Comparing it to other local places, you can really get some good stuff at an affordable rate. Pizza starting at $10 for a cheese 18" pie cannot be beat anywhere. Originally it was Sal's but now it's just a spinoff. But quality is amazing. Third coffee counter is also something to check out. Smoothies, shakes, energy drinks, and of course coffee is a great value. Nice dining area also. The only downside is their restrooms are a total disaster. Nastiest place to go. I don't know why they don't teach people how to clean the restrooms. They have so much staff there it's insane. I've never seen any other chain grocery store with that many people on staff at one time. Train them to take a turn to get that restroom in shape. Management should be totally embarrassed.

The employees are friendly, helpful and know where everything is located in the store. The manager is always on the floor greeting customers and the cashiers & baggers are fast and courteous. I always buy their brands and am never disappointed (especially their soda and potato chips! Parking is tough during peak hours, but I don't usually have a problem if I go after 7:00 pm or early in the morning, when it's not so busy.

Its basically a hidden restaurant within a grocery store! You can google their expansive sushi menu, which is 2 pages, and the rest of their menu is about 5 pages. This is counting the "made to order" stuff; the prepackaged foods aren't even on the menu. They probably have a solid 12+ pages of offerings. This isn't even counting the fresh sliced cheese and meat you can get over at the butcher or deli. Market Basket has a lot going for it.

Produce: Not an immense selection, but almost all of it is local, especially if its in season. Such good squash and zucchini! They also have more than just heads of iceberg lettuce so I as a salad freak love this. You may not find all the fruit in the world, not 6 varieties of apples, but the basics you will see regularly. Deli: Boar's head! Wahoo! Not every single boars head offering is available but it seems like they only have the obscure stuff you won't see at the grocery store - like teriyaki turkey for example. They have all of their condiments and sauces as well. There are other brands too and all are super small batch,... yes they have LOL American too for the boring people :) Deli salads are also delightful and freshly prepared in small batches. Frozen : some cool finds here! Just different brands that are mostly local and are out of this world. If I don't need a sack of frozen veggies, I will stop in here versus Price Chopper because they just taste so much more vibrant I also found Yuengling black and tan ice cream here! LOVE IT! Also - above the freezer cases there is the cutest collection of antique tricycles. So charming and cool. Meats are good but limited. They must grind their own beef because its outstanding. They always have sausages and they have a bunch of different dry rubs and seasonings in a bunch pf varieties right in the meat shelf - for about 6 bucks! Baked:: No bakery , but the baked goods section is enough to get lost in, even though its small. I LOVE the snowflake dinner rolls. they taste like the Hawaiian rolls but sweeter, and dusted in flour mmm. They also have Cranberry orange cookies and toffee cookies that I crave for days until I grab them. The french bread is always a hit when I slice it up, toast and serve with dips. Not much for laundry needs, cleaning or health and beauty just the absolute necessities.Plus they are much more tin cost han anywhere else. They do sell beer, cigarettes and lottery items as well. Staff is always nice, which is a given in a small town grocer. and always welcome! Overall, the prices are much higher than the grocery store but not outrageous like a convenience store or gas station. The offerings are greatly unique but you will find the mainstays that you need easily. I will remark on the wide variety of condiments they have! i will pick up a new kind of mustard or pickled this and that something or other each time I come in for a new different flavor to add to the week . You'll also find Virgil's Soda here - the only vegan soda that actually tastes amazing. Staff is always nice Upon checking out there's almost always a cute offering or baked good for pocket change and a quick nibble on the ride home.

Even when the staff bags my groceries they are so nice. Yeah, maybe Market Basket has wider variety and cheaper items but if you don't want to be fighting a madhouse on a busy day, and appreciate a more small-town, personal touch , definitely I would recommend coming in here. The meat dept has set aside things for me if I call ahead for an urgent need, the seafood dept has pointed me to items in their frozen case if they think I could get a better economical deal. I recently used their catering over the holidays and they couldn't be nicer - got a personal call to go through the order instead of someone telling "just fill it out online" (Whole Foods). An earlier review asked why would people come here if it's usually more expensive, my answer is: if you have the ability to support businesses like this where there is heart in customer service - that adds to the sense of a small town community and makes you feel good about living nearby. Donelans also is a big supporter of school children including Girl Scouts - which is another great thing about them. It is usually not crazy busy and a more peaceful experience (not noisy like other stores). Parents with young children - they have the cool shopping carts attached to the toddler cars as well as mini shopping carts for little ones who want to "help". Love this store.

This is not a store I ever go in unless I absolutely have to. I'm only writing this because this has happened 3 times. At first I thought maybe he was having a bad day. The second time I started to think, 'no way'. But tonight the back up register worker wouldn't even take me just directed me over to the first guy in the main register. When there were a good 12 people waiting he stopped to break down boxes instead of ringing me out. Then the guy at the main register wasn't going to ring me out cause I put my PIN number in wrong 3 times. He told me that was my limit and I had to go. I argued and he rang me up again and it was the correct pin. But I didn't think I was playing baseball. It was an accident cause I had just changed it. He told me to f-off as I walked out. I turned around and yes there was a line but I certainly was not taking up too much off his time only purchasing one item. I was the only white person in the store which is always the way at that store but it is what it is. I Don't have an issue with that and neither should he. I'm disgusted with both of the men there. Both have acted similarly in both other past experiences. It's not right!
