There was a mistake made by the UC in where my prescriptions would be sent and CVS was going to take a couple days to fill them. The UC recommended I let them resend the request to fill my prescriptions to the La Botica Health Mart Pharmacy a couple buildings down and although I was hesitant because I had never heard of this pharmacy, i said yes and i am so glad i did!! They had my prescriptions filled in 30 minutes! Just in time for me to grab a quick bite to eat at a restaurant nearby as I waited. The staff at the pharmacy were so kind and the Pharmacist Chandra was perfect! He made calls to confirm my insurance and even called the CVS to cancel them from filling my prescriptions there so I could pay La Botica. Chandra even stayed after the pharmacy had closed and the employees went home just to ensure I was taken care of and would make it home with my much needed medicine. Now THAT is EXCELLENT Customer Service and truly caring, compassionate, and devoted people. Thank you so much Chandra for caring so much for my health and your job!! 11 out of 10!

I cannot believe what happened this week at the Coachella Aldi. First, let me say for the record…read morethat Aldi has always been a family favorite. Their prices, value, diverse stock and their CONSISTENCY from store to store keeps us coming back time and time again. It is obvious that Aldi has a business model that works and has worked for years. Now, let's address the elephant in the room: someone decided it would be a good idea to break away from the business model and rearrange the store in such a way that a regular Aldi customer is stymied the moment they enter. HALF of the produce section has been removed. A local florist took over the center of the produce aisle with crappy flower arrangements. What's left of the produce dept. is a complete MESS - with product spilling out of badly stacked and damaged boxes, items on the floor, and extra random grocery bags tossed around on top of the fruit. Also, the plastic bag rolls are empty, and a box of plastic trash bags was placed on top of the produce - presumably as a replacement. Throughout the store, sections have been removed and switched into a thrift-store like disarray that makes no sense. Even the alcohol has been moved across the store, and placed closer to the entrance, which is known to increase theft and alcohol use by underage minors. Every section was not simply restocked differently - the very cases themselves were dragged all over the store, so all of the display shelves are coming apart. There are pieces of them falling off everywhere, and most of the price tags are missing or in the wrong place. The 'Aldi Finds' aisle has been completely moved so that it is one side of two aisles all the way from the front to the back of the store - with a nonsensical chips and drinks aisle on the right facing the deals. There is also cleaning and rack equipment strewn about everywhere - blocking aisles, and causing hazards to shoppers. NOTHING about what they've done to this store makes sense. In addition, whoever the lady is that works the normal day shift is rude, inconsiderate, and yells at customers and tells them which self-checkouts to use, even though there is a green light to indicate which self check is available. She insists that you use the one SHE directs you to. Also, she heavily enforces limits on purchases until one of her personal friends shows up. THEY are permitted to ransack and hoard as soon as new items are presented. When this store first opened it was a pleasure to shop here - it was our favorite in the Coachella Valley. Now it has become just another knock-off indoor swap meet catastrophe.

When I was young, one of my favorite sweets to eat was my grandmas blueberry muffins. I'd spend weekends with her and grandpa and be awakened nearly every morning to the most intoxicating aroma wafting up the stairs from the kitchen and tickling my little nose. I'd began thinking alot about grandma lately after learning July 11th was National Blueberry Muffin Day (ever notice there seems to be a National Day of something just about everyday) and so I decided to take to the internet and find a healthy bran muffin recipe where I could get my sinful, yet healthy muffin fix. That's when I stumbled upon the benefits of something called Branaflax muffin mix, which appeared to be the Holy Grail of muffin mix for health enthusiast's and stay-at-home moms who as we all know take their nutrition serious. The Branaflax muffin mix recipe was developed by its current CEO, Adrienne Dubarry, who I assumed from her website picture, was a former fashion model turned domestic goddess, like Martha Stewart whose only purpose in life then was to stare back from the pages of Vogue or Harpers and make already insecure women even more so, but who now lives to make them feel like throwing themselves off a bridge because they don't churn their own butter, or has them all convinced they're going to hell for not carving museum worthy Jack-a-lanterns at Halloween. Although Adrienne did seem to posess a more wholesome, non threatening, Donna Reed kind of look, one in which if I were a woman I could maybe be friends with her, and whats more, she didn't look like she'd beat me into unconsciousness (like Martha would) for screwing up one her recipes or worse, kill me for making a mess in her kitchen, no Adrienne was more suited to grace the covers of Good Housekeeping or Womans Day. I decided to give Branaflax a try and ordered some online, the recipes looked rediculously easy and as it said on the website just by adding a few simple ingredients, I could customize my muffins for any taste I wanted, one mix - many possibilities. Now I've never been one of those guys, you know the type who have way too much time on their hands and they'll sit down and write a letter to some conglomerate whose product they tried once and had to tell them about it. But damn if that isn't just what I went and did, prompting Adrienne to call and invite me to come out and bake with her at her test kitchen in La Quinta, California. To say I was flabbergasted would be an understatement, but after talking with her for some time she was serious and since I had an upcoming trip to the desert anyway, I decided to take her up on the offer, find out the secret to her success, what it takes to become a muffin mogul and if she truly is as home-spun as she appears to be in that apron she's wearing on her website. Also the staff were available and helpful! This is always a big plus when staff can be found stocking shelves and are willing to make eye contact to help you lol. They have a large dry goods section with sauces, Pastas, chips, drinks and spices. Also their wellness isles with protein powders, supplements and health foods is bigger than anywhere I've ever seen. I'd say their only sections that weren't super big were their meat counter but that seemed reasonable to me. You are really coming here to get more unique items and brands that some big retailers just aren't carrying yet. I found some Wasa crisp bread crackers here that have been hard for me to find lately so that was a nice surprise. Again, really impressed with their staff and customer service. 5 stars for willingness to help and also having adequate staffing to support multiple customers at once.
