After traveling for nearly two months we arrived home to a busted sprinkler pipe and a flooded room, not exactly the welcome home we wanted but it was our reality. Add to the misery all the floors on the first floor of our home had to be replaced. While I have spent my professional career in emergency management, it really hits home when it's your house that's damaged. We were incredibly fortunate to connect with an exceptional mitigation company who did an excellent job of cleaning up all the water and getting us ready for the repairs. We interviewed three contractors/companies and we were immediately impressed with Matt Caviglia and Reel Construction. Matt was clear on the process we should anticipate going forward as well as the cost and his experience working with insurance companies. Matt and his team did an excellent job of shepherded us through every step of the process that included communicating with our insurance company, they explained in detail what we needed to do to make the project successful. Our foreman, Geoff Board communicated with us daily, on what would be accompanied and who would be in our home, which included introducing us to the excellent team of craftsmen who performed their magic daily. Matt and his team at Reel Construction are your best partners for all your home remodeling and construction projects and while I hope we won't need their services again, if we do a call to Matt will be our first order of business. read more

Matt saved Christmas! Our stove was disconnected for some months due to a kitchen project. Matt came over and reconnected our stove in the 11th hour and my family was able to pull off Christmas dinner in time. If you really need frustration in your life, Reel Construction can provide all you need. If you want to be treated like crap, yelled at, lied to, and for the most part ignored, Reel construction is the place for you. Other than two sub-contractors that made it possible for me to heat my house, most of the interactions with the sub-contractors were just to get insurance quotes. Since I can't even get samples to approve, I can't see how the sub-contractors can even provide insurance quotes. Basically I have been waiting for Reel construction to get samples and insurance quotes for months. I can't imagine how long it will take them to actually do the repairs. I signed a contract with Reel construction in January, 2021. They were supposed to replace my hardwood floors that were damaged. They had a sub-contractor come and show me a sample of what they proposed. They showed me a 3 to 4 inch sample. I told Matt at Reel Construction that there was no way I could approve an entire hardwood floor based on a 3 inch sample. He basically told me I should go with what I was shown and never provided adequate samples of that product and other products. I have been waiting since February 11th for samples. It is April 12th and still no samples. It was the same thing with carpet. His sub-contractor brought very cheap samples of carpet, nothing like the carpet that had been damaged. I was able to go to the sub-contractor's shop and we found comparable carpet. His sub-contractor said that he could not provide samples of the padding because Matt would have provide him information on the padding that was removed. Matt never did get the information to the carpet sub and I never was able to get samples of the padding. Another 2 months lost. Matt was angry when he called last. Matt was a different person when he came to the house to figure out an estimate. Once I signed the contract he seemed to always be angry and curt with me. He did not want to be bothered with questions. He accused me of not answering my calls which was a flat out lie. I always responded immediately to him and to all his sub-contractors. He wanted me to approve whatever he showed me regardless of quality or size. I could go on and on about how I was treated by Matt at Reel Construction but I would rather begin the process of forgetting the experience. read more

I would not recommend Reel construction. They did a kitchen repair for us and Matt was extremely rude when I questioned details of the job. They waited at least 30 days between little finishing jobs to complete the job. When they reported they were completed with the job, they had left trim work falling over on the bottom of the free standing cabinets. We decided that it was less stressful to not call them back for that. The grouting for the floor tiles was done poorly, the back splash was left unfinished around the corners, and it goes on and on. read more

We had this company do a small garage wall/door repair and they did a great job. Very quick, efficient, and worked without interfering with our daily lives. The staff were all very nice, and they spoke with our insurance company for us to work out the details. It really looks as if no damage ever happened to our home. They will be our go to company for any future projects. read more

Reel Construction performed a rebuild on part of my home after a fire. We ran into significant, unexpected problems with the permit and other issues. The professionals at Reel were patient, fair and walked us through everything. The final product wildly exceeded my expectations and we came in ON BUDGET. I cannot recommend this company enough. Quality of actual work was very good. As work was done on interior of damaged wall - Kelly (superintendent) provided pictures prior to wall being sealed up. Because work was not able to start until deposit was received office staff seemed irked by my follow up calls. After work was completed - ladder was left in living room and toilet seat was left up by work crew. There was some confusion regarding replacement of one window - which one to replace. We explained to the Reel several times which window was to be replaced, but then on day of replacement they contacted me and I advised them incorrectly on which window to replace. read more

