I know it was them because I had a flat tire a few days before I came in and it was gone. Don't go there, go to Reds instead. Anyhoo, I've never had a problem coming here. I knew the owner only slightly from him selling a Jaguar automobile a couple years ago that I didn't buy from him. So when I needed my Jaguar serviced I remembered that he (Tom) had had one so he was familiar with Jags I had him do my inspection and diagnose what was wrong with my Jaguar well he told me it would cost $3400 to fix and $1000 to get running I was shocked at the $3400 figure and the $1000 figure I was prepared to pay well to make a short story shorter I just paid to have my car inspected by him and went to Midas which I would have never considered before I forgot to mention that I also needed to put my tag properly on my car and asked Tom for a screwdriver and he denied me so I was quite happy when Midas did their own diagnostics and found that something just needed tightened with regards to my power steering and they only charged me $172 for a service that Tom at Reds and Son's was going to charge me $3400 for so I think that explains my rating I wish you had negative numbers because it definitely was less than a positive experience. read more

Took my car here to get some things fixed, and the price was higher than other places I had been quoted. I declined service, and when I went to get my car back, they didn't reattach my wheel properly, causing an even more dangerous situation and an additional $400 of damages to my car. Don't go here, you can find a cheaper and better quality repair elsewhere. read more

PEOPLE, please try to find other better place. I was fixing my BMW related with oil. Some spare parts need to be replace and I paid for almost $3000 for those. But less than 7 months my car was broke, I could smell the burn and little smoke came out from inside the hood. I couldn't even start my car. My car got towed to BMW dealer. They told me that the spare parts was not genuine and the oil was all over because they did a dirty job. Some hoses was unplugged as well. They don't care at all. I spent another $6000 to BMW dealer to fix all the mess that Red & Sons did. Don't waste your time & money. Think hundred times to come here. read more

if i could give 0 stars, this 'repair' shop would get it. Many years ago, After paying my bill, my car stalled 5 miles into my trip. When I went back to Reds i was called every foul name in the book and threatened with a 'beating'. I was a 22 year old woman. I was so scared and intimated, I ran out of there, and never returned. Ive never forgotten, obviously. And now, so many years later I happened to see their shop across the street from a condo for sale. Don't know if they're still intimidating young women, but I would urge caution when looking at this shop for auto repair. read more

I called in to get the regular annual inspection done. They were able to get me in the next day which was great. The process was easy. Only thing that made me sick to my stomach was being charged for something that wasn't part of the inspection and without letting me know prior to doing it. When I ask about the extra charge, I was told labor is not free. Unfortunately, I can not do business with that type of service and therefore will not be returning. read more

I have to update my previous review on 07/13/2015. By that time, they give me estimate to replace and reprogram the right rear caliper. He told me that he cannot control the right rear caliper with scanner, he has to replace and reprogram the caliper. He give me a quote with 700+. I get the same quote in Smith Volkswagen dealership with 620. I went there today and replace the caliper. The dealer told me why you came to replace your caliper without diagnose. I said I already did. After they replaced the caliper, the warning light is still on. Dealer told me the exact same thing "My scanner cannot control your caliper, that doesn't necessarily mean your caliper is broken, maybe something else." Dealer did another diagnose and charged me 112 dollars, and the result is electric system error. I made another appointment on Friday to fix this. I will never go back to this stupid Reds and Son garage and I will never trust any advertisement on Google. Good luck, Reds and Son. read more

I love Reds and Son. I've brought four cars to them for service over the years. The are a great Indy shop. I own a BMW X5 4.4i which is unbelievably expensive to maintain. While it is still unbelievably expensive, Reds makes it slightly more tolerable and I feel confident that when I leave my car has been serviced properly and my issues resolved. I love that they thoroughly check out the car, give a price for needed repairs and quickly get your car back on the road. I highly recommend Reds and Son if you own a German car though they work in all makes. read more

These guys are right around the corner, easy to get in with, and provide a quick turn around. Perfect for someone like me with a hectic work schedule. They always accommodate me by allowing me to leave my car an extra day or two if I can't pick it up right away. Anthony is very helpful in answering my questions and gets back to me in a timely manner. The prices are reasonable. Tom is a scam shyster. I needed a new clutch; I went here and he quoted me around 1200. I called the dealer and they said 1400 out the door, so I went with Red's. After the job was done he said he needed to "resurface the flywheel" (I'm told by another mechanic that a new flywheel comes in the clutch replacement package so they never actually "resurface" it they just replace it). Anyway total came to 1500 with emissions and inspections. As I was paying I asked if they had checked the oil or the tires and they said no, I would have to bring it back. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I just paid $1500 - more than it would cost at the dealer - and you couldn't even check the oil or the tires? Moreover aren't these simple items part of the inspections process? I get it a mile down the road and realize the front left tire only has 15 psi - it was so low you could tell it was low just from looking at it. After this encounter I won't be going back to Red's, which is a shame because he was right across the street from my apartment. Could have kept me as a life-long customer instead he decides to make the quick buck. UPDATE: several months later and the car now shudders in first gear. It never did that before. Maybe it didn't need resurfacing? Or maybe it needed a new flywheel instead? Also I was pulled over recently and told I had a rear brake light out. I'm not sure these guys even inspected anything at all! Shady business practices. Avoid! read more

The staff seems friendly enough, but don't let that fool you. They'll charge you an arm and a leg for problems that aren't even there. I went in for a simple state inspection and an oil change and was quoted at over $1,300 because they supposedly needed to replace my brakes. I left for a second opinion, but was still charged over $150 just for the oil change due to the "labor" behind it. Give me a break. Oh, and the next garage that I took my car to said my brakes were fine. Stay away from this place! read more

