It's a crap shoot to shop here for many reasons. If you're into electronics, you might find some real bargains, but you will also find stuff that they say they checked, but turns out to be a lie. Most of the electronics I have purchased from them, especially old-school vintage stuff, has not worked or would half-work. They have a testing station and I highly recommend you test these types of items. As for media, Blu-Rays are over-priced, although I have found some interesting titles in there that I have not seen anywhere else, for instance promotial releases that were never made available to the general public, like films that were produced by Netflix or Amazon. Those ARE worth the asking price for sure. AS for cd's, I have had better experiences, but prices are in the $2-4 range, which is, depending on what you find, expensive. If you look at it another way, you'll do worse on e-bay, but I like those places that sell media in the $1-3 range for cd's, dvd's, blu-rays, etc. Bottom line: Red Racks is certainly an interesting place, but can be a frustrating experience as well. read more

I am a reseller and have visited red racks for the past two years almost weekly. I have seen their prices climb higher and higher over the past two years to an extent that finding a good deal on used items is nearly impossible. I used to leave with a bag or two of good deals. I used to live going in Red Racks on Vivion and Antioch rd.. its terrible now, prices are more expensive than buying new. And the vintage items you can find on Mercati or ebay are half the price of what this place charges. Its so full of items but is not selling them because of the prices. I will never shop there again. You're better off buying clearance at Kohls! Prices are unethically high. But, as long as people keep buying, Red Racks will keep raising prices. The worst part is other thrift stores jack their prices up to be just slightly cheaper than Red Racks. Salvation Army, Thrift Haven and MCCB are all outrageous in their pricing. Everytime I go in this store prices are CRAZY high well over retail. This jacket was bought from the store for $29 and than y'all price it for $39 which is $10 higher than retail. That's wrong! bought some items here but unable to try them on because of covid but was told I had 7 days to return them if they don't fit etc. I called ahead and was told that I could bring the items in to return for store credit even though I didn't have the receipt but they could look up my purchase using my debit card info. fast forward to when I drove across town to this location since that's where the purchase was made and was told I absolutely could not return the items without a receipt. walked out of the store and called another location and was told they would look up my purchase for me when I arrive. Prices are wrote down like somebody fill up lottery tickets... many items same or higher price then new one in original shop. Beyond crazy...and all discounts and points are actually pointless when they setup prices that high. Why do I even have to give one star? Red Racks prices are so ridiculous. You can buy new items for the same but usually even for less. i haven't gone in a while, however when I did, I found a couple of items, but then i was floored by the price and rarely bought anything.These items are all DONATED! Granted they have overhead, but they are ripping off anyone who shops there. I worked here for 2 weeks. They specifically told me at one point to start throwing away donations, regardless of what it was, as soon as the person drove away. They throw things away no matter what condition, if they already have a few of the item out on the floor. yes, instead of marking down prices to sell faster, they throw away similar items donated. I personally threw away giant trash bags of brand new stuffed animals and children's toys, bags of kids books, a dyson vacuum, and furniture. Everyone could have christmas gifts if they simply gave away the things they throw away. The manager is a hateful, extremely rude woman, she treats the employees terribly, and is rude to costumers. Those nice things you donate, guess who sets those aside, prices them, then buys them? The terrible people running the place. maybe other redracks are better, DO NOT DONATE TO THIS ONE. I would also like to note: Those donation boxes outside have dirty underwear and socks dumped into them, and those clothes you buy from red racks, arent washed, and have a good chance that they were mixed with some dirty underwear/socks. read more

I have shopped at Red Racks for years . I am finding the prices are rising. They have a 75 cent sale on Sundays on a certain color each week. I went today within 20 minutes of the store opening. Not an orange tag anywhere to be found on kids clothes. Makes me feel like they are pulling the clothes off the rack on purpose. I overheard someone else also mentioning this. read more

I used to love shopping at this location, but the pricing on clothing, decor, and housewares has gone through the roof. During my latest visit on May 22, I made a decision shortly thereafter not to go back unless there is a significant sale. I could not find a single piece of clothing under $10 and most were very worn. Shoes were also marked way too high. I would recommend Goodwill in Ozark, MO or Goodwill over on Kansas Expressway instead. Much better pricing. read more

Terribly overpriced, a pair of dirty old worn out Walmart shoes were five dollars they're $7.98 new at Walmart. Are you kidding me? I have an eternal love/hate relationship with Red Racks. First of all, I'll say that I personally think the one on Glenstone is better, even though it's smaller. Why? It's closer to the universities, so it takes in more brands like J. Crew and Mossimo and American Eagle per college kids who don't keep stuff that's perfectly fine to still wear. Also, there's still some kind of weird price disparity between the two, and I've found that Glenstone is cheaper. I go to Red Racks once or twice a month and typically walk out with a bag full of clothes, shoes, mugs, and miscellaneous goodies, all for $20 or less. If you do Red Racks right, you can live by it, and MOST of my closet is, in fact, from Red Racks. Just because it's a thrift store doesn't mean cool stuff isn't there - you just have to be patient and sift through every. Single. Rack. to find what you want. Not your cup of tea? Head to the mall - then there's more for me. The big, big downfall of Red Racks is how stupidly misleading their holiday 50% off sales are. They DO mark up the prices big time the day before the sale. I've actually ended up paying higher prices on these days because a shirt that I'd normally buy for $3 got marked up to, say, $8 - at 50%, I'm still paying a buck more. Boo! You're not fooling us pro thrifters, Red Racks. That all being said, head to Red Racks on a normal Sunday and do your discounted shopping then. If you really try and don't lose faith after like, 5 seconds, you'll find something special. read more

