I'm so lucky to have this library just a few minutes from home. It's become one of my favorite places to pop into, whether I'm looking for a new book, browsing the shelves, or checking out a movie. One thing that really surprised me was their huge DVD collection. They have rows and rows of movies and TV shows you can check out for free. It's a great reminder that you don't need another streaming subscription to find something to watch. The children's section is absolutely adorable. They have plush animals perched on top of the bookshelves that make the perfect little reading buddies for kids. It's such a sweet touch that makes the space feel welcoming and fun for young readers. Every librarian I've interacted with has been incredibly kind and helpful. If you have a question or need help finding something, they're always happy to point you in the right direction. This library is clean, well organized, and a wonderful community resource. If you live nearby and haven't stopped in, I definitely recommend paying it a visit. read more

The library recently added a way to get into the library before their usual opening on Monday thru Thursday at 11 am. If you're in good standing with the library, you can apply to enter between 9 am to 11 am. The back entrance near the parking lot has a new device which scans your library card and requests your password. I'm told that there will not be staff to assist, but it's a convenient new service which will allow us to pick up holds and to use self checkout before they formally open. This is a useful new service! read more

We love the Redondo Beach North Branch Library The staff, including our friend, Ed are always so kind, welcoming and friendly as well as helpful. We have been coming here regularly for the past 7 years since my son was born as a great resource for entertainment and education. They host a lot of events and we have so many great memories of the "parent & child" programs they put together with story-time reading and now the Lego Club. It's a clean and safe, well kept library. read more

Wonderful neighborhood Library; facility always clean, personnel professional, pleasant, and a diverse collection of materials.

Librarians for Saturday shift were not really helpful at the Artesia Boulevard location. Random stranger says good morning at the top of his lungs. Tried to report this to the front desk and they say that I'm raising my voice. They understand my story about that random person, but it's really hard to not speak without raising my voice. read more

One of the best libraries I have been to in the South Bay. Vast, quiet, attentive and professional staff. Separate rooms for special events, restrooms located in the hallway outside. Open until 7 pm. What prevents this from being 5 stars is that the Wi-Fi is horrendous, many of the outlets are not usable due to not being properly fixed into the architecture, and the library is inexplicably closed on Friday. read more

The Library: Very well maintained. There are community rooms for events and meetings. Love Love Love the individual study tables near the big windows. Great lighting, privacy and most important charging outlet for your electronics!! They even post a note about their WiFi login info so you don't have to ask the staffs. The Service: Well staffed. Always someone at the counter for assistance. The Parking: Private parking lot behind the library. Side street parking. Street metered parking front of the library. read more

My baby and I love their story time on Tuesday afternoons. The woman who leads it is so nice and she gave us some great book recommendations for baby development. Each week is a different theme from Springtime to Unicorns. She reads two books, leads some songs, and has a fun craft at the end. Thank you for offering such a lovely children's program! read more

For a bookworm such as myself, there is usually very little I have to criticize when it comes to reviewing libraries, and that sentiment holds true for this library. Having just moved to the North Redondo area a few months ago, I was elated when the library reopened not long after. If you are worried about covid precautions, rest assured that masks are required to enter and there are multiple sanitizing stations throughout. Compared to the Main Redondo Beach library, this location seems to have an older selection of books. Although the books are on the older side and perhaps a little out of date, the library is very well organized and spacious, so you won't have to worry about not finding what you are looking for. My one complaint is that the self-checkout station is really hit or miss, as it can sometimes take forever just to checkout one item. Perhaps repositioning the scanner would remedy this problem. Otherwise, if you are looking to beat the heat this summer AND sharpen your reading skills, come to this library and see for yourself how nice it is! read more

Good clean & quiet place to get some work done (if you don't feel like camping out at a coffee shop). It looks small, but they have plenty of desks scattered around. - Free Wifi & easy to connect (no pw necessary) - 5-6 desktop computers to use (need a library card to reserve) - Parking is a breeze with their own private lot in the back - 2 study rooms (and very sound proof! I sat near one and couldn't hear a thing) - Closed Tues, Fri & Sunday read more

The renovation and remodeling are done and the North Redondo Beach Library is open again! It's beautiful, has a convenient parking lot behind the building and street parking as well. The community room and quiet rooms are lovely as is the main corridor. The interior decor in itself is a bit drab, but the building is beautiful. Just an FYI... If you check out a book here or at the Main Branch you can return it to either location and renew it at either location or online. read more

Yesterday they started the demolition of this poor little library. They plan on it being rebuilt by July 2010 read more

Just curious...Is this a library or a circus full of screaming children and homeless people who talk to themselves? The socially awkward librarians do not help with speaking up to the patrons and controlling the noise level. Bring your 409, the tables are filthy. read more

