I reached out to the hotel to make a group reservation. They connected me quickly with the right person and it all went smoothly from there. They were super nice about the changes I made, as people in my group were making their last minute plans, which changed our reservation a few times. When I checked in the process was smooth. All the staff were super friendly and always kept offering me water which was perfect because I was dehydrated. I also made a reservation for the rooftop and ended up needing to change it from a partial to a buyout because of our group size and they smoothly and quickly accommodated us. Thank you for allowing us a nice time during our NY trip!

The hotel is in a great location, close to many attractions and excellent eateries. Upon entering our room, we were pleasantly surprised by its size and high ceilings. This room was roomier than most hotels I've stayed at. At checkout, I learned that we were given a larger room because we booked more than three nights, which was a nice perk. The hotel was clean, and the staff were all very friendly. I also appreciated the complimentary water available at the front desk.

I will start with saying something nice. The Hotel is in a good location and I like that the coat hangers are removable from the closet. Now I'm going to dish. The amount of niggling details surpassed the one or two that could be overlooked. I will now list them so that some day the general manager might actually go inside a room to see if these details make for the Excellent Hotel they seem to be striving for, at least with their room rate. The Bathroom: There are all these golden grip bars surrounding the toilet, including one behind the seat. The one behind the seat makes the toilet seat not stay up. You have to hold it with one hand or your knee while you urinate. Did someone sign off on this? The shower: your showerhead is attached to a vertical rail which allows it to adjust up and down. Unfortunately, the highest you can adjust the shower head is absurdly too low for a regular-sized human. This is such an obvious mistake that begs the question if anyone in management noticed this. The bed platform extends beyond the actual mattress and the corners are sitting there at shin level. I cannot imagine anyone staying there not whacking their shin on this protrusion at least once. The Television: When you go to a hotel room, you may want to plop down on the bed and turn on the TV. What you don't want then is a bunch of red-tape and prompts. You don't want to have to pull out your phone and type in a code and all that business. Is this really the best you can do for your guests? The Minibar: my God, the Minibar was everywhere. There was no room in the fridge for anything we brought in, plus all this booze and candy was taking up a large portion of the remaining available surface area. One thing they had no room for was a price list for any of this. If you have to ask... The Tackiness: From all the gold colored horseshit to the fake antique telephones, this place has some work to do. For example, the do not disturb sign is ridiculous and could be emblematic of why this place is a swing and a miss. Instead of the standard "do not disturb" that fits simply over the doorknob and flips over to say "please clean room," this sign says, I kid you not, "ENJOYING THE MOMENT PLEASE POP BY LATER" and when you flip it over it says "ENJOYING THE MOMENT PLEASE POP BY LATER". To add to the innovation, the thing is printed on cork and dangles awkwardly and amateurishly from some kind of wire or gimp. You have to see this to see how pathetic it is. I'll put a photo below. This is what the management seems to be concerning themselves with instead of more obvious things. Not every innovation is an improvement. The Lighting: The king bed we slept in had plugs and a light switch on only one side of the bed, so the other person had no access to light or their phone if they wanted to both charge it and have it nearby. There was a small auxiliary light next to my side which I tried to turn on but it didn't work. There was also a ridiculous space-sucking floor lamp in the corner that went on automatically somehow. We couldn't find the switch for it, so we unplugged it. Again, attention to details is not what the General Manager seems to consider part of their job. This place could easily be better.

I love this hotel! I will always come back. It's the sexiest and trendiest hotel I've been to so far. They have a jazz lounge and restaurant near the Lobby. And a rooftop bar and restaurant. Everything is conveniently located. I have so many options I never have to leave the property. The staff are nice and always take care of whatever I might need. I'm so happy I chose to stay here a second time. (I wish their room service stayed open past 11p and my room had a refrigerator and microwave). I'm not sure if I can request those but I'll look into it when I go back.

XMAS at the Refinery Hotel, NYC.

I actually cried when we left! We had the most magical XMAS in NYC weekend at the Refinery Hotel. We had a XMAS tree in our room and our very own cookie man! The service was out of this world. Raymond the doorman is worth his weight in gold. Stay here. It's just a dream- you won't regret it. Thank you so much for the most memorable trip, Refinery Hotel- we will be back!!

