Finding someone who could prepare my taxes without breaking the bank has been difficult. I came to Yoel needing an amended tax return for 2013 for my S-Corp. I was having difficulty doing it myself. Yoel is very knowledgeable and professional, and also patient! The worst place to do your taxes ever! Stay away! Very sketchy. Charges for everything and provides poor (or might I say - zero?) service. He entered everything into the computer in 5 minutes and my taxes were done. No wander it came out that I owe so much more than what turbotax showed me when I did it myself. Yoel made an appointment to see me quickly, as I had requested, in order to make a business tax filing deadline. He worked on the taxes while I was with him in person and filed them electronically the same day; this was not easy given the business operated in NJ for part of the year and in NY for the rest of the year. The following week my wife joined for a meeting and he did the same thing for our personal taxes, filing on the same day; these taxes were also complex due to a variety of factors. His fees were fair and reasonable and for our personal taxes, although we did owe some money, it was less than we had anticipated. Recommendation to taxpayers: be sure to bring as many of your records as possible to speed the process. After many years of filing my taxes by myself, using free or cheap online software, I found myself in a slightly more complex tax filing situation that I wasn't comfortable navigating on my own. I can't tell you what a wonderful accountant/tax preparer Mr. Friedman is. I can't even begin to say enough good things. I must say that my case was extremely complicated as I had not filed my taxes for several years & didn't know where to begin. To top that off NY State told me I owed an astronomical amount that I knew couldn't possibly be true. To be perfectly honest that was my fault because I had not filed. I can't afford high priced Manhattan prices so I went to Yelp and Mr. Friedman's amazing reviews drew me in. These glowing reviews are not exaggerated they are 100% true. Mr. Friedman is professional extremely patient extremely reasonably priced & MOST importantly extremely knowledgeable. He knows all of the ins and outs of the tax laws & knows how to apply them to get you the most refund you can possibly get. And he can handle the most complicated taxes (mine) and mine are very old. Back to 2009 many tax preparers don't even know how to do that, or don't have the correct software to handle such an old tax year. Mr. Friedman has both the expertise & the software to handle these cases. I think in the end I will owe money but it is astronomically less than originally thought, thanks to Mr. Friedman's expertise. I will update this review to confirm the dollar amounts once I know how much I owe, but regardless I will owe & that is MY fault for NOT paying unemployment tax one year - that has nothing to do with the accountant you choose. Bottom line is I have saved I'm sure thousands by choosing Mr. Friedman and I will give you exact figures later. Anything I owe - that is my problem and my fault for not taking care of my finances on a few of the years. Bottom line is choosing Mr. Friedman was the best decision I ever could've made and I'm only a little scared that as he becomes more popular and well-known, too many people will learn about him & then he won't be such a hidden treasure. But I will say that if anyone needs a tax preparer - this guy is the BEST of the best. Don't be fooled by his extremely reasonable prices. That just says he's honest & doesn't want to rip anybody off. He's low-key, humble, honest and kind (if you're looking also for nice & kind person in your tax preparer, you need look no further) and I wish everyone I ever did business with was the same way.