I used them for my first inspection in PA, and was rudely introduced to the "rape" that V.C. descibes. I took in my freshly inspected by my mechanic back home Jeep, only to have it pass emissions (which they charged me extra to perform because my car is "too old") and then they came to me with an estimate of $500 to get all my lights working. They essentially tried to hold my car hostage, charging me for extra labor to diagnose bogus problems. They are not to be trusted. Take your car to 11th Street Auto, where they don't try to give you the run around. (They passed my car with no issues, after I replaced my own taillights for $3.) read more

I had a pretty terrible experience dealing with Reds in the last few weeks. I hate to write a negative review online, but I hope I can save others from going through what I went through which was a lot of hassle and a lot of money. I own a 2008 BMW and my service engine light came on. I should have taken it straight to the dealership, but I decided to save myself some time and maybe money by bringing it to Reds since I live nearby. I was also due for my inspection so I decided to kill two birds with one stone. I dropped my car off on a Monday. A few hours later, Reds said they diagnosed the issues and I gave them the go-ahead to do the work. I picked my car up the next day, paid $1300 and went on my way. Fast forward one week and to my surprise, the service engine light comes on AGAIN! What the? I call Reds and they tell me to bring the car back. I figured maybe it was a fluke but $800 later, Reds said they found the issue and fixed it this time! Fast Forward another week. Guess what? My service engine light comes on. Again. I'm sure you can understand my frustration with Reds at this point. I'm out $2100 and the problem is NOT solved. I bring my car in for a 3rd time to Reds. Now they don't know what the issue is. I picked up my car and decided that I would not be returning to Reds in the future. One week since I picked my car up, and the service engine light is back on. 4 times in less than a month. I'm $2100 poorer and my car is not fixed. I made an appointment with BMW service for tomorrow morning. I regret that I ever took it to Reds to begin with. The people there are nice enough but I would say that calling themselves a "Foreign Car Specialist" might be a bit of a stretch. The only thing they did was take my money and not fix any issues. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I took my car in for a starter issue with my Audi A8 that was diagnosed at another mechanic who does not work on Audi A8s. So I had the car towed the 0.8 miles. First, they don't call with the issue diagnoses or an estimate. When I called, I was shocked to see that they decided to order the part already without checking in with me. I asked for an estimate for labor- and no answer. This was by now, Friday 3:30pm. And, they are closed on weekends. Then I receive a call on Monday morning asking me to call back to hear about the estimate. When I called an hour later, they had already started work. They called me 4 hours later saying that the car was ready. When I got there, they had damaged my suspensions and they were not working. An hour later, the owner claimed that they were not working when I brought it in. The other mechanic can verify that the suspensions were on when it left their facility. And I was there during the tow too. Anyways, Tamir had his crew tend to the loose wire in the suspension. Prices are the same or more than the dealer, with much less expertise here. And the dealer gives you a loaner too. I thought it would be more convenient, but I was living in a dream world. The area around is also very sketchy. read more

They did a quick and inexpensive PA state inspection for my car. I was happy because they didn't try to charge me for lots of other stuff and even replaced one of my bulbs on the house! I was driving through the city on my way to New York when my car began to shake and make a terrible noise. I had no idea what was going on, and was afraid I would get stranded in Philadelphia. I found Reds & Son on my phone and gave them a desperate call. They told me to come on by and they would see what they could do, even though they were closing in 15 minutes. By the time I got there, they were technically closed, but they took the time to take my car for a drive and check it out anyway. Turns out, the mechanic who had last rotated my wheels had done a poor job, and one of the wheels had come loose. They fixed it and had me back on the road in under 30 minutes. And the best part is they didn't even charge me! By far the nicest, most efficient car service I have ever received. read more

After calling a few places I chose Red's and Sons because they were polite on the phone, prices were comparable to some of the chain stores I called and they were able to let me bring my car in when I wanted to. They did a great job and I went back for an oil change a couple months later. Again, great service with comparable prices and no wait. I plan to go back for new tires this winter. When I brought my car in, it was literally drowning in water from a clogged sun roof drain. All the electrical warning lights were on and the car was off. I thought it was the end of my car. Reds and son had it fixed in 24 hours at a much cheaper price than if I had brought it to the Mini dealership. It was still expensive but I felt it was fair given the problems. The staff dealt really well with my hysterical reaction and communicated with me regularly. I feel relief that I found a place I can bring my car. I highly recommend Reds and son. read more

I recently took my car here to be inspected and have the emissions test done. Big mistake...I guess I thought it would be better then the run of the mill local gas stations since my car is a foreign car, and it just so happens they specialize is foreign vehicles. Well by the time I left I felt like I had been raped. The bill was a total of $90.95 including tax and that was only to have it inspected and emissions tested. Well in the end all my car failed the inspection and passed emissions. Either way I had to pay the cost and found out if I wanted to fix the stuff wrong myself I would have to pay an extra $35 in order for them to check it all over and give me the inspection sticker. Well I guess that's better then the $700+ they would have charged me to fix everything in order to get the inspection done. Which just so happens won't run me anywhere near $100 for parts. Ah well guess I know better for next time. I recently found out that both pricing tests for the emissions and inspection stickers are state regulated. So i guess the jacked up rate was all for the labor. read more

Having used a two brother garage the years I lived in New Jersey, I was very happy to find another family business that's reputable, fast and honest. These people also changed a couple of my car parts, with old beat up parts without asking for my permission. Have used Reds for about six years to maintain a 1999 Mercedes Benz. Not cheap but high quality work and very responsive. They spent hours on an electrical problem that the dealer could not fix and wanted to replace computer. Finally found a bad solenoid and it cost me $60. read more
