I would never choose to stay in this campground again. You are shoehorned in here in the most unbelievable way. We literally could not open our awning. The neighbors sewer drain was beside our picnic table. It was gross and very unpleasant. My sister and nephew came to visit and there was no space to sit outside our camper so we had to find a restaurant in town. We love Medora and will come back. After researching, the Medora Campground looks like a much more desirable location to camp.

Stayed here in a back in spot in summer 2011 in a camping trailer. Yes, this is in Medora, and you really need to come here. Medora is a great little town, really the highlight of our vacation, surprisingly. It is a beautiful place on the North Dakota prairie with plenty of things to do. Not too big, not too small. Anyway, for RV parks, it was either here or the Medora Campground and I am glad we chose to stay here. Now the park is a little run down, but they make up for it other ways. The family that runs it has been there for a long time, and they really try hard to make you feel welcome. They have shuttle service to the Medora Musical and Pitchfork Fondue. The wi-fi works great, with speeds at a consistent 1mb. They have one of the best stocked convenience stores I have seen. I got a personal escort to our site from the owners son, along with back in assistance. Oh, and there is live entertainment, nightly. Yes, during the summer for 100 days, 7 nights a week from 5:45-9:45pm they have the Vern and Rita Davis show. It's an 80 year old man and his young bride taking requests playing champagne country in the RV park. They have matching outfits and everything. Really, this was THE highlight of our vacation. Sure, Vern can forget the words or sing off key now and then, but this is the beauty of it all. Here is a nice old couple, singing their hearts out for whoever wants to listen. It was so pure and honest. Two people trying their best to entertain whoever stops to listen. It was excellent, and I REALLY enjoyed them. I wish we had scheduled more time in Medora. But, I got to listen to Vern sing two nights in a row. I will always remember this. If planning to stay here,be sure to check in advance that this duo is still performing. Vern's getting up there in years and someday he will not be able to make the trek from his home to Medora. They have been performing here every summer for 28 years. I hope they are here many more summers.

Nice site, cute town, most of it was closed down as it was late in the season. Close to Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

We only saw the North Unit on our visit so we will definitely have to visit more at a later date. While visiting I felt so at peace and love that it's not overcrowded like other National Parks and that you really feel surrounded by nature and wildlife. We enjoyed driving along the scenic path and soaking in the stunning views! We saw cannonball concretions, stunning views from the overlooks along the way, and saw lots of bison. There are lots of hiking trails to explore and we saw deer. We look forward to coming back and hopefully seeing wild horses and prairie dogs. The park is large with so much to see and do. An absolutely gorgeous place to visit that is so underrated! Highly recommend visiting this place!

It's the kind of place where you can pull over at almost any turnout and find something worth photographing. Wildlife was everywhere, bison wandering right along the road, prairie dogs popping in and out of their little towns, and even a few wild horses in the distance. What I appreciated most was how quiet and calm everything felt. Even with other visitors around, there's a sense of space that makes you feel like you have whole sections of the park to yourself. If you're anywhere near North Dakota, this place is absolutely worth the stop. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

There are kind of three sections: First section is an open area for RV with utilities, next is an area for camping with horses and stalls, and the last area (where we stayed) is a forest area with much vegetation and no utilities. The forest area is close to a very small and summer mosquito creek. All have a picnic table and fire pit. Where we stayed with our 25' RV was very tight and the entry says no higher than 10' which we are 12'. We brushed trees and shrubs, and we were not the only ones to manage to squeeze in. Not for large RV's in the forest area. Booking can be done online and on-site, but it was full during our September visit. Someone even tried to take our site with the reserved sign noting it was taken. No issues and they moved on. There is a shower house, bathrooms, dump station, water and trash. Good place to stay and hike especially while the National Park was closed to camping. It is down a 1/2 mile gravel road and a state ranger station and camp host are on site.

Here at Sully Creek State Park you can see an active stream of water eroding part of the Badlands. The Little Missouri River erodes each part of its surroundings including the stones. Which gave my husband, Peter, and Esther a great experience skipping rocks on the water. This river gives the animals around a source of water. We have seen deer and a fox while simply driving into this park. This is definitely a great place to touch, view, and experience the river that has been shaping this landscape for thousands of years.

This little gem of a park was listed on our ND 12 months/12 hikes list & we decided it was the perfect time to give it a try. It's located just outside of Roosevelt National Park & the terrain is very similar. We hiked out through badlands and grasslands vegetation. At times, the overgrowth was chest deep & there are several thorny plants covering the trails, as well as cacti. My legs were pretty well shredded. Be sure to load a map prior to heading out, as there is very limited cell service & we hit quite a few spots where the trail split with no signs / areas where there was no visible trail split, but you needed to walk a few feet over from the trail you were on to get on the trail you need to be on - very frustrating to have to double back to find it, when not actively tracking progress. Mosquitoes are almost as thick as the grasshoppers and there's a lot of open area- bring bug repellent if they find you tasty & sun protection, along with plenty of water. Watch for washouts/ trail closure signs. You'll likely see deer & cows, possibly snakes. The views are magnificent at times, especially at the start/finish. Fabulous sunset on the way out too! Before we left, we filled our bottles with nice, cold water from the fill station.

After a long drive from Yellowstone, this was a great place to stop and rest up. Facilities were super clean, sites were spacious and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Showers were especially clean (possibly cleaner than my home shower ) and are free to registered campers! Be sure to catch Ranger Shawn while you're around. He had some great insight on good trails and went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay and a good time while at the park.
