We planned a road trip just to visit the north and south entrances of this park. It did not disappoint. It is a natural spectacle of beauty, nature and buffalo! It's like the Badlands and Yellowstone had a baby. Things I didn't see in many of the national parks that we have visited -the cap stones, mushrooms, and cannon balls. So many beautiful Buffalo up close and personal. We were also lucky enough to see the wild horses along with many prairie dogs and a solo coyote having an afternoon rest under a Cottonwood tree. The two entrances are about 60 miles apart (and do not connect to one another), but worth the drive. Make the trip!

Even though we went through the bottom portion, we were able to see some horses and look out at the beautiful views. We were able to get junior ranger books and badges. I even got to get a magnet from the little shop at the painted canyon visitor center. It was much hotter than we thought it would be, so we were not able to do any hikes during our visit in July. But even just driving through the land was beautiful.

Reported to not no nice in the office, no help. Spaces were EXTREMELY tight on the side of the park with trees, no way to even pull out without having others move vehicles. Trailers mixed in with tents... Other side of the park is much more spacious , 30 and 50 amp sites. Only downside appeared to be NO trees, HOT! And since this is about the only game in town "decent " sites booked up fast.

As I said we needed help with our coach and they handed us a business card for the mobil mechanic that is here to help everyone like us that stop in Dickenson for r&r (rest & repairs). We have a 20ft travel trailer and appreciate the pull through sites so we can stay "hooked up". We can easily walk on a quiet local street to Walmart. The site has maintained grass and a sturdy picnic table. The secured bathhouse and laundry suites are very clean and well maintained. The internet performs well and is included in the nightly rate which is reasonable. We have observed that the tent sites are great- level, grassy and partially shaded. For tenters there are nearby places to take safe shelter for severe weather alerts. We really appreciate the owner's commitment to maintain and upgrade the facilities. The new roadway surfaces are great! The staff have always been extremely helpful and pleasant. Keep up the great work North Park, we appreciate you!!

Great camping spot at a well maintained property not far from Theodore Roosevelt NP. They are on…read morethe little Missouri and they have a trail head to the Maah Daah Hey trail. There are kind of three sections: First section is an open area for RV with utilities, next is an area for camping with horses and stalls, and the last area (where we stayed) is a forest area with much vegetation and no utilities. The forest area is close to a very small and summer mosquito creek. All have a picnic table and fire pit. Where we stayed with our 25' RV was very tight and the entry says no higher than 10' which we are 12'. We brushed trees and shrubs, and we were not the only ones to manage to squeeze in. Not for large RV's in the forest area. Booking can be done online and on-site, but it was full during our September visit. Someone even tried to take our site with the reserved sign noting it was taken. No issues and they moved on. There is a shower house, bathrooms, dump station, water and trash. Good place to stay and hike especially while the National Park was closed to camping. It is down a 1/2 mile gravel road and a state ranger station and camp host are on site.

Badlands is a beautiful park but everything that makes it unique returns to a single substance,…read morewater. Here at Sully Creek State Park you can see an active stream of water eroding part of the Badlands. The Little Missouri River erodes each part of its surroundings including the stones. Which gave my husband, Peter, and Esther a great experience skipping rocks on the water. This river gives the animals around a source of water. We have seen deer and a fox while simply driving into this park. This is definitely a great place to touch, view, and experience the river that has been shaping this landscape for thousands of years.

If you want to ride a bike or walk to the attractions knowing that it is a jammed pack campground, you'll be happy. All services are adequate and not fancy. The people running the campground are strict, but they have their reasons, they have been doing this a very long time and know their system. If you are looking for quiet, spacious and nature, choose another location. You're paying for the proximity to attractions. We had a nice dinner at Theodore's Diner and walked everywhere. It is a clean town in a beautiful surrounding.

Sitting on the cabin porch drinking coffee early in the morning was the best. We also Enjoyed a few meals at Boots Bar and grill! Really enjoyed our time in Medora!
