First my husband and I call Jim (about a month ago) and ask him to stop by our rental property and give us a QUOTE for the repairs we need. A few days later we get an invoice for work that he completed. He completed 2 of the 4 repairs we needed. He charged more than I would have been willing to pay; if he had given me the estimate/quote as we asked, I would have declined. Now of the 4 repairs needing to be done, he completed two of them, the other two he said this of: 1. the dishwasher wasn't working because it was installed incorrectly and 2. The sink was getting clogged because it's a modern design and that's how it works. So we had a sears kenmore expert come by today, he told us the dishwasher is missing 8 parts! The tentant's actually threw away parts to my dishwasher. Basically they were rough with it and over time a roller and different plastic pieces broke off. Some could have been clipped back in. The problems with the dishwasher had nothing to do with installation as far as the expert could tell. As for the "modern" sink, like every other sink, the water was draining just fine until recently. Now the plunger has to be pulled up to release the water into the pipe. I hardly think anyone in their right mind would design or purchase a sink in which you had to put your hand in dirty sink water to pull up the stopper and drain the water. Not only that, but as for the work completed, one of the repairs is falling apart. I contacted Jim today to let him know. His reply, "there is no warranty." Unreal. So much for trying to do right by your customer and have any sense of work pride and dignity.

I'm not surprised - it's sort the way of the (non) service industry today and especially in this area with its incredible wealth and overpopulated area - there's always more customers so there is not much effort to keep customers or even treat very long term customers with respect. In any case, I'm loyal but when I'm mistreated m, I'll shift my loyalty. I know D&D doesn't care. I unfortunately have a contract for another with them but I'll be calling others as my AC unit is quite and I know it needs to be replaced in next few years and I need a reliable HVAC company. The installation worked fine for just under two years. In Jan 2026 the system failed due to a refrigerant leak-which overheats the compressor so there is no heat or AC. This is not normal for such a new system and was ultimately traced to a damaged fitting (which the mechanic, who is the son of the owner, admitted to causing during original installation). Borchers was slow to respond, clearly prioritized new installs over repairs, and had poor communication throughout. They initially recharged the system as a temporary fix without properly diagnosing it, charged us $228, and the system failed again within hours. After more delays, they finally replaced the faulty fitting but billed us an additional $864, despite the issue being caused by their original work. Customer service was terrible (they acted like they were doing us a favor, when they were fixing their mistakes), there was no accountability or apology, and they hid behind a 30-day warranty for what was clearly an installation defect on a $15,000 system. While the install looked good and worked for two years, the handling of repairs was unprofessional and disappointing. We also received no clarity that this recent fix would work or about a warranty on this fix. When I asked if we might be doing this again in 2 months (ie, was this an actual fix) the mechanic said he didn't know. I wrote the guy a check to get him off my property. I do not recommend this company.
