Red Buses Copenhagen - The Royal Danish Opera House as seen from the water

The ubiquitous double-decker red buses you see in most big cities exist in Copenhagen as well. In…read moreaddition to the city tours, you also get access to a boat ride as well. Don't be fooled by the "24 hop on hop off bus and boat tour" verbiage, as the huge asterisk here is you only get ONE boat ride. So, if you jump off somewhere that looks interesting, you can't ride another boat- unless you pay. The previous complaints I read before writing this review all pointed to lack of communication and bus availability, which I had no problems with. I do think the price of $40 USD for 24 hours is pretty steep, taking into consideration this is Copenhagen, and almost everything is expensive- it seemed pretty normal. The hop on hop off bus tour is the same as it is everywhere else. You basically pick a line (Copenhagen has the red, blue and green lines), depending what looks interesting to you. The most popular (and one we took) line is the red one, the "Mermaid tour", which naturally stops at the Little Mermaid statue (underwhelming, yet required if visiting). There is free Wi-Fi on the bus, as well as free headphones, in which you can listen to commentary (in ten different languages) of the history and sites as you pass them. We didn't have any problems finding or waiting for a bus, and the river boat ride was most definitely the highlight. It was really cool to see the city from that perspective, and how all the locals were enjoying the supposedly super rare sunshine-y weather they had that day (in June). I don't have any complaints about the bus, and I would take it again. Sure, it's touristy AF, but I was a tourist! Nowhere else could I get a quick tour of the city, with a pre-recorded explanation of it.

The bus came to Rosenberg castle 2 minutes before the hour and we just missed it. We ended up…read morewaiting for the next one that took well over 30 minutes. We took the last red bus from Tivoli gardens to the little mermaid. They said it will take an hour to get there and another 30-40 minutes from the mermaid to the cruise terminal, which sounds absurd. I hope we don't miss our all aboard time. Yes, I'm a little stressed right now. The cruise line promotes this company but they shouldn't. Take the official hop on hop off bus by city sightseeing, their buses come quite often.

We absolutely loved this boat tour during our time in Copenhagen. They offer three different tour…read moreoptions depending on how much time you'd like to spend on the water. We chose the two-hour tour, which felt like the perfect balance, not too short and not too long. While it is a bit more expensive than some of the larger boat tours, the experience is much more intimate. With a smaller group, it was easy to ask the captain questions and have meaningful conversations throughout the journey. One of the highlights was a brief stop at a historic military base, where we learned even more about Copenhagen's fascinating history. Along the way, we admired the city's stunning and unique architecture and, of course, made a stop at The Little Mermaid. Our captain, Aske, was one of the best tour guides we've ever had--friendly, entertaining, knowledgeable, and full of great energy. If you're considering a boat tour in Copenhagen, we highly recommend this one. It was an unforgettable experience, and we learned so much about the city. You won't regret it!

The perfect combo of social interactions, enjoying the company and great commentary and guiding. Very comfortable in the boat, we were blessed with a little sunshine so it was perfect. Drinks available to buy if wished and water readily on hand. There was a couple on board who were less interested in the social element but the Texan lady also on the boat was a delight to be with too. Our captain managed the dynamics very well. Easy to book, great comms beforehand and a warm welcome. Highly recommend this great boat ride which gives a wonderful perspective on this lovely city. Great value for money. Had a wonderful time on this walking tour a few weeks ago!…read more It was easy to find the meeting point for the tour, given the bright green umbrellas on the City Hall steps (see attached pic). We hadn't made a reservation since we weren't sure how jet lag would be affecting us, but the greeter was very welcoming and added the four of us to the English-speaking tour (it probably helped that we arrived 10-15 mins early). Weather was very nice and comfortable temps. Our tour guide, Wayne (I believe was his name), was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. He walked us through many key spots around the city, provided lots of interesting points about the local history, architecture, and language, and helped us see things we never would have noticed otherwise! Such a beautiful city, hard to take it all in without some guidance. At the end of the tour, he pointed out a cute little establishment where we could get locally-sourced snacks, drinks, and trinkets, which I really appreciated since so many souvenir shops are just full of items made elsewhere. All in all a fabulous day exploring Copenhagen, highly recommend!

As many people arrived, they grouped people into groups of 18....2 here, 3 there...switching folks around randomly. When we realized the groups were 18 and not 6 we asked why we couldn't be together. Our tour guide Rekka asked Daniel and we were waved to the group with our friends with a bit of disgust. Daniel then came to us and said with admonishment, "you have disrupted the group, I'm very disappointed!" It was rude. We followed for a bit and left altogether. Clearly we were being split because they didn't want us to enjoy it together since we didn't book a private tour. HORRIBLE!!

They're…read moreusually an excellent opportunity to get a look at some interesting and unique parts of a city that you might not spot on your own. I had higher hopes for Copenhagen. First tip, book ahead. They will prioritize customers if you've booked so that they have a proper sized group. Second tip, don't go to the last tour of the day. I did that and unfortunately, it was a massive group of more than 50 for the English tour. This made for a less than ideal environment with too many people, too far from the tour guide and a slow progression through the city. I'm sorry to say that I left the group after the third stop. I still have high hopes for Sandemans and will be looking forward to using them when I get to Porto next month.

The tour started from a main attraction and took about 2h30. Our guide was not Danish but he knew a lot of cool and interesting facts about Copenhagen which made this experience much more interesting. If it's your first time in town and you are traveling solo this is a great way to meet people, discover Denmark's capital and main tourist attractions and, of course do some sightseeing. Don't forget to tip your guide accordingly to the experience you had. Their job is unpaid and they live off the tips they make with the tours. Hope Sandemans get to Brazil and other city capitals around the world soon - why not Stockholm guys? ;)

You can never be sure of the weather in Copenhagen and it was supposed to be sunny but wound up raining and cold. We asked for a refund and they said they don't give refunds even if it's raining. Had we known that we wouldn't have bought tickets in advance which you have to do if you want to get a boat on most days. How can you refuse refunds for boat rides that won't be bought by anyone else because it's raining? The first theft! We were told that they were watching the weather and the rain would stop in about 20 minutes but it never did. It got lighter for a short while and we saw other people with ponchos coming back. We'd spent almost $300 on the trip so rather than lose the money we decided to go out thinking the rain would let up, it didn't. So we asked for 3 of the ponchos we saw other people wearing. They said sure and pulled out three tiny packets of the thinnest cheapest plastic ponchos that didn't go past your butt and THEY CHARGED US $6 FOR EACH ONE!! The second theft! Talk about adding insult to injury these scumbags capitalize further on their non refundable boat rides by charging you more money for what is essentially the thinnest cheapest plastic garbage bags with a hole on the end and a hood that doesn't cover your head. Guarantee you these ponchos cost them about 30 cents a piece yet they charge the ridiculous sum. At the very least if you won't refund my money give me the crappy plastic poncho for free. Absolute scumbag move. On top of all that they hardly give you any instructions except forward, reverse and then tell you that if you hold the rudder slightly wrong the whole thing will pop out of the mechanism which it did multiple times when we were underway. Horribly unsafe. I can't believe this place has decent reviews on here or that it's still open. If you insist on going just please don't book in advance or you'll quite possibly have an experience as bad or worse than ours. And also if you want a better trip don't use a boat with hand rudder. They have other boats with steering wheels which are probably better but I bet if you turn them to far to the right the whole helm collapses! Thanks for ruining one of our 7 days in Copenhagen go boat! Hope you go out of business soon!