I loved my stay here so much. The staff was very friendly, the building was incredibly clean, and the service was great. Whenever I needed anything it was brought to me in no time whether that be an extra umbrella, more hot water for tea in the morning, or more toiletries. The rooftop is a great addition at night and the DJ and bartender do a phenomenal job. Thank you! Full review: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTREdRVxm/

Complimentary candle as a gift for playing the piano
    Kim L.

Excellent stay and service at the hotel. We arrived a couple hours before check-in time and they were able to put us in our room early with no extra charge. I sat down to play piano at the jazz bar in the sleek lobby while we were waiting and as a thank you for my performance the receptionist gave me a free Refinery candle! Such a sweet gift. The room was clean and very spacious with a nice view of the Empire State Building, plus nice bathroom amenities. Bed was very comfortable and the TV had a lot of great channels including HBO. The rooftop restaurant had a cool vibe and the food was wonderful. Great location with lots of shopping, dining and entertainment options within walking distance. Wish we could have tried the afternoon tea at the jazz bar and the cool downstairs restaurant. Highly recommend

One thing to note: the hotel sits right above a sports bar, so it can get noisy when there's a game on. The gym was a low point. Prime location! Modern, spacious rooms (for the city)!…read more The elevators though.... Oy. I stayed at this hotel over the New Years holiday and was thrilled to be so close to Madison Square Garden and Times Square. As was expected, check in was a bit chaotic given the time of year. The ground floor entrance was PACKED with luggage on first arrival. After weaving our way through, we located the check-in desk on the 5th or 6th floor. Tons of people but adequate seating to wait for our room to be ready. An upper floor meant having to figure out their dreaded elevator system. It left something to be desired, to say the least. With only 3 elevators that service the whole of the hotel, and a 4th that goes who knows where, it was almost always a lengthy struggle to catch one. No buttons on the interior of the carriage, all elevators were called with a touchscreen device that seemingly tried to pack as many people as possible into one small space, leaving many behind that couldn't fit, before directing the passengers to another elevator to repeat the whole process over again. One day was so bad, it was actually preferable to walk up the stairs to the 14th floor. Woof. The room itself was wonderful. Spacious, with 2 beds. Very clean. Beautiful view of the city and the arena next door. Great way to catch the sun set. Walk in shower with both an overhead and handheld shower attachment. Great lighting. Shower had heavily frosted glass that faced the bedroom area so be prepared for your silhouette to be on full display for anyone you may be rooming with. Nice sized closet, safe, and mini fridge. Big flat screen television. Window shade worked very well to block out the light if you're hoping to sleep in late. Walls can be a bit thin, especially if you have a rowdy bunch of kids right next door as we did. Aside from the elevators, the perks far outweighed the usual peskier elements (e.g., noise, etc.) one encounters when staying away from home. Would stay here again, perhaps during a less busy time of year, if that's even possible.

The Library Hotel is every bit as charming as people say, but what really makes it special is the team. I arrived by car while the building was hidden behind scaffolding, and the front desk was incredibly kind and patient, helping guide me to the loading area so I didn't spend my afternoon circling the block. Housekeeping was so gracious and helpful throughout my stay, the bartender at Bookmarks very kindly helped my friend carry our drinks down to the room, and checkout took less than 30 seconds. Every interaction was warm, thoughtful, and genuinely welcoming. The themed rooms are such a fun touch (I loved seeing how each one was inspired by a different subject), but I also have to give a shout-out to the practical things. I took a few work video calls from my room on the 12th floor, and the Wi-Fi was ridiculously good - honestly stronger than the Wi-Fi in my own house when I'm sitting five feet from the modem. Not a second of lag. The TV also had a ton of premium channels, which was such a fun surprise after long days exploring the city. And finally, a standing ovation for the real MVP: the air conditioning. New York was basically a sauna while I was there, and every time I walked back into my room I was greeted by the most glorious arctic blast. It was so good that my friends ended up wanting to hang out in my room and order dinner instead of going back out into the heat. Perfect stay from beginning to end. I can't wait to come back.
