For some reason, I have never noticed or been in this store before. I guess I always thought the action was at Red Tree, Mahonia, and Six Sisters. I'm glad I finally came! A friend was down here with me from out of town and she wanted to go in so we did! Wow! This place is huge! They've got stuff you can give as gifts to people. Holy moly...this store is so cool!!! I was lucky to finally get a chance to check out Scout during Nulu Fest, and it is such a treat to get to browse through all of their goodies. I have to admit, I am not really sure what this store is *supposed* to be. Is it home decor? Gift shop? Art gallery? Well, it's kind of a little bit of everything, which is awesome. I would probably come here primarily to get some cool gifts for family/friends. They have some hilarious knick knacks, but also some pretty interesting art/decor items as well. What a gem! I can't believe I missed this place the first few times I came through Nulu. This place is so well curated, I wanted to bring a little bit of everything home with me. If you're looking for presents for that hard-to-shop-for person, Scout is absolutely worth the visit. The prices range from affordable to out-of-this-world, so regardless of your budget, you're likely to find something good. Came here during the Nulu Jingle Fest and it was packed. Scout is one of those gems tucked into NuLu -- so many fun items to look at and some that are actually affordable enough to bring home. Let's go from the front of the store to the back, shall we? Scout's front windows typically warrant a moment or two of observation. From perfectly styled room scenes to more avant-garde designs -- such as the current one that has book pages covering the wall -- I often wish I could take all of the furniture in these small spaces home with me. And then to the main store area. Scout sells what looks like quality-made furniture. I say "quality-made" because I can't afford any of it, so I can't speak from experience. But a girl can dream! Scout also has jewelry, which ranges in prices. I have left with some of these in bags under my arms. It also has scarves, purses, clutches and other home decor items. And then the back room. This is where you can find a deal. Scout puts a lot of its for-sale items in this room, along with some kitschy fun finds, like cardboard animal heads and ironic salt and pepper shakers. The store also carries humorous cards for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I dream about the front room and window displays; I chuckle and buy from the back room. In both rooms, I'm happy. read more

Wow, what a collection of unique, fun, light-hearted, and functional items! This store is a mash-up of art gallery and gift shop located in the NuLu neighborhood. I loved everything about the beautiful space and eclectic offerings. It is seldom that my husband enjoys strolling through a shop, but this one drew him in hook, line and sinker; he even purchased some very sexy-smelling men's soap! My favorite items were the unique kitchen items and the unusual, light-hearted books! I'm sure I'll be returning, especially when searching for Christmas and other gift items! read more

I wish I lived in this store. Or at least could buy everything in it. It's an awesome mix of a quirky gag gift store and elegant design store. Prices were very reasonable (5 bucks for any poster!), staff were very friendly, and it was a place where you could hang out and peruse without feeling pressured to buy something every moment. My favorite boutique in Louisville, hands down, is Scout. They always have high -quality items and always have a pulse on the trends. My favorite handbag and clutch are from this place (which I also spotted in a Chicago boutique on Michigan Ave). The jewelry is gorgeous with a lot of Walter Randolph pieces. The earrings are some of my favorites and I have a nice variety of those. They have nice kitchen items, household accessories and throw pillows. The Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams furniture is also incredible. If that's not enough, they have fun books and funny greeting cards you can get for your friends. This place is great. I always find myself wanting to venture here for a cute gift for friends and family because of the variety they have. You can really ascertain the taste that the owners have by just looking at the different gifts/novelties that are sold here. It's obviously got class but someone definitely has a good sense of humor at the same time. The quirky, often times naughty, cards are a go to for me. There is anything from journals and books to kitchenware and household items. The furniture and household items, though, are gorgeous and modern. They have accessories, jewelry, lighthearted books, cheeky greeting cards, small and large decor, a children's gift section, and furniture. I also have treated myself many times at Scout, ha! A couple handbags, a clutch, earrings, serving pieces...Scout is just a beautiful store to explore. The owner and staff are friendly and conversational without ever being pushy. Scout offers complimentary gift wrap on all their items and they always wrap thing beautifully in their signature colors, a soft blue and red. I have never failed to come into Scout looking for a nice gift for someone else and not leave with something nice for me. I'm not sorry. I'm fancy and I like fancy stuff. If you have a hard-to-shop-for person in your life you'll find something for them here. It's a wee bit pricy but she gave birth to you so I don't know why you're being stingy. They had socks and links I liked so you should definitely remember my birthday and find yourself at Sout. They also have a great selection of coloring books and cards. It is an oversight on my part that I have not reviewed Scout. I visit the store regularly since it is a few blocks from home in my NuLu neighborhood. The quality and selection at Scout is truly exceptional. The store changes almost weekly with very creative and beautiful window displays that beckon you to come inside. The staff is very friendly and seem to genuinely enjoy their work. You will find an impressive selection of very fine jewelry. I love their selection of earrings. My husband and I visited Louisville a few weeks ago. We found Scout and decided to go in because my husband wanted to buy me a gift from each of the states we were visiting. The second we walked in, we fell in love with this shop. I've never been to a shop where I loved every single thing I saw. All the cute dishes, jewelry, the wall art... everything was perfect! My husband bought me a little bunny ring dish and a gift for my dad which the gentlemen who were behind the counter very kindly offered to gift wrap. The coffee stain greeting cards, the lovely men who own the store, the home decor items, the jewelery and accessories? I literally love it all! You can find the most unique gifts here, but with a great sense of style and class. The greeting cards in the back room can keep you entertained for hours, literally hours. And they are funny every time you read them. The jewelery is gorgeous, the handbags are top notch and the other accessories are adorable. The furniture is so well made and beautiful. While I have never bought a piece of furniture there, I know they do free delivery and even bring polish to make sure your furniture is looking the best that it can be. The owners will even come and hang a picture you bought in their store just so it looks exactly right. Talk about customer service! I've been given presents from here and every time it is just perfect. Unique. A touch funky. And downright lovely. And of course sometimes that smile is partially for whatever I just had to get for myself. That part is dangerous. A very nice, upscale boutique / showroom for Scout on Market, The furnishings are well selected and range in the $350-$2500 area. Lamps, chairs, and a nice selection of quirky smaller items. I love what they've done with the outdoor storage area (converted rail storage cars are used to create a storage fortress for the business). While out and about doing my shop local Saturday, I decided to SCOUT out (har har har, see what I did there...yeah) this shop. While some items were out of my price range, the things they had were very nice. I like the more decorative and kitschy stuff than the purses and clothing stuff.