I am in love with this little library that is almost walking distance from our house. The library is very modern as it has been recently remodeled. There are about 15-20 parking spaces behind the library itself. It is located on the corner of Artesia and Green. Very child/disability friendly with automated doors throughout. The library is a branch of Redondo's main library so it carries less items but you can easily order more from the main one and they will have them delivered for you to pickup at this branch. It is nice to not have to drive all the way to the main library when you live in North Redondo. I mainly come here for my children. They have a separately closed off area with windows and a glass door for the children's section. Lots of books to choose from there. Small kid size tables to sit at and bean bags as well. There are toys to play with too. They also have a good selection of children's DVDs which are great to check out. The automated system for renewing items is wonderful and makes it easy to avoid penalties for returning late items. read more

Take your kids here instead of another day in front of some video games Clean, beautiful and nice. Looks so modern and lovely after the remodel. Has a few enclosed glass tutoring rooms, enclosed glass children's room with games and books so your children can play in. Computer section and many little pods with outlets and wifi for studying. Super open and tons of natural lighting, and great place to study at or just relax and read a book. Family bathroom located inside the library next to the kids room or just walk back into the lobby for water fountains and bathrooms. read more

What a great little library. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I feel like it is a hidden gem since both times I have been there (on Saturdays), it is almost empty. Both reference librarians have been exceedingly nice. I found it easy to reserve books on-line and had them delivered from the main library to here. Parking is ample and easy. One of my hold books was missing. The librarian found it and called me on my cell without me asking her to. That is very thoughtful service in my book... bad pun =)/ Warning: Check the hours before you go. They have strange operating hours and do not open daily. read more

The library is housed in a beautiful building and offers a variety of services in limited quantities. There are stacks, reading tables, computer terminals, a children's reading room and two meeting rooms, all small. This could be a real nugget, a place the neighborhood is proud of. But scheduling and staffing give the impression that it is, instead, the Siberia of the Redond Beach library system. Only one weekly event is geared toward toddlers, and it is scheduled during a toddler's typical naptime. Staff don't smile at all and are not very engaging. Library hours are short. The website ignores the north branch completely and only advertises events at the main branch. You have to call the north branch for any info. Brr, it's cold in Siberia. So sad to see such a lovely, well designed building in such an under-served area get such shabby treatment. This place has a lot of unrealized potential. read more

Excellent environment to get some work done. The only downside is the wifi, which is quite slow. Better to make a card on site as online registration may take two weeks to deliver your library card. read more

While it is nice to have a library in the North Redondo area, I think I the workers there need to be taught what a library is most known for: a QUIET place! It is nice to get check out quickly and have organized stacks (kind of a given if you ask me) but if it's not a place where people can go to read or study then it's a book store. Heck, Barnes and Noble is a quieter place then this place! Every time I have been there there are kids yelling (parents- it's not hard teach you children what is appropriate behavior in a library), people having conversations in the middle of the place, phones ringing and even a guy today walking around FACE TIMING! And the staff? Does nothing to ask these people to conduct themselves in an appropriate way- hell they were sometimes just as loud and obnoxious. If you are a parent this place is a perfect spot to bring your rambunctious toddler if you are a student with any hope of getting studying or work done or someone looking for a quiet reading spot; no hope here! You are better off going to Starbucks up the street. read more

It's hard to hate on free, open-to-all libraries, but some do have that smell about them, and the idea of sitting in one for hours may not be pleasant. But with this North Bran Library, I am fortunate to live so close to it. Although the main library in south Redondo has more books, space, options, it is more enclosed and I don't always find a decent place to study. The places it has to study don't have much natural light. Don't get me wrong, love that one too, but the North Branch: -feels new, was remodeled, is clean, has a nice little parking, close to Starbucks if you want to head over there for a beverage, not crowded with RBHS students, a lot of study desks, clean and accessible bathrooms, friendly staff and nice views of the street while you study. can't complain! One thing--the wifi seems to kick me out, not sure why, but then for long stretches it works fine. read more

I really want to like this library, my local library, but I just can't. The people who I encountered working there weren't friendly, the place is too small to be useful, I wouldn't hang out there to read. I've only borrowed CDs, and DVDs/VHS tapes. I've also gone online and requested books to be transferred to this branch for a convenient pickup, but it takes a while. I'm really looking forward to the remodel, and I'll definitely be donating some money to help out (Cheri provided the link as www.rblf.org ) read more

We have a few readers in our family so our local libraries are part of our weekly life. We have kindles and ipads but we love the actual books. Recently one of the teens in our family needed to write a report on Nelson Mandella. This library had just what we needed when we needed it. Two of us read it. Our community is blessed to have such good libraries. read more

This library is ok. I enjoyed it more before the upgrade. It needs to buy more updated books. People are not donating DVDs like they use to either, the selection is old and boring. There seems to be lack of seating here. The hours are kind of weird as well. I use to like coming here a few years ago but I would recommend the main library on PCH. read more

