It wasn't in a populated area and was tucked away off the highway, hard to even see/find. Upon walking into the hotel I was pleasantly surprised it was updated. It looked pretty nice... at first. After a short time, we noticed the short cuts they took while renovating. Things like leaving the old doors with the gold hardware, painting walls but leaving the old yellowed light switch covers, rusty air vents in the ceiling, terrible tile jobs. You name it. It just wasn't completed in a detail oriented manner which then looks sloppy and half a$$ed. Our room was ok. The 2 queen beds/pillows were comfortable. Bathroom was ok- clean but just shoddy in spots. Breakfast was held in the main open area. Food was good. They offered cheese omelettes, bacon, biscuits and gravy, assorted cereals, breads, muffins and our beloved Holiday Inn Express Cinnamon rolls. Coffee was fresh, hot and delicious. All staff interactions were friendly and pleasant.

Oh I'll also mention that they charge you a "guest fee" for having 4 people in a room for 4........ Will not be staying at this place again, Hilton really needs to get a hold of the management and fix this place.

Upon arriving at the hotel at midnight, after driving for 14 hours, the guy at the front desk said he couldn't find the reservation. I opened the app on my phone to find that the reservation had been changed at some point in the previous 2 hours. At first they shifted the reservation forward by 1 day - I was checking in on a Thursday, and someone had shifted it to a Wednesday check-in, before canceling the reservation completely. I asked the desk staff why the reservation was cancelled. "It was cancelled." "How was the reservation modified and then cancelled? Because I never received any confirmation that changes were made." "I'll have to look into it." Followed by, "I'll have to put you in a more expensive room, that's all we have available." They never attempted to make it right, and charged the higher rate. 3 days later, when I checked out, they still couldn't tell me how the reservation was cancelled. I found out later on my own that someone who found out about my trip, called pretending to be me, and cancelled it out of spite.

A heads-up if you go on a "Senior Sunday" (ages 50+): the announcer was incredibly loud. Overall, it was nothing spectacular. Out of the three of us, only one friend walked away a winner, and even then, it was pretty minor.

Employees are friendly and hard working. First night our bedroom TV wouldn't work, called front desk woman who was kind and really tried to help. She requested a service call for the morning. I figured no worry, 1st world problem lol. I mean we didn't book a beach stay for TV. I unplugged it for about 10 minutes, after unpacking etc,replugged it in and it worked. Called her and she was funny and said I'm hired and canceled service call. Each morning had YUMMY bacon for breakfast. My kid loved having a waffle every single day. The last morning there, the gal noticed we were looking for it *explained they were almost out, so didn't set it out* ... however she went and got what they had and it was enough for 1 waffle. She , literally, rolled her eyes and continued to the end of her speech at which time I had a room key and a pink square of paper with numbers on it that I had no idea was for. Not a great first impression. Fortunately this was a one off experience and the remainder of our stay was perfect. The resort is beautiful. The pool area was great. Our room was generously sized and very well appointed. (I still recommend all nice hotels stop buying those packets for the coffee maker with powdered creamer and that horrible pink stuff for sweetener. You're better than that.) The staff, no matter who or where we bumped into them, was friendly, engaging, and helpful. Housekeeping, maintenance, lobby, bars, food service. 100% awesome. The food and drinks in the lobby bar were amazing. We ate there several times because we couldn't think of a good reason to go anywhere else and fight the crowds and traffic for lesser food. After being showed our room, we were brought a cold bottle of champagne. The room was a very well decorated, matching the rest of the house. The bed was comfortable and the bath tub was a great way to end the day. I awoke to the smell of breakfast cooking. Being greeted in the morning to our cheerful hosts and one of the best breakfasts I have had in a while was a fine polish to end my stay. I cannot recommend this place enough.
