*Cash only! Buuuut worth it*…read more I was in Saint Louis for one (1) night recently in early autumn, and my pal, STL Yelp Community Manager Max R, suggested our group meet here for a queer dance party on a Saturday night. UMMMM, YES PLEASE. My boyfriend and I showed up around 10:30 and were ecstatic to find how low-key and unique the place was, and knowing how inclusive it is makes it all the more badass. He grabbed us each a can of Hamm's, because when in Rome, and we headed out to the back area to meet our friends. This was where I became truly invested. Livery Company has a fabulous outdoor space, and when I say "fabulous," I mean it feels like you're hanging out in someone's backyard, except you are at a bar. It was about 55-60 degrees on this particular Saturday, so pretty chilly, but we still very much enjoyed ourselves around the big bonfire that was burning, because we were surrounded by both people we knew, and people who were welcoming even though we were new. The entire vibe of Livery Company is divey-inclusive-comforting, and I think that's the highest compliment I can give. I'm SO glad we were invited to this particular space during a very quick trip to STL. Thank you for existing, Livery Company.

Quintessential Dive Bar!…read more When you look up South City Dive Bar on Google, Livery Company on South Broadway should be the first one on the list. Everything about it makes it the quintessential South City dive bar. Emily Ebeling has been a city business owner for quite some time. She first opened Livery Company on Cherokee Street, and her clientele grew quickly. Years after she closed that location, the South Broadway has just as much appeal as its predecessor. Cheap bar and unique music. What else can you ask for? LC hosts artists from different genres, but mostly singer-songwriters. They have a monthly songwriters showcase where local musicians share brand new works. I have met some very cool people and now have more talented friends than ever, all because of Livery's commitment to local artists. And the beer is cheap. Yes, they had me at cheap beer. You can get domestic cans for two dollars each, and many of the craft beers are four dollars. I can drink all night on less than a twenty dollar bill. That has dive bar written all over it. And cash only. I am a huge fan. Establishments that welcome diversity and celebrate local talent are well-appreciate. Cheers to Livery Company!

Let's get the covid stuff out of the way first: no one wears masks, staff or customers. I'm…read morevaccinated fully so I'm not as worried but just a heads up. Now onto the other stuff: this is the definition of a dive bar. But it's not bad at all, has a good neighborhood feel. Drinks are priced well ($4 for an Incarnation for example) so it's definitely cheaper than say, CWE. PEOPLE DO SMOKE INSIDE, you have been warned. The only cons are the Covid protocols & smoking inside. They have the doors open to outside though on nice days so it's not too bad. They also have a pretty dope patio. I think I'm the youngest in here at 37 TBH.

There was a diverse crowd and it actually seemed like a real lesbian bar? I've been looking for one of those in St Louis since I moved here a few years ago, so it was so great to see so many women there. The only problem was the bartender, really. He was clearly inebriated and couldn't handle drink orders. Like my friend ordered a vodka soda with a splash of redbull and he had to be walked through it, it was crazy. Maybe he was new? I'll be back though.

The cocktail list is solid, and the beer selection is seriously impressive, packed with a great mix of local breweries and unique options. There's also a nice outdoor seating area, but honestly, the magic of this spot is at the bar. The atmosphere there really brings everything together. One of the coolest touches is the large display of vinyl records, it adds a ton of character and gives the whole place a unique, almost nostalgic energy. We didn't try the food this time since we just stopped in for drinks, but it's definitely on the list for next visit. Looking forward to coming back and spending more time enjoying this gem of a spot.

I was in need of killing time before a crochet lesson down the street and I thought enjoying a cocktail was a good idea. I was able to get a seat at the bar and immediately starting reading the menu of their signature cocktails. I went with, Sign Painter. It was served in a fluted glass and was made with rye whiskey. I'm a big fan of rye and I found this drink very refreshing. I am a cocktail snob, I enjoy a well made cocktail. Being a snob, I want a mixologist that prepares a masterful cocktail. Enjoying my cocktail and watching the gentleman working behind the bar, I can honestly say, he is a masterful bartender. This visit, I did not order any food items. However, seeing the food severed around me, I'll definitely be back to enjoy to enjoy some Crab Stuffed Mushrooms or a Crab Cake Sandwich. The inside of the bar is compact. In addition to the bar sitting, there's a row of booths along the wall. Beyond the barroom, is a backroom that's is pretty comfy and classy, too. In front of the building is a welcoming patio, that I'll be back to check out in better weather. After just one visit, I know I'll be back. If I still lived in STL, I'd probably be a regular.
