Tully's Pub, what can I say about this place?! It's a great place for lunch, they make great soups and sandwiches, sit in the window and watch all the Carlow folk going about their business. I would usually meet my brother's or their current girlfriends here every Saturday afternoon for a drink and it would be a great start to our weekend. The atmosphere is cool hippy/student/don't give a fuck locals/yer aunty Mary and the local priest all slapped into one little space. Van Morrison/The Cure/Lady Gaga/Christy Moore/Bob Marley/Radiohead.. could be playing on the sound system, and it's all grand, it's just...Tully's! My bro's say they pull a great pint here(Guinness, a "pint" is always Guinness unless stated otherwise) and if you come here on Christmas eve you will meet all your old friends who emigrated to US/Japan/OZ/UK/EU....the whole local Irish contingent abroad gather and have a proper knees-up! As we went in at 2.30, the carvery was just finishing, so they told us that it would be 10 minutes before we could order from the main menu, which was the same food as the carvery. One waitress, from the bar,was complaining to another staff member about the wait time as the chefs had said they needed longer to switch kitchens. She looked over at us and we waved at her to come over. She walked straight passed us until we had to call her again. I found this extremely rude. A little bit of communication goes a long way. The next waitress took 10 minutes to come back to us to take our order and advised us again that it would be a few minutes. Bear in mind, we ordered two soups and one chicken dish, not anything over complicated. We waited over 15 minutes for our food, and asked the waitress what the delay was, at this rate we had been sitting down over 30 minutes. She said they were cooking the chicken from Fresh and that was the delay. This was not the case. The chicken arrived with the soup and it was so dried out from sitting under a light that it was uneatable, the potatoes were ok as was the side salad. We complained again, and to be fair, they took the chicken dish off the bill. I felt all we did was complain and wait in the restaurant/bar. I would not stop here again, nor would I recommend it due to both the rudeness of the staff and also the poor food.

Stayed over with my friend for one night in the B & B , A…read moredouble and twin room . Had all we needed , towels wash , shampoo , tv . V clean and comfy . Little noisy downstairs at night but we we're over a bar . And no breakfasts . But found one just down the road . Cheap and cheerful & clean
