Inside or outside... you will see ROACHES at the (LACKING QUALITY) Econo Lodge. Might as well check into a shelter.

Terrible hotel. Worst staff... except for Jody, Valerie, and Anna. I was threatened by a staff member. Her name is Margentina. She screamed that she was going to "come out there and whip my ass" from behind the protective glass. I had no idea that the glass was for guests' PROTECTION FROM MENACING STAFF MEMBERS. There is a porta potty in the parking lot which is used by the drug addicts, who camp out in tents, in the parking lot. These are your neighbors, I guess. Joe also at the front desk, was a two-faced bastard. Very deceptive. Jay the GM was just rude. Yelled at me and defended the employee MARGENTINA- who threatened me. Be prepared to FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE at this DUMP... conveniently located 5 miles from the beach! Then... I get this message in my inbox: Dear Eulie, Thank you for taking the time to complete our online survey regarding your recent stay at our hotel. On behalf of our entire team, I would like to apologize for failing to exceed your expectations which is confusing to say the least. What's strange is the real reason which you left out as to why the hotel refused you service the SECOND time you came back to stay! Eulie, please sir do not portray the hotel like this with your wild comments about everything you said and yet, still wanted to stay again. You didn't complain about the location, the staff and even myself being"tolerable" when we spoke for a few minutes in the office daily! Sincerely, Joe Econolodge 7725690900 Jay and or Joe, First off... address me as Mr. Chambers. We are not friends. Very unprofessional of you. Second, why you opt to respond privately to me is beyond my comprehension and and beyond unprofessional. Stick to the PUBLIC platform within the app for any future correspondence. Thank you. You didn't care to have a dialogue with me face to face when I was in the lobby. You are not entitled to my private spaces. No wonder your front desk agent Steve thought it was ok to jokingly knock on my door after 11pm. You set a poor example. I would have gladly addressed any and all issues at that time. Thank you for the least sincere apology I'm history. I assume that is why you chose to send it secretly, and away from the public. Also, that you for attempting to throw shade and insult me by making vague insinuations. You are further exposed. How dare you? This is what professional customer service looks like to you ? This is why I called you two-faced. You are so subservient and amiable in person. But behind closed doors you are rude and condescending. Please do not continue to harass me privately. Keep any and all dialogue between us in the public arena. We are not friends. Let's stick to the business of your poorly run motel. Also... do something about all the roaches.

I have to admit, I was concerned with my first impression. The front desk was changing shifts when I got there and I heard them saying they hadn't finished cleaning the rooms that were reserved for the day. That ended up being the only issue which wasn't much since I wasn't planning on actually using the room right away. I just wanted to check in and leave some stuff in the room but driving around with it for another hour wasn't a problem. The staff was very friendly. The room was better than I expected. It was very clean and a lot more spacious than I thought. The fridge worked well and there was a microwave but I didn't need to use it. The AC worked very well and kept the room very cold, just how I like it. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and I slept great! The bathroom area was huge. I'm used to the large sink areas but the actual bathroom with the toilet and shower was so spacious that I felt it was too big! I did wish the water pressure got a little harder but it wasn't a problem. The water got hot quickly and stayed hot. The hotel was pretty empty so it was very quiet. First time I stayed at a hotel and never heard anyone outside, above or next door to my room. The surrounding area is pretty quiet looking as well. The pool was closed still due to COVID but I wasn't planning on using it, so I can't rate that. I also checked out before breakfast so I can't rate that either. If I'm in the area and needing a room in the future, I'll definitely come back here.

The coffee machine is dusty and looks like it hasnt been cleaned in months. If you're scared about Covid don't stay here

This is the actual pillows included in the rooms... Aka chicklets
    Heather H.

I'm giving it one star, for the great parking spots available... Because this place is empty! We were given 2 Chiclets posing as pillows. When I called the front desk to inform him we will need at least two more, three would be better. The front desk told me he only had one available, AND it would cost us $10 more a night. My brother went to the front desk to show him the tiny pillows, and request extra. He was told it is rule from his manager, so he asked to speak with the manager... He refused to call him. So we asked for a full refund and we are leaving. He then told us only my manager can give full refunds... Ok so once again... Get him on the phone. Again he refused. We understand this isn't a 5 star resort, but it will continue to be empty and go downhill. If the lack of customer service and charging $10 per pillow per night continues. See pillows below. Also notice the picture of the amenities... We can get a crib to use, for free... We can get an entire roll away bed for$10.00 not sure if that would include a pillow.

