I think the price here is very reasonable and my haircut only took about 30 mins! I highly recommend LaurenSummer hair salon, can't wait to come back!

TL;DR A Wonderful First Visit Turned Into a Case Study on How to Lose a Client, Due to Poor…read moreCommunication and a Complete Lack of Accountability. I recently moved to the Burlington area and was really excited to try this hair salon, since they had so many great reviews. I booked an appointment for September 9th for an all-over color and overall I was very happy with my experience. My hair stylist, Anniston, was pleasant to talk to and gave me exactly the hair color I was looking for. When all was done, I left the salon feeling elated and confident about my new hair color and how relieved I was to have found a salon I looked forward to returning to for both haircuts and color treatments. However, as each week passed, I noticed that my new dark brown hair color was rapidly fading back to my previous medium auburn, so I called the salon and discussed my issue with Anniston. She informed me that there was nothing she could do and that I would need to pay for another color treatment. She stated that the salon has a "2-week grace period" for fixing hair for free, which I was neither made aware of nor is it on their website, and since I was calling in the third week she still could not make an exception. I told her I could provide photos with timestamps of my hair fading within the grace period and this was still not enough for her to try and reason with me. I reminded her that during my appointment, it wasn't until she had the hair color mixed and began applying it to my hair that she then told me it was "demi-permanent," to which I said, "Oh, I was looking to do a permanent dye..." since I had clearly expressed to her upon arriving that I was looking to go darker for the "fall and winter," in other words, meaning I want it to last more than two weeks. It also wasn't until she was applying the demi-permanent color that I asked her how long it lasted, and she said "it lasts for quite a while;" quite awhile in my opinion is not two weeks, more like a few months at least. She tried reassuring me by saying that I probably wash my hair every few days anyways and I then told her that I wash my hair everyday because I have an oily scalp. She then told me that if it fades too fast for my liking to "give the salon a call and we can get you in," which I took as meaning to fix it free of charge, since she said it as a reassurance. She never informed me about the 2-week grace period when I had these concerns during the appointment. Still on the phone with her, now feeling really uncomfortable having to plead a case I shouldn't have to, I explained how I have been getting my hair professionally colored for years and that salons, with no further questions asked, have gotten me in and fixed my hair for free; that is the honorable thing to do for your client, especially within a reasonable time window, which three weeks absolutely was. She had little to say and kept standing firm with salon policy, despite how politely discouraged I was about my hair. This is where I began getting upset. She then told me that Lauren Summer's Salon "will never do permanent color the first time;" they color a client's hair and will always do a demi-permanant to make sure they like it. I told her that I understand the reasoning behind it, but that (1) I was not informed I was receiving demi-permanant until after it was being applied to my hair, (2) that I made it very clear I wanted color that would last through the fall and winter, and (3) that I was never made aware the salon only does demi-permanant first; I would have politely declined services and went somewhere else had I known. As a professional salon, are you not confident enough in your work to be given a request for hair color and do permanent dye? You don't go to a tattoo shop and they give you a fake tattoo first. The money going towards my hair was a birthday gift from my mom, and I wouldn't have wanted to waste it on a color that washes out after "28 shampoos," which I first learned during this phone call 3 weeks after the fact. It feels incredibly deceptive and downright fraudulent for a hair stylist to not thoroughly consult with their client first and inform them about this very bizarre salon policy that I have never encountered in the 15 years I have been going to salons for permanent color treatments. It's so discouraging how such a wonderful experience was unnecessarily ruined by Anniston being unable to own up to an honest miscommunication and for both her and Lauren being completely unwilling to be reasonable and make the situation right. The whole situation left me feeling really awkward and thinking, 'where is the common decency and humility for your clients?' I am firmly asking that my Mom's card be fully refunded in a timely manner or I will be filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Photos and timestamps attached of my hair at the appointment (9/9/26), the day after (9/10/26), 9 days later (9/18/26), and 19 days later (9/28/26).
