I'd like to share our experience with Rob Rees. We hired Rob to recoat our roof and do some other repairs to our motorhome shortly after we bought it in July of this year. He did the roof, replaced the coach door lock and a few other repairs, for which we paid him his full rate in cash. He recommended a source to purchase a new awning, which we ordered on line. At that time, he said he would order a gasket for our slide from Vancouver. When the awning arrived, we contacted him to install it and he came and did that in August, as well as some other "fixes" and we paid him for that as well as the cost of the gasket and the 2 slide toppers in cash. He said he'd come out and install those as soon as he had the gasket in.
When we went for a short trip in early September, we discovered that the awning could not be opened without climbing up on the roof and flipping the latch over because it was not installed correctly. (to be clear, I am terrified of heights and my hubby is in a wheelchair).
When we got home, we phoned Rob and told him our problem, and he said he'd come out and fix it. Fast forward to present day, several phone calls and texts to Rob to find out when he'd be coming out, a variety of excuses (it's been raining; I'm too busy; I don't have my helper, etc. etc.).
We called him 2 days ago to ask him to give us a date that he will be coming, his response was anger that we were trying to tell him how to run his business and how he has worked so many days in a row and he couldn't keep up with the 70+ calls he gets a day. Hubby suggested that maybe he needs to hire more help if he has too much work to keep up. He then said he'd bring us back our money we paid for the toppers and the gasket and he'd come and fix the awning when he can.
Today he came over and practically threw the money at me, I asked if he had the gasket, and he said yes, but it isn't for sale, he'd give it to a customer who doesn't tell him how to run his business. I asked him about fixing the awning and he responded that he'd fix it as per the warranty when he can get to it. He'll call and let us know when he's coming by. With that he stomped back to his truck and left.
My sense of this is that we'll never see or hear from Rob again, and we'll end up paying someone else to fix the awning that he installed incorrectly.
If you've tried to have any work done on a RV lately, you know that Fennel's closing in September has made it crazy busy for anyone else who does this work, but we feel that we were more than patient (waiting over 3 months) and still have not had the service we expected when we read all these glowing reviews about Rob Rees and his service.