This library got a makeover and it was worth the funds let me tell ya! Nice community room, nice library with a lot of space, doesn't smell old anymore! Kids room is nice too, there is a big glass wall with a door separating the kids books which is great for us parents who don't like to tell our kid to be quiet every five seconds. Definitely check it out, lovely neighborhood addition! read more

This particular library staff lacks appropriate delivery when being of service to the public. Only certain staff members are willing to assist with basic requests and come off as rude and ridiculous. Cross training would do wonders for both the patron, as well as the reputation of the library. read more

Redondo Beach North Branch Library - Libraries Near Me - Redondo Beach, California

Rarely quiet. Not a good place to study or focus. Horrible at lending out the study rooms. Today they literally had an event with a microphone being used INSIDE the library, people cheering, etc. I don't recommend coming here if you're looking for a quiet place to study. Every time I've come here it's never quiet like a library should be and the staff isn't very helpful at enforcing that either. read more

I grew up going to the Redondo Beach North Branch and back then it wasn't as fancy as it is now. Said nicely, the old library had the "old library" feel and smell to it. The new library is a night and day difference though. The new library is LEED certified and very well designed to let in natural lighting. Honestly, hands down this is one of the cleanest and well lit libraries in the area. There's a good amount of desks (probably 10+ separate desks) to study at and even 2 or 3 tutor rooms for those tutoring/being tutored. For parents, there's a kids area that is closed off so that sound doesn't travel towards to the other parts of the library. The only downside of the library is that the Internet is a little shotty. So if you're planning on studying here and really need the internet, prepare to be disconnected here and there. Food Spots that are a very quick drive from the library that you need to check out: http://www.yelp.com/biz/rice-things-redondo-beach http://www.yelp.com/biz/al-hamra-halal-cafe-redondo-beach * There's also a Starbucks walking distance in case you need a caffeine fix. There's ample parking in a private parking lot in the back also. Let's support the library and keep this one clean and wonderful for the community! read more

Fastest and easiest to log in free pubic WiFi of any library in the South Bay area. Two meeting rooms where you can get online with a fend for some tutoring or collaborative projects. Just don't hang out too long when the place is about to close out the librarians will get passive aggressive about getting you out of there so they can get home on time. Especially on Saturdays. That earned them minus one star. read more

Staff was not friendly nor were they helpful. There was a woman sitting at the front desk, working on something apparently very important. She'd look up at you and if you had a question, would pawn it off to workers in a back room. My daughter asked the other lady at the front desk to help her locate a book. She told my daughter to look for the call number instead of walking her over to the correct area. The library is small, uninviting, and staff is unfriendly. We were only here today to pick up a book that wasn't available at the Main Redondo Library. This is our last visit to this branch. If the main library doesn't have a book, we'll just purchase it from Amazon. read more

I am not relishing the hours of this place but seeing it is built on the pivot of literature, I refuse to give a low rating. It is in accordance with the image of a library. Very quiet and orderly with an array of fascinating books, movies and music. (Keep in mind that this branch is the smaller of the two.) I started visiting last month and I am ever so blessed I did. read more

This is place ia noisy. Not a good for studying or reading. Plus, the employees contribute to the noise.

We made our library cards in less than 5 minutes of arriving. This location is small but well stocked with books, audios, videos, plenty of outlets, desks, and seats. They even have a childrens book reading room!! We are so thankful that we have a great resource so close to home. We will definitely be frequenting this library. The place is so clean and new!! read more

This is a very small library, but considering it's a satellite library to the main branch located off PCH, the size is understandable. As for studying, there are about a dozen tables, however, the noise level is extremely high. Even the librarian do not seem to know the rule about keeping the voice level down. There are other noise makers such as the beeping sound when someone walks out with a book they checked out or buzzing sound radiating occasionally front the check out counter. But if you don't mind the sound, studying here isn't bad. This library doesn't stink, and they keep the temperature nicely cooled. Also, they provide free WIFi. read more

I just moved here and I went to the library to check out some books. I get up to the desk and they won't let me get a library card! They said they needed a picture ID with my current address. Of course I haven't updated these things yet since I just moved. I tried to show them a copy of my most recent renters insurance receipt email on my phone with my updated address, they said, no, it has to be printed. I explained that I do everything paperless and don't even own a printer. I asked if I could use the library printer to print a copy. They said no, you have to have a library card to use the printer! I asked if I could email it to them so THEY could print it out, since they were worthy enough to have a library card (I'm sure). They said no to that too, but gave no reason. What happened to customer service?? What happened to being a human being and cutting people from slack? Is it not enough that I pay taxes in this county to pay their salaries? I've had a library card in one city or another since I was about 8 years old. What do they do if a child needs a library card? THEY certainly do not have picture ID with their current address on it. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. What SNOBS! read more
