The "ocean view" ground units no longer have a view of the ocean . Extremely disappointing!

Shout out to Cassie, Rosie and Joey with Valet who remembered Bailey's name immediately. We were offered champagne at check in and given a nice map of the grounds. The resort itself is a little on the older side but all the amenities are still well kept. With my IHG status, we were greeted with a nice bottle of wine and some sweets. The room was clean and had a huge dining room and kitchen area. It had all the essentials for a homey and comfortable stay. We loved that there were dog treats and little gift pouches in the reception area. The pool area is big and had pleasant lounge chairs. The gym is missing a trendmill, there are bikes for cardio but not great options. The restaurant we had breakfast at was pretty good. The chicken and waffles was amazing and the bagel sandwich was delicious.

I stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Vero Beach, FL last night primarily to get away from the…read moreloud construction noise next door to my house. I just wanted a quiet, good night's rest. (The Positive) Everything went smoothly during check-in, and I got to my room around 4:00 PM. Around 7:00 PM, I called the attendant at the front desk and asked for a couple of snacks, a soda, and a water from their lobby snack bar. I recently had a very complicated back surgery and can barely walk, so I offered to pay extra for the inconvenience of having someone bring them up. She politely agreed, promptly brought the items up (totaling $9.00), and I gave her $20.00, telling her to keep the change. She was incredibly sweet and appreciative. This level of service was the highlight of my stay. (The Issues) 1. Misleading Signage: I noticed a sign on my floor clearly stating "Vending and Ice Machines" with an arrow pointing down the hall. Due to my surgical condition, walking is difficult, but I made the effort only to find an ice machine--there were no vending machines. 2. Unacceptable Noise: The main reason for my one-star review is the noise and lack of consideration. Traffic Noise: The hotel's location, right off two heavy-traffic roads, made it impossible to get away from the constant noise, even being on the second floor. I had to use an App on my phone for white noise. Housekeeping Disturbance: At approximately 7:45-8:00 AM, the housekeeping staff started cleaning rooms. Keep in mind the hotel was barely 1/4 full, and check-out time wasn't until 12:00 PM with check-in time being 3:00 PM. I was immediately woken by their extreme loudness--it sounded like a football team! I was beyond furious because the entire reason for my stay was to get a long, restful sleep. I struggled to walk to my door, opened it to see the commotion, and found only two staff members directly across the hall. I simply looked at them and closed my door, but they immediately seemed to get louder, laughing and talking very loudly. I was planning on sleeping until check-out time. Instead, I wasted $225.00. I should have just spent the money elsewhere. Also, given the severity of my condition, I regret that I had to drive at all.

I picked this Hotel sight unseen, as I have a dog with a severe idiopathic epilepsy, and there is a 24-hour ER Vet just 5 minutes away, in case we had an emergency. What a wonderful and pleasant surprise this hotel was! The grounds are beautiful, and I imagine that under normal conditions, this property is a true joy to enjoy outside. All of the rooms have a mid-century modern flair. Expect a lot of impressive, retro details that make this hotel a true escape from the ordinary! This hotel is a cinder block fortress! While we endured CAT 3 hurricane conditions here, we felt very safe and our only "hassle" was losing cable/internet for about 24 hours. This was not their fault, as nearly 80% of the Vero Beach area was totally without power for several days after. Even with hurricane conditions approaching, all of the hotel staff were very friendly and very busy tending to our needs and safety. If this hotel was such a pleasure during hurricane conditions? Just imagine the pleasure your stay would be when the weather is not so hostile! They took great care of me when I was in need! THANK YOU !! The "Nautical Room" 102 at South Beach Place may just be the nicest hotel room I have ever enjoyed! I am planning to come back and visit soon for a much less stressful, hurricane-free experience!

We went in December. Barely anyone there. Its like having your own private beach! Heather was outstanding in answering our questions before and after we booked, and welcomed us immediately upon arrival. With only 4 cottages, this place is quiet and cozy, and perfectly located. Cottage 4 is closest to the beach, but I don't believe there is much of an actual view. I could be wrong. We were in Cottage 1 which is closest to the road, but hidden behind shrubbery for peace and tranquility, and offers the most privacy away from the other cottages. Our cottage had absolutely everything we needed - plates, utensils, plastic wrap, seasonings, electric lighter for barbecuing, bowls, pitchers, lots of books, extra light bulbs and toilet paper, a tea kettle, microwave, dishwasher, stove, oven, full sized fridge, and a hairdryer in the bathroom. Even the beach towels, chairs, and umbrella were of nice quality and clean. We ordered Uber each time we wanted to go in to downtown Orchid Island and typically paid about $7 each way. Uber doesn't understand the exact address so just tell your driver you're at the corner of Ocean and Sea Gull when he/she contacts you. Overall, this has been a truly pleasurable long weekend at Seahorse. We are still here with two more nights to go, and loving every minute of it!

i'm hard pressed to really call this place a resort. it more like a historically iconic hotel, on…read morethe beach, that has kept most of it's laid back, dive-y charm, then added 2 more modern buildings on the back side that don't reflect the beachy lifestyle look. we were in one of the original buildings, our room faced a parking lot which is shared with waldo's restaurant. parking can be difficult to find a spot near your room and they encourage you to park in the back lot and walk around to your rooms, which sucks when you're trying to unload or load your car when coming or going. many of the employees park in this tiny lot and tie up space for most of the day, seen a lot of restaurant patrons leave their cars in the lot overnight, without a dash pass identifying you as a hotel guest. our room was tiny & weirdly laid out....teeny tiny kitchen without a dishwasher, so i had to put all the dishes, glasses & silverware in the sink, boil water and rewash everything because i don't know who washed the dishes before us & what their hygiene habits are. only 1 tv in the living room, which you can't see from the "bedroom" which is actually a small room with sliding panel doors, THAT DON'T WORK, for privacy if needed. the linens, bed & pillows were all clean, soft and comfortable. the amount of broken closet doors, tiles, lamps is crazy. i get the whole dive charm that they want to display, but for pete's sake, at least get a handy man in there to fix all the broken crap. if you are a stickler for perfection & posh details, THIS PLACE IS NOT FOR YOU. if you can dig that lazy, laid back, dumpy divey charm, then come here. we never used the pool. the 1 pool was attached to the restaurant and all you can smell is cigarettes and listen to loud drunks & music, the other pool called "the quiet pool" was over by the newer buildings, never saw it. we don't come to the beach to swim in a pool. front desk people are so laid back & cool. this is the first time a hotel didn't ask for a credit card to be put on file for incidentals, they just said "we trust you". AND i was really surprised & chuckled at the fact that our room keys were actual metal keys & not key cards. they do push the "rustic charm" to the limit, but as long as i have a comfortable bed, a place to shower, sh*t & shave, i'm good, not on vacay to hang out in a hotel room all day, i'm there to experience the area. ***the only complaint i have is that this place considers itself a NON SMOKING RESORT, but puts ashtrays on all the tables outside of the rooms, so you're always walking through the stink of cigarettes someplace on the property