Shout out to Cassie, Rosie and Joey with Valet who remembered Bailey's name immediately. We were offered champagne at check in and given a nice map of the grounds. The resort itself is a little on the older side but all the amenities are still well kept. With my IHG status, we were greeted with a nice bottle of wine and some sweets. The room was clean and had a huge dining room and kitchen area. It had all the essentials for a homey and comfortable stay. We loved that there were dog treats and little gift pouches in the reception area. The pool area is big and had pleasant lounge chairs. The gym is missing a trendmill, there are bikes for cardio but not great options. The restaurant we had breakfast at was pretty good. The chicken and waffles was amazing and the bagel sandwich was delicious.

I just wanted a quiet, good night's rest. (The Positive) Everything went smoothly during check-in, and I got to my room around 4:00 PM. Around 7:00 PM, I called the attendant at the front desk and asked for a couple of snacks, a soda, and a water from their lobby snack bar. I recently had a very complicated back surgery and can barely walk, so I offered to pay extra for the inconvenience of having someone bring them up. She politely agreed, promptly brought the items up (totaling $9.00), and I gave her $20.00, telling her to keep the change. She was incredibly sweet and appreciative. This level of service was the highlight of my stay. (The Issues) 1. Misleading Signage: I noticed a sign on my floor clearly stating "Vending and Ice Machines" with an arrow pointing down the hall. Due to my surgical condition, walking is difficult, but I made the effort only to find an ice machine--there were no vending machines. 2. Unacceptable Noise: The main reason for my one-star review is the noise and lack of consideration. Traffic Noise: The hotel's location, right off two heavy-traffic roads, made it impossible to get away from the constant noise, even being on the second floor. I had to use an App on my phone for white noise. Housekeeping Disturbance: At approximately 7:45-8:00 AM, the housekeeping staff started cleaning rooms. Keep in mind the hotel was barely 1/4 full, and check-out time wasn't until 12:00 PM with check-in time being 3:00 PM. I was immediately woken by their extreme loudness--it sounded like a football team! I was beyond furious because the entire reason for my stay was to get a long, restful sleep. I struggled to walk to my door, opened it to see the commotion, and found only two staff members directly across the hall. I simply looked at them and closed my door, but they immediately seemed to get louder, laughing and talking very loudly. I was planning on sleeping until check-out time. Instead, I wasted $225.00. I should have just spent the money elsewhere. Also, given the severity of my condition, I regret that I had to drive at all.

I picked this Hotel sight unseen, as I have a dog with a severe idiopathic epilepsy, and there is a 24-hour ER Vet just 5 minutes away, in case we had an emergency. All of the rooms have a mid-century modern flair. Expect a lot of impressive, retro details that make this hotel a true escape from the ordinary! This hotel is a cinder block fortress! While we endured CAT 3 hurricane conditions here, we felt very safe and our only "hassle" was losing cable/internet for about 24 hours. This was not their fault, as nearly 80% of the Vero Beach area was totally without power for several days after. Even with hurricane conditions approaching, all of the hotel staff were very friendly and very busy tending to our needs and safety. If this hotel was such a pleasure during hurricane conditions? Just imagine the pleasure your stay would be when the weather is not so hostile! They took great care of me when I was in need! THANK YOU !! The "Nautical Room" 102 at South Beach Place may just be the nicest hotel room I have ever enjoyed! I am planning to come back and visit soon for a much less stressful, hurricane-free experience!

Heather was outstanding in answering our questions before and after we booked, and welcomed us immediately upon arrival. With only 4 cottages, this place is quiet and cozy, and perfectly located. We were in Cottage 1 which is closest to the road, but hidden behind shrubbery for peace and tranquility, and offers the most privacy away from the other cottages. Our cottage had absolutely everything we needed - plates, utensils, plastic wrap, seasonings, electric lighter for barbecuing, bowls, pitchers, lots of books, extra light bulbs and toilet paper, a tea kettle, microwave, dishwasher, stove, oven, full sized fridge, and a hairdryer in the bathroom. Even the beach towels, chairs, and umbrella were of nice quality and clean. We ordered Uber each time we wanted to go in to downtown Orchid Island and typically paid about $7 each way. Uber doesn't understand the exact address so just tell your driver you're at the corner of Ocean and Sea Gull when he/she contacts you. Overall, this has been a truly pleasurable long weekend at Seahorse. We are still here with two more nights to go, and loving every minute of it!

AND i was really surprised & chuckled at the fact that our room keys were actual metal keys & not key cards. they do push the "rustic charm" to the limit, but as long as i have a comfortable bed, a place to shower, sh*t & shave, i'm good, not on vacay to hang out in a hotel room all day, i'm there to experience the area. ***the only complaint i have is that this place considers itself a NON SMOKING RESORT, but puts ashtrays on all the tables outside of the rooms, so you're always walking through the stink of cigarettes someplace on the property
