I''ve always had great service and most importantly always received a great cut at Alpharetta Barbershop! It's rare that you find a shop that produces consistent quality, not to mention one that has very little turnover. In fact, Sam has been cutting not only my hair, but also my son's hair for over 11 years. I have pictures of my almost 13 year old son falling asleep in Sam's chair (sitting in my lap) while getting his first haircut. To this day, Sam is the only person either of us will let cut our hair. If you're looking for talent, Sam is the only barber that I have ever had that not only takes the time to get to know his customers, but also remembers your exact specifications from memory. First time at ABS. I was a bit hesitant at first but i have to give Pam a shoutout for a great haircut. Not everyone knows how to do a fade so i appreciate that she went above and beyond. For the past 7 years, 5 of which I lived north of the Perimeter Mall area, I have trudged to Decatur's Cut Zoo to get a sub-$20 haircut from a guy whom I could rely on to get a simple haircut right. Today, we officially broke up. A little background... I have been tired of driving all the way to the Emory University area for a haircut for many years. But I liked my guy, and I remained loyal. That said, it's not like I didn't look for someplace else to go. The two (2) other times I've hunted for a barber shop in the Alpharetta / Roswell / Duluth area, they've been run by middle-aged salt and pepper white guys who make their shops smell like a Hawaiian Tropic test facility and charge $25 for the experience. Screw that. When my "guy" in Decatur ditched Cut Zoo and moved on to a salon further away, I gave up and, most recently, got a "meh" haircut from a lady at a Great Clips near my house. Today, I tried one more place -- Alpharetta Barber Shop -- and I was pleasantly surprised. Located in a shopping center just half a block west from the GA400, the shop feels nice and new. They tried to do an old school mahogany barber shop with appropriate fixtures and managed to pull it off. The Latin (Brazilian?) barbers all wear black pants and vests, although my stylist (Pam) was not dressed as such. I sat down, explained how I wanted my hair cut, and nearly fell asleep like I usually do. I got a great haircut, and then the slightly-higher-than-I-was-used-to $17 paid for itself in spades. I got a hot shaving foam blade cut on my neck followed by a hot towel and wipe down around my ears and neck. I almost just fell asleep, it was so relaxing. A little after shave and some talcum powder, and I was done with one of the best haircuts I've had in 7 years. I'll be going back to Alpharetta Barber Shop. As for my other "guy" -- whatever. The drive to Decatur is no longer worth it. And he's not there anymore anyway. read more

When it comes to men's barbershops, this place is where it's at. The introduction I went in during a weekday evening around 5:00pm and this place was hopping. I signed in and was assigned to 'Sam'. Sam was one of 6-7 barbers working at the time. Sam was friendly, patient, and experienced: Everything I like in a good barber. The cut After a conversation with Sam, he spent about 20 minutes or so slowly sculpting my hair with 2 different types of electric razors and a pair of scissors. I could tell he had experience by how he worked with my cow lick (it's a pretty typical problem area for most barbers) and how well he styled my hair - all while having a conversation with me about sports and family. The finish After cutting my hair, Sam gave my neckline a nice straight razor cut, rubbed on some aftershave and gave me a nice warm towel on my head. To finish, he styled my hair so I'd look good leaving the shop. The only thing I really miss is no sinks/wash basins (so no shampoo). The price The price was a very reasonable $18. Remember to tip if you liked the service (I did). Tips: Their website takes appointments, but they charge you can extra $2 for the convenience of not having to wait. They take walk-ins as well, but you may have to wait (they are pretty busy most days). read more

How is it that I've gone this long without writing a review for my very favorite barber shop?! This place is fantastic. I've been going here regularly for about two years now and I've never had a bad haircut. That's almost unheard-of, but I swear it's true... these stylists know what they're doing, and they take pride in it. I don't have a particular stylist that I request; I just walk in when I need a haircut and ask for the first available. They've got an impressive roster, and so far every one of them has been personable and professional. They take their time and do an immaculate job. The ambiance is great - it feels classy and upscale. And they finish every haircut with a nice hot lather neck shave and a warm towel. You just can't beat that. When I decided to shave my goatee for the first time in years, this is where I came. They gave me the full straight razor shave treatment, which is something I had never before experienced. It's a bit pricy, but sometimes a little pampering is in order! Needless to say, the shave was expertly done and I left feeling refreshed, relaxed, and smooth as a baby's bottom. read more

Very new to Alpharetta and needed a haircut. Checked reviews and location. Had a problem finding the shop. The shop is large and luxurious. The price of $22. is bit more than I paid in New York As a new customer Sara was unsure of what I wanted but in the end she gave an excellent cut. The hot towel was an added treat. Did not really appreciate how good it was until my wife commented. I would like be a regular except for the location and distance. Sara was a pleasant surprise. If you are familiar with this area. The staff is fantastic and appointments are easily scheduled at multiple convenient times including weekends. I've had "Shamsi" cut my hair for about 3 years now and she always does a terrific job. This review is based on my son's recent experience at your shop. He had a beard that was his pride and joy for years. When he decided to have it shaved off, he chose you. He requested a straight razor with hot towels, etc. He expected a professional job. He proceeded to be hacked and cut by a novice with no finesse or interest. What should have been an uplifting experience only left him with physical pain and a bad memory. He had to redo her poor shave on his own. Very disgusted.
