When we moved to Reedley from Walnut Creek, my husband who is extremely cautious when picking a mechanic (he used to collect classic cars and understood well that one cannot trust most mechanics and is quite familiar with the games many play to take advantage of the average customer). Eddie at Legendary is the most trustworthy of mechanics and business owner and is an excellent mechanic, with old school knowledge and well versed with our modern computer systems in today's automobiles and their failures and often misreadings (thus helpful to understand old school approaches that can many times solve the problem without replacing a module or part that isn't bad as the computer thinks). I can assure you that you will be pleased with their expertise, their being extremely honest and ethical and the wonderful value for in what they charge. We have recommended them repeatedly to family and friends, as well as strangers and everyone has been very happy with the service and price and follow-up customer service; especially knowing that they will not be taken advantage of and knowing their daughters and wives can rest assured that they can go in and say they don't know what's wrong with their car and will be in excellent hands. After the brake inspection, the quote suddenly changed to $500-$700, claiming they needed to resurface the rotors -- and that this price was only for the rear brakes. Julio and Luis were the representatives helping me, and throughout the process the pricing kept changing with no clear explanation. They also told me the front brakes would cost around $900, even though I made it very clear I only wanted the rear brake pads replaced. In the end, I was charged $850 just for the rear brakes, which is way above the original quote and completely unreasonable. The lack of transparency and constant upcharging made the whole experience feel misleading and like I was being taken advantage of. I won't be coming back, and I'd recommend others be very cautious before agreeing to anything here

He promised to use what happened as a learning experience & to get better. I respect that. Hopefully my experience is not the norm. The owner did the best he could & I appreciate him. I had the truck repaired at another shop for $750 total. BAD EXPERIENCE Although they present themselves as honest, kind, caring people they will proceed literally rape with their prices. I took my 2018 GMC Duramax Diesel is because of a reduced power/service emissions code. They lured me in with an offer to check it for free. Once they had possession of the truck, they called me with the codes they had found and proceeded to tell me it would need further investigation to determine exactly what the cause of the problem is at a cost of $480! Feeling I had no other alternative and I need the truck repaired ASAP, I reluctantly agreed. The next day they contacted me telling me I most likely needed to replace injector number five but would advise replacing the other three just to be on the safe side. Over $3500 in cost to do the 4 injectors. I was shocked! I asked what their labor rate was & Matt said between $160 - $170 per hour depending on the job. He said it would take over 12 hours to do it and there was $300 in gaskets to replace plus $300 per injector. By the way, this may or may not solve my actual problem that could very well be related to the DEF system or EGR. So for $480 you would think they would have tested all systems and everything related to my problem not focusing only on a misfire in injector #5. After a day of deliberating back-and-forth, he agreed to contact the "owner" to see if they could reduce their rate and do the job for any less. The best they could do was throw in the $480 diagnostic included in the $3500 estimate. I turned him down and had no choice but to pay their outrageous fee of $480 that did not determine much. So here I am with a truck that does not run properly has not been diagnosed properly and I am out of $480. Now I must take it to another shop. I really thought I had found a good shop in a small town that would be so much better than big city dealerships but I was wrong. I would never go there again and I will never refer anyone. I regret going there. Expensive lesson to learn.

With some pacing and recentering myself I dialed up Eagle's Auto Repair, told the mechanic my problem and he said he'd be the one I could count on. I live out of my car so I was in a little bit of panic but as I arrived to the shop my worries were put aside after understanding he was very knowledgeable and very passionate with his (currently) 15 years of experience working on a large range of cars. I felt blessed in this unfortunate coincidence because I felt I was in good hands and on top of that we even went out to eat soup at the local pho shop. Overall great guy, and definitely someone you want to keep around. His motto was along the lines of "the details matter, and doing it correctly the first time is just as important". And after hearing that in every conversation made me rest assured I was in the right hands.
