We arrived with a serious electrical problem, and Nathan - the owner/manager - promptly helped us by re-wiring temporarily, so we could have air-conditioning and electricity for our two days stay. He then called Albuquerque, New Mexico - which will be passing through after we left this location - and ordered us the electrical component to fix our RV. Because we would be arriving there on a Saturday, he also made arrangements with a mobile RV tech to install that part! Everything you want is at this location; from a wonderful restaurant, to laundry facilities, to conveniently located for the recreation facilities nearby, and a wonderful store. Nathan would not take a penny from us, for helping us!!! I cannot tell you how my wife and I, and dog, appreciated all he did for us, to make our stay just fabulously wonderful!!!! If you could give six stars to this nice place and the wonderful owners, they deserve it!!!

He had me follow him to our site and then continued to help us get situated. I found this to be pretty much the standard as Nate was always helping someone in the campground. We fell in love with Golden Eagle the year before when we met Bruce and Bridgette (Nate's parents) who told us they would be passing the campground on to Nate and Lisa. Sometimes you worry when you get that kind of news. But we found that nothing has changed in the warm and professional atmosphere, and the changes that Nate HAS made to the facilities are awesome. It's a fun and unique place to visit. Always something to do with local vendors showing up on one day with their homemade wares of jewelry, fresh bread, jams and beef jerky and then some really great musicians and singers on another evening. (Take some time to look at their events page.) And don't miss the evening movies. Just prepare to enjoy the fun. One of the nice surprises for me was their Grill where you could enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch and/or dinner. I started with breakfast and the sausage was the best I had ever eaten - and I'm a Cajun boy. I had a great cheeseburger for lunch and my wife had, she said, one of the best chicken salad sandwiches she had ever had - but were not able to stay for the beef brisket special for that week. Hopefully it will be back when we return. (I believe you can see a copy of their menu on their website, but the specials change weekly.) In any event, we had a great time and will be returning in a few weeks for the balloon launch. I can't really add anything to some of the other nice reviews that give you more detail about the facilities, but Nate and Lisa were great and always accommodating - just good people and a joy to be around. We look forward to seeing them again. Do yourself a favor and spend some time at Golden Eagle RV Campground in Eagle Nest, New Mexico.

This is quite park, close enough to town without the noise. Staff were very friendly with easy sign in. We had no problem rules & regulations being texted to us, saves paper. We got a text reminder of check out time. Which made us laugh because we had left at 6AM. Showers/bathrooms were clean, hot water, & plenty of it. Early May is a great time to visit here, because it wasn't crowed at all. Complete park is gravel, mostly level, with easy turning.

When we pulled in our Nextdoor neighbor was 4 feet into our area and the guy across the street had his utility trailer sticking out in the road (the guy at check in said this was acceptable) although both neighbors had room in their spots to park elsewhere.No one was around to move their stuff so we could easily pull into our spot. We almost made it in but caught the utility trailer with our backend. We had no room for chairs or firepit. Management did nothing to help us find a better spot even though several people had not checked in yet. They need to figure out a better system. We saw small units in large spots and lg units in small spots. Had plans to have friends over for dinner Sunday night but no room for tables and to pull out our grill. Very disappointing.

Nice clean accommodations, kitchen, basic cooking & utensils, comfortable beds, and everything from 2 bdrm cabins to 5 bdrm house for rent. Fire rings, gas BBQ's and a playground for the kids outdoors. It was during the week after Labor Day so our host Jeremy was there to take care of things, and gave us some tips about the area & what to see & do. During summer season & on weekends there's a pizza restaurant open on site. Nearby is Bosque Del Oro wildlife preserve, one of the largest Elk herds in the US, Monument lake, North lake, Bear & Blue lakes, and others; trails, streams, 14'er peaks and pretty much anything you want to do outdoors. And the view! - wish I could post my pictures here! My idea of a slice of heaven!

Cabins has two upper beds that the kids loved being up there. Two bunk beds downstairs, one master room, one couch that pulls into a bed for more bed space, one bathroom, one kitchen area with a cooking top. It's enough for a whole family with a crew of kids. Had such great views and an awesome community center. With Landry rooms, a hot tub that is huge, a fire pit that's make the experience magical. A computer that has WiFi. A comfortable dealing room. Bathrooms available. Family of 7 and it was such a great experience. Kids had first ski experience and ski school this was super closer to the slopes you can see the slopes in the day '& night when the slopes are light up for ski nights. Grocery stores and ski rentals all near the resort and the slopes.

However they are doing road construction so it was very narrow & difficult to navigate if you have a big rig like us!

It's not a super fancy RV park by any means but each site does offer full hookups and the site manager was very friendly and helpful. The park is pet friendly, however, there are no poop stations on site. No fear though, the dumpsters are just a short walk away on site. The WiFi was pretty nonexistent at our site. Maybe other locations on site had better luck but we got some internet the first night but after that the signal just kind of faded away/stopped working. Well, what better way to enjoy the snow and nature than to disconnect. I love that this location is away from the sights and sounds of the city. You really feel like you're out there enjoying nature. The drive to Red River isn't too bad of a hike from this park but going to Angel Fire will take about an hour.

The back in spots along the river offer a fire pit, a charcoal grill, and shade. They are quiet except for the sound of the river running through, and while close to each other, are situated so your rig is between you and your neighbor for privacy. The gentleman who runs the place, Paulie, is fantastic and wants to make sure all his guests are comfortable and happy. The bathhouse is probably one of the absolute cleanest and nicest I've seen for an RV park. Laundry is $2 a load to wash and $2 to dry. I enjoyed my stay here much better than the place I stayed in Taos and honestly would rather stay here and drive down to Taos than go back there.

There were only about three or four of us in the park the whole time which was very quiet. Everyone was nice. My only complaint was the bathroom trailers are loud from the fan, so if you're looking for more quiet, I would request a site furthest away from them as we were right above them.
