For the safety of families and students, RMHS needs to seriously reconsider how graduation seating and crowd management are handled moving forward. It is unfortunate to have to leave this review because graduation should be a positive and memorable experience for families. However, after attending our son's graduation last night, we left extremely concerned about the environment and overall organization of the event. When we arrived, we attempted to find seating in the bleachers as two parents simply hoping to watch our last child graduate from high school. Despite arriving hours before, we could not find even 2 seats together because large sections were being "saved" by individuals holding dozens of seats for extended family members who had not yet arrived and many never did. Leaving empty seats. Such a shame. This created unnecessary tension throughout the stands and contributed to an environment that grew increasingly hostile as the event approached. We personally witnessed, and were victims of, verbal confrontations, aggressive behavior, and foul language exchanged between attendees over seating disputes. What should have been a meaningful celebration instead became stressful and uncomfortable for many families. The poor behavior of these "adults" is on them, but the root cause is on RMHS. The presence of significant security and police staffing made it clear that the school anticipated potential problems. That alone should signal the need for a better preventative approach rather than relying primarily on security to respond "after" tensions escalate. Most of the other large schools have implemented systems that reduce conflict and improve safety, and RMHS should strongly consider similar measures. Possible solutions could include: * Reserved or ticketed seating for "immediate" family * Clearly designated overflow seating for extended family and guests * Policies limiting or eliminating large-scale seat saving No parent should struggle to find 2 seats to watch their child graduate because of avoidable crowd management issues. The good news is there is time to improve this before the class of 2027 takes the field. I sincerely hope RMHS takes the concerns raised by multiple families seriously and works proactively to create a safer, more organized, and more positive experience moving forward. You do not have the luxury to bury your head in the sand now. Change your mindset and be proactive instead of reactive. You, the administration, tout that safety of your RMHS community is a top priority, it's time to walk the walk. read more

This school is horrible please for the mental heath of your child do not send them here they do not care for your children's well being pay attention how fast your child changes from happy to depressed. Teachers don't care if your child needs help with an assignment they basically make your child figure it out on their own because they don't have time. If your child has an illness and has to be stay home for a week be careful your child will be flunked even if they started off with a B in that class. Well, i'll break it down. I went to this school for a little before being pulled out to graduate and i'll give the insight. To begin, we have the bullying. Most girls, alternative, and overall not "regularly" labeled students get harassed by mostly male teenage boys. I know girls who specifically avoid certain stores outside of this school because they know "red mountain boys" will be there. They had a entire protest held by students on school grounds to get men at this school who are famously notorious for "not asking for consent" because everytime they attempted to report it at the school, they got shut down. The office staff are short and it's not these poor ladies fault because they are aggressively underpaid! Security is unprofessional, i knew a girl who PAID off a security guard to turn blind eyes when she ditched, like it was full prison!! Don't get me started with a drug and smoking issues! I have multiple photos of teachers literally falling asleep in class, like seriously putting their head down and sleeping! Obviously highschool is hard for every teenager and i try to hold my take to be unbiased. I move a lot and went to a lot of different schools and this by far, was the worse. I didn't get bullied/harassed, but i knew sooooo many kids who did! And boys harassing other boys! It was overall just absolutely terrible and the lack of empathy from staff and willingness to acknowledge the issues made them spiral into a terrible space for everyone. read more

There are no black teachers! And the yt teachers there do not teach! Ir care for certain students. My daughter brings home homework that was not taught. The school classes be so far apart it makes her late. So she is marked absent And the bathroom are locked with only 2 open making it so packed. Causing her to be late. I am trying to find a new school for her now. She went from a A student to failing and needing summer school. read more

If I were to say this in a pleasant way, this school is a prison. 100% of staff is underpaid, and 90%+ of the teachers reflect that by giving no care to their students. Attendance staff is rude and the attendance policy is backwards and unforgiving. I saw many students spiral into depressive symptoms as the year progressed. All students are overloaded with work, with little to no regard for the stress the students experience. There is a drug problem at the school that the school is solving poorly by assuming installing benches and cutting lunch periods down are going to stop people from getting away with things. I do not feel safe in a school that develops depression and anger in kids which could lead to students harming themselves or others. If your child goes here, keep a close watch on how they feel and what they're going through, because this school will ignore everything the students say it needs to fix. read more

I have two children that go to Red Mountain, one Freshman and the other a driving Junior. They both have PERFECT attendance. We had a mishap at home this morning before school and my daughter was frantic. She was panicking that she was going to be late to school, so I tried calming her down and called the school to tell them that both of my children would be late. This lackadaisical, half asleep woman that answers the attendance line nine times out of ten, told me that I would have to physically walk into the school with them or they would have to go to "SWEEP", which apparently is some kind of punishment group for being late, where you have to sit and do NOTHING. No homework or anything! I said, "What? They have perfect attendance? I am their mother...not you! This school is run like a Gestapo! Every time I have to make a Dr. appointment for my children, I do my best to avoid any conflict with this office for this very reason! You treat parents like WE'RE the criminals!" So she hung up on me! My daughter ran out of the house crying with my son, and I called back and told her that if my daughter and son got in an accident on their way to school, I was going to hold her personally responsible! The nerve! Treating me like a common criminal while the the Red Mountain bathrooms are filled with students vaping and using wax pens! Red Mountain High School is a great Schools l. The teachers are very open and have good communication. The academics are strong. Lots of clubs and activities. Orchestra and Drama are very strong and have great leaders and they both put on good shows. read more

I have come across few teachers or staff at this location that are actually decent beings, among those few are the two or three that are outstanding. Other than that this location is a horrible place. There is a reason it's nickname is "Spread Mountain". Not to mention, how loud the fire drills are. I understand there are 6+ buildings (if you count each portable as it's own building then there is way more than 6). However, there is no reason that a fire alarm should be loud enough to turn a small, barely noticeable headache into a migraine. Thank you for the pain you bring me oh dear school.
