This is a great place to find unique gifts and/or things for your own home. It's a huge store and it has a variety of finds. If you love Christmas ornaments, each year they have some of the best finds that I've never seen anywhere else. Lots of wine themed items here too for all of those wine lovers. What a fun store! It's a great stop to make on a shopping excursion in NuLu. I went here with some family who were in town for my graduation and we all found something different to buy that we loved. I bought a little brass mouse to keep on my desk with a holder in it for pictures or notes. The decorating of the space alone is worth a trip. Red Tree has holes in the floor. If you go upstairs and walk around you will find yourself looking downstairs. Through a hole. In the floor. This, to me, is a huge plus. This place is filled with beautiful, functional, terribly unique furniture that is all faux antique, weathered and beaten up, really gorgeous stuff at super reasonable prices you won't find at your local Pottery Barrel. I have purchased both a bar cart and a china buffet from here, and delivery was fast and efficient and very polite. The guys did not muddy my floors and they loved my chandelier so much they asked if they could photograph it. Granted, I have a very unique gigantic chandelier which my son has nicknamed the LAMPTOPUS so they could have been easily photographing it to put on some website called "Creepy lighting fixtures.com" I am unaware of. The store is a treasure chest of housewares, candles, glassware, mirrors, all sorts of cool things, plus, art, and the art last time I was in featured really lovely oil paintings of peacocks. I think peacocks are the new crows. That sorta reminded me of the Portlandia PUT A BIRD ON IT episode but they were cool and well done. the staff are all very nice and helpful and don't shadow you but are very knowledgeable. Plus, they did say they could custom make me a 12 foot lavender dining table! Unique furniture, interesting housewares, great staff plus the store smells super yummy. And has holes in the floor. One of my favorite items is a chandelier adorned with wine bottles that gives off a perfect ambient lighting. One of the many friendly and all but obsequious employees will help you find anything you are looking for. Red Tree is the perfect place to look for any piece of wooden furniture or that perfect decoration piece that will tie the room together. Let me see if I can tickle a few neurons here. It's been a little bit since I was at Red Tree but I have some time to write and now's a good time to reminisce. First off, I love little antique shops, consignment stores and such. Like walking back in time, which seems to be a favorite pastime of mine, divining the provenance of something by putting your hands on it, drinking in its history. Red Tree is full of little odd knick knacks and unique antiques, and the creaky old floor, torn wallpaper, cracking plaster serves to enhance the environment. And the atmosphere, this old building on a corner of Market Street in NuLu, well, there's nothing better really. The door which leads to the land of Faerie courtyard, raindrops glistening off creeping vines and old doors with weathered wood and odd etchings, I could spend a day simply exploring every nook and cranny. The owner probably would not appreciate my sneakiness, but it's simply too enticing to explore. Hee hee, ticklish neurons. read more

I have never found a more interesting and unique store in Louisville. Fundamentally it is a furniture store with so many amazing pieces in so many different colors. And they are so reasonably priced. I could spend hours in the store just browsing through the items. And they have such a amusing selection of greeting cards that left me cracking up. I have personally bought many pieces of furnitures from them. The staff working there are so warm and helpful, very casual setting more like a friend. And they will definitely work with you to make you a happy customer :-). They host a wonderful trolley hop party every first Friday of the month. Don't want to miss that, remember to put that down on your calendars.. I would so recommend this store to any out of towners to be a "must check out" place during their visit. read more

Nice selection of furniture and interior decor. Unlike other stores this store does a good job of not overcrowding there retail space. Walkways may be a little narrow but the items are not stacked over each other in a way that's makes it difficult to know what your looking at. The artwork is nicely displayed and embedded within the furniture layout and items are displayed well. The prices are reasonable and the staff was very nice. read more

Felt like a kid in the candy store!!!!! Beautiful art and furniture displayed with taste and tact. Walking through the two story enclosing we shifted from room to room to discover new and exciting pieces. It is like walking through a museum and being able to touch and experience the pieces. A beautiful store that you could get lost in for an hour. Lots of unique pieces and so much to look at. Wow nulu has a hidden jem in Red Tree. This place is awesome, lots of great nic nacs tons of furniture and wine bottle chandeliers. First Friday trolly hop at red tree is great ....they serve wine!!! The prices are average for the area. I shopped around and found lots of beautiful hand crafted pieces. My kitchen island now steals the show when I have guests over. My dining room table is beautiful especially because I customized it myself. Red tree also let me keep a loaner while my table was being crafted half way around the world. The staff was very knowledgable and honest. " yes you can buy these online but in house we can work with the price." I enjoyed the no pressure environment, I was free to browse without a sales person hounding me. Great for windows shopping I love this store and will come back any time I need a gift for anyone I know. read more

I myself have purchased their hand blown glass and Gamal root vases that they refer to as "Randys". It is one of my favorite possessions! Red Tree is such a fun store! It can be a bit overwhelming. There are a thousand things to look at and it all commands your attention. The store also sells a variety of candles and potpourri, so a hundred different scents are also vying for your attention. But its so neat! You'll find something at Red Tree you can't live without; its one of those stores! This is a great place to go to find a gift, a unique Christmas ornament, or a nice treat for yourself. I fell in love with the globe mobiles that hang in various spots of the store. There are also small holes in the floor upstairs when you can actually peer down to the first floor. The staircase to the upstairs is winding and creaky and perfect. This is probably just me, but I think this is the type of store you'd find in Harry Potter's Diagon Alley :) You should really check out Red Tree! read more

Red Tree is a nice little store downtown. My man friend and I came in here after brunch at Harvest and it was worth checking out. We were greeted by a nice gentleman and told about the deals going on and how the furniture selection works. It's a lot of knick knacks and furniture and at this time I don't need any, but it's worth a peak if in the area. read more

I like this fun little oddities shop, the floors filled with trinkets and nick knacks of various wonderment, makes me wonder around her for hours. A lot of Red Tree is not really my taste and can be a bit kitschy, but they had some furniture pieces and mirrors that were really unique, as well as some nice paintings in the stairwell. It'd be an easy place to get lost in, and I almost ran into things hanging from the ceiling a few times when I turned too quickly (like a UPS merman ornament?). Definitely a good place to go for gifts, and there were some recycled glass vases and bud vases scattered throughout that I'd consider buying. Or one of those cool wineglass chandeliers. There was a lot of great stuff in this store packed to the rafters. Mainly I found a lot of vintage furniture that I would love for my apartment. While it was more expensive, it was for more substantial pieces of furniture so it makes sense. The only complain I have for this store is mostly for something aesthetic. They had a lot of Christmas ornaments and things hanging from the ceiling and as a taller person, I was worried about bumping into them so I just had to be much more aware of where I was walking, not that big of deal. read more

Overpriced yuppie decor and gift items that are carefully designed to look handmade, weathered or kitschy. While I'm not a huge fan of that kind of thing, I know people who are, and would definitely find them a perfect gift from Red Tree.