We could not be more pleased with the service Reel Construction provided. We suffered a major loss due to fire and smoke damage. Basically the interior of the entire house needed to be replaced. Everyone at Reel, from Susan the receptionist at the front desk, Scott the project manager, Kelly the job superintendent, to Eric the insurance estimator could not have been more helpful throughout the yearlong ordeal of reconstructing the house. After completion, they promptly addressed the need to inspect and approve the use and working condition of the swamp cooler. They were in frequent contact with us throughout the yearlong process, keeping us informed and asking how we wanted to proceed when our input was necessary and/or required. read more

I can not rave enough about Reel Construction, they are second to none. We are new residents of Seminole, FL and bought a home that ended up needing some MAJOR repairs and renovations (including structural). Not knowing anyone locally for the job, we had to depend on our gut to choose our General Contractor. We reached out to countless contractors, called numbers off of vehicles driving down the road and trolled the internet for more hours than we wished. Our scope included: -Demo the entire exterior of the house down to structural wood and replace 30 year old cedar planks with Hardie lap siding and nasty tar paper wrap with Tyvek. -Eliminate 2 windows entirely, convert 2 windows to doors (one sliding and one french), replace 11 other 30 year old windows with up to date, code compliant Anderson windows, convert 1 sliding glass door to a window and cut off a dilapidated, rotted 12ft x 8ft balcony on a third floor. -New roof. Which he was honest in telling me that I was better off contacting a roofer independently and gave me 3 roofers to contact. We ended up Going with Acoma Roofing...also a total home run, great experience, phenomenal outfit! Jory was punctual, attentive, accommodating and answered the phone (or called me back by COB) every time I needed him. He is friendly, clean cut and very professional. He is well educated, courteous around my wife and kids and well mannered. Basically the dude has it together and is not a disheveled mess. He made us feel comfortable from the moment we met. He caries himself with the confidence that no job is to big but remains humble enough that you would hire him for a simple bathroom remodel or an inexpensive deck addition...I can confidently say that he has the knowledge and skill to tackle any job. He took care of every detail from pulling permits to assisting with my material order from Home Depot. He negotiated with the scaffolding company on my behalf and took a bill that potentially was $10k to half of that. He coordinated every city and county inspection and did EVERYTHING on the up and up. I do not have a shadow of a doubt that he is the most honest General Contractor that I have met or will ever meet, and that extends to his crews BTW... On several occasions his crews worked at our house with full access to the inside (we had no option) while we were out of town or away for the entire day. Most of the time he was not there the whole day, leaving Crispin, his main foreman in charge. At no point were any valuables in our house (or garage) even looked at, there was plenty of opportunity for stuff to go missing and it never happened, it's not even a thought to these guys. With a lot of hesitation, I gave him the keys to my house, but our stuff remained as safe as if I was there watching them...it blows my mind that people this honest still exist. Everybody from Jory himself, Crispin, Pablo, Vicente, Thomas, Ken and down to the newest helper were there just trying to make an honest living. They represent what is great about America! The quality of his work: I am in the elevator business, I came from oil and power, I know my way around tools...on a few occasions I tried to cut some corners (not compromising the end product or look, but mainly to save money) and he put his foot down and did things right. On one occasion even saying that his name was on the line and he would work with me on the cost of doing it right if he needed to but refused to cut a corner, even when I was asking him to! In any event, we ran into a lot of water and termite damage to the house that was out of scope and he could have nickle and dimmed me to death but instead chose to keep my final bill reasonable (he is not the cheapest guy out there but he is the best by a long shot, and you truly get what you pay for). Now check this out, and I still have a hard time believing this myself, but, he started my job the day we agreed, he finished my job 15 days ahead of schedule and the final bill was within 2% of his original budget... Everything you have read so far is why I am taking the time (that I don't really have) out of my busy day to write such a detailed review. He deserves to be raved about and no, he did not bride me to write this! As you can read, Jory Romano and his crews far exceeded our expectations. Reel construction just finished returning our house to a home after water damage. Our first contact was with Joe ( awesome first person to meet as a representative for Reel) he was extremely patient in explaining how everything worked with the insurance company. He did a great job working with our insurance company to make sure we received adequate funding to restore our home. Amazing customer service, always got right back with answers to any questions I had in a very timely professional manner. The work crew that came to our home were all wonderfully polite and professional. Gus, Augustin and Rafael were extremely tidy as they worked and respectful of our home and our space. They really took pride in their work and making sure that I as the customer was satisfied. As with all construction jobs a small unforeseen challenge arose but Kelly the superintendent and Dan ( who treated the project like it was his own home ) kept the project right on track and worked with the issue until I was completely satisfied with the outcome. They were extremely professional. We would absolutely use Reel again and recommend it to our friends. Restoration work and construction in your home can be stressful but Reel did everything possible to minimize the stress and truly restore our house back to a home.