Ding ding, round two! After having visited the Redrex on S. Kansas Expressway earlier today, my girlfriend and I have decided to visit this one to find more deals. I was disappointed in the selection of pants for men at the S. Kansas Expressway store, so when I walked into this Red racks I was surprised to see a much larger selection of men's pants. However, when I looked at the prices I was quickly dismayed. I found some pairs of pants that were in less than favorable condition, having holes and stitching that was coming undone for $27-$30. it seems as though somebody was barely glancing at the clothing and arbitrarily placing prices on their tags. Another disappointment is the Sunday sale features $.25 clothes if they have a white tag on them this week (different colored tag each week). Unfortunately the two stores that we visited today have very few white tags throughout the whole store. The good thing about this store is the smaller size prevents my girlfriend from spending two hours looking through clothes. Yay! Side note: make sure to securely latch the dressing room door when using it. read more

This is the third chance I've taken here. Every time I've been disappointed, but this time around it was bad enough to leave a review. Highly priced items, stained clothing, everything is always picked through (need more donations, not as many sales), and the dressing room doesn't even have hangers. There was a "sale" today but after a few women looked into it, you end up spending more than the discounted price on the tag. The employees argued and were rude to the woman. Not professional. My sister-in-law and I used to LOVE to shop at Red Racks. We would make it a first stop when we were out (for almost any reason). The last couple of times we have been, we were so disappointed. The prices were way to high. Some items marked the same price or higher than the original sticker on them. The best Red Racks store is definitely the huge one on Kansas Expressway. That said, this one isn't horrible. Sunday sales are good. They have a decent selection of clothing, although much of it (particularly women's clothing) is overpriced for a thrift store. I've found the occasional treasure here, like a great pair of embellished leather loafers for under four bucks. I do enjoy looking through the random items on offer here and consider it an asset to North Springfield. Unfortunately their recent "facelift" did not result in any positive changes I could discern. Still no dressing rooms or public restrooms and the merchandise seems no better organized than 1-2 years previous. read more

If it was possible to rate 0 , that's what my rating would be. Its very sad that the company is marketed to help "disabled veterans" in whom I'm pretty sure need financial assistance or some sort of assistance in general. However all the items that they receive are donated free. As far as I could ever remember in my life, thrift stores were made for people who were less fortunate , or financially strapped to be able to shop or get things in general for their families as needed. (let me clarify , I know anyone can shop there , I'm talking on the affordable side for those of us who are less fortunate)Now the problem I have, is that they have raised their prices higher than Walmart in some instances, have products that the dollar store has but charge higher than purchased brand new , and will not budge , or even give a discount on anything that's remotely obviously not worth the price that they're selling it for. Their prices are based offline, they look at new prices online , and then go half of that price , even if it's damaged grungy , ripped, broken, it's still half of the new price. I completely understand that they need to make money for the organization that they're promoting, however, people that are low income or poverty level can't even afford to buy their children or families anything at the prices that they're listed. But then you go and see job postings that they're hiring managers and assistant managers for $20 an hour. That's absolutely top of the line crazy , if you ask me. Unfortunately, all of this is neither here nor there, and honestly wasting my time and breathe to write this , but It's just sad , what the world is turning into. Also another thing with COVID-19, the dirty cards are placed with the clean carts not sanitized in hopes that whoever touches them next is not going to get the grungy germs that are coming from each and every cart is put back dirty nor is nothing wiped down on a sanitizing level. Very nice employees, but things are priced way too high. $3 for an old hardback book?? Come on now. Most of the clothes are too high priced as well. Little do-dads that were $1 at the dollar store is marked 79 cents. Not much of a deal for something used. And things like toiletries are way too high. You can get better deals at Body and Bathworks during their sales, I have found several good things, but really paid too much. I always go here because I don't know my way around Springfield or where the others are, but now I do thanks to this site. :) This store does have the best radio station on and they play such good songs I usually hang out and shop longer. Their glasses, mugs, and kitchenware are usually overpriced too. I've seen things that were priced the same as if you bought it in the regular store. Yesterday I saw a little china coffee set in a box that was cute for $20! Several of the saucers were broken. I mean, really, what are they thinking? If the set is messed up, it isn't worth much. I saw an iron cross wall hanging for $20. Way too much! That's what it is new at Hobby Lobby! Picture frames are a dime a dozen at garage sales, and this place sells them like they are being bought at some fancy frame place! People donate their things and stores ought to make the prices reasonable. I've passed over many, many things because the prices were ridiculous.
