A good concept, but disgustingly over salted.
Due to me having the flu, we needed to find a relatively healthy takeaway.
I've never had Red Rooster before, but it's a good concept - a "healthy" option for instant food. Sadly, it's poorly executed.
The roast chicken was pretty good, like any Supermarket chook - it was stuffed with what I assume is glutinous stuffing, so I avoided that but I know it was that sticky, grey stuffing that is mysterious delicious.
The chips were inedible from the volume of salt that was on them. They were disgusting. My child was so excited to be getting chips but I'm concerned with they amount of salt. I eat way too much salt, sometimes I literally eat a pinch of salt, so for them to be too salty for me is really bad.
The potato and gravy was horrible, fake and so salty. The separate gravy was incredibly salty too.
The corn cobs had a bad texture, like they'd been frozen and overcooked. They kernels had exploded. Surely they handle enough corn that they don't need frozen corn?cPeas were fine. Frozen peas are the same anywhere.
Overall, I'm disappointed, because I've always seen Red Rooster pitched as a healthy alternative and the quality was just quite poor. The main issue was the disgusting amount of salt that made me worried for my child to eat it. I couldn't eat it either, so a bit of a waste of $33.
