However, I must update my 5 star rating to 3 stars because they do not even have a MIRROR in this store now. They seem to have permanently closed both the public restroom and the fitting room. They are both marked closed for at least six months now, on every visit. My husband has a somewhat difficult time with clothing fit due to being extra tall and such, and he can't buy clothing here now because there is no way to try it on! While I have an easier time with my size tending to fit, I hate that I cannot even hold up an item and look into a mirror here. I've resorted to taking awkward photos with my phone to see if something goes with my coloring. That's just silly. I can only imagine they have had bad experiences with customers abusing the fitting room for theft, or something of that sort. But seriously, a large full length mirror was in that dressing room and they could at least bring it out into the store for customer use. I'll keep shopping here but I feel like they could have a lot more sales if they would reopen the restroom, or at least the fitting room.

This is an excellent place to shop for anyone who is decorating or redecorating their home. It's also excellent for house warming gifts as well. In addition to wall art I was looking at pretty mirrors, blankets, decorative pillows and throws and scented candles. It made me think of a boutique sized Hobby Lobby. They also have quite a few surprises with their pricing on many of their other pieces but not in a good way. As my wife would say; they're awful proud of their stuff. It's not on everything, but what they overprice they REALLY over price. And you just can't tell what's going to be what. So don't fall in love with anything you see until you know for sure what it's going to cost. They also don't always mark prices on their clearance furniture, so you'll have to ask them to check it for you. Try to keep a poker face when they tell you the cost.

Hope Center Thrift Store has moved as of June 2019 to the old G&W grocery store building in…read moredowntown Mt. Vernon. While it's a bit further off the highway and not as easy to find, this is a larger space and it's already obvious that they needed more room for the store because they now have a wider range of merchandise including some furniture items at great prices. There are still some pretty cool old signs from this building's former life as an old school grocery store! I really enjoy this type of thrift store that may be a little rough around the edges but offers a little bit of everything and very affordable prices.
