What a great afternoon we had exploring this neat museum in Historic Roscoe Village. It's not…read morelarge, but we still spent nearly three hours exploring every nook and cranny. The lone staffer was extremely friendly, and when we asked about a particular display, she checked and got back to us with detailed information. There are three permanent displays, American Indian, Pioneer Ohio and Oriental. Apparently the majority of the collection was a bequest by the local Johnson brothers and consisted of over 14,000 items. there were also two additional displays, a WWI traveling display and a room filled with local beer advertising memorabilia. Really appreciated the identifying signs and additional information which put the exhibits in context. Lots to see and learn here. Love these little museums...and this one was exceptional!

Mr. Derewicki, the director, was very informed, & thorough. He was patient & engaging while pointing out all the aspects. He highlighted many the constellations we could see in our part of the sky here in town. (Something if time allows, he always tries to do at the end of each of the presentations.) Coshocton is beyond blessed to have this facility in their city! The shows are at the CHS High School, & ALWAYS FREE but DO require a reservation. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

This is the first museum that I can recall which honors the contributions from the home front. Dennison Depot was a stop for these soldiers on the way to the front and the town went out of their way to ensure they were supported, serving up thousands of gallons of coffee and millions of cookies and so much more. The museum itself is a series of railroad cars that have been recovered and restored. As you walk through the cars, there are signs and captions that show the history, explain the memorabilia and more. Friendly folks who were happy to have a visitor this morning. They have a well-greased machine. I was a little concerned at first, because the waiting room was so loud and chaotic, but once we got on the train, everything ran smoothly. Trying to stay on our budget I prefer not to go into a museum with admission fees plus there is signage along the park that gives you info needed. We strolled around the small park, looked into windows of the Meeting House, a cabin and the cemetery. Free to enjoy outside! A step back into history and story of the 90 Indians including women & children that was massacred.

This is a must see if you visit Gnadenhutten. The cemetery surrounding the museum and historical park is the oldest cemetery in Ohio. It's beautiful and I visit each time I go to this adorable village. We called John who's name was on the door and he was able to meet us at the museum. He is a wealth of information and the nicest man ever, not to mention he is the Mayor of Gnadenhutten. We walked around the museum and I was in awe of all the arrowheads that are displayed, they all were found within 15 miles of the museum. It's not a huge museum, but take your time reading things and watching the very informative movie playing. We were there for two hours and John was able to tell me apart of history that I didn't know. It's such a sad story about the 96 Christian unarmed Native American Indians massacred by Pennsylvania Militiamen. They killed Men, women and children and then burned the whole village down. This happened on March, 8 1782. Two children were able to escape, one was scalped but survived. They were able to tell the story to Moravia Missionaries. In 1798 missionary John Heckwelder returned to the site and collected all the bones he could find. He buried them all in on grave and that mound is roped off at the historical park. I can say hearing the story from John, it was so sad I found myself tearing up. The grounds are so beautiful and today they have the church and cooper house for you go into. They have all kinds of events throughout the year, I wish that I lived closer so I could attend them. In August they have Pioneer Days, the weekend after I left was Apple Butter Days. Thanksgiving through January 1 they have a Christian Indian drive-thru display. If you visit this museum and historical park, please leave a donation. We need this part of history to be displayed and to honor those who lost their lives. So the money helps keep this place going. They also need volunteers, my daughter is going to help out on her day off coming up. Thank you John, it was one of the highlights of my trip meeting you and learning about this time in history.

This is a true 5 star attraction!…read more MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO BOTH TOURS! As a Christian I greatly enjoyed the Behalt mural and learning about different Christian faiths. This was someone's retirement project. I watched a video on YouTube about a 105 year old man, his advice was to have a purpose in retirement. On a plus note the gift shop/bookstore had Christian children's books for $2 and $3. They are spreading the faith, not trying to make money.

We were recommended this place and decided to come. It's a little museum they sell some Amish…read morethings. There was some cool art pieces they sell. There's some books and pictures you can see that explains their history. We took the tour. It's about 30 minutes long but you have to do this. It's an amazing story telling with art and lights. The inside is equipped with appliances that were trend setters back in the early sixties. They have the first smooth top stove, and the first washer/dryer combination appliance. The huge speakers in the living room were considered the thing to have back in the early sixties! It is apparent that this family was very wealthy and had the best tools of living for that time period! Proceeds go to fund scholarships to The Ohio State University for Carrollton High School Honor students.

Parts of Elijah were good, but many parts were not. I was especially grieved about the portrayal of Elisha. He was a wonderful prophet of God yet he was portrayed in a very silly manner and that was a great disservice to him. However, the workers at the theater were very kind and we did enjoy our meal.
