Okay, so I'm a Red Mango junkie. I frequented the Oakbrook Terrace location from the moment it opened. I was eating next door at Prasino and decided to take a little stroll down the street - when I saw that Red Mango was opening, and a self-serve, at that, I was beyond excited. My sister went to school in West Lafayette, IN, and she would always tell me about the amazing extra flavors they had at the self-serve Red Mango on campus. I was always so jealous of her - but jealous, no more! I hightailed it here the day after they opened, and was not disappointed. Summer Melon, Pineapple, Chocolate, Tangomonium - OMG, I have to stop because I'm getting hungry. LOVE that we are able to choose from more flavors than the norm, and that I can fill my cup with as many flavors as I desire! Yes, that's me, holding up the line and mixing several flavors. I love Red Mango. All of them. This one has a great location in downtown LaGrange. Red Mango has everything you would expect from a Fro-yo place. They really set the standard. All kinds of fruit, candy, Boboa, sprinkles, etc.! I always get way too much and my yogurt is like $8: it's easy to do haha. I have a slight addiction to frozen yogurt and I have to say this location is pretty fantastic. I made a stop near closing time so I expected containers to be empty and the staff worried about cleaning up. However, all of the toppings were still well stocked and the staff was very friendly. I liked the choices of the yogurt flavors inside and the wide selection of dry and fresh toppings was a bit more than I've seen at other frozen yogurt shops. This place is most always packed with teenagers or large families/groups--- but it's a nice feeling. They have a lot of seating and room. There is a nice set-up to sit outside. They are open late. It's always been clean when I go in. If you haven't been to a red mango---- don't be fooled. A sundae can still be 500 calories and cost you $7. But, hey, there are worse vices in life. The selection is big, and you can create what you want. The fro-yo does have a bitter yogurty taste, but just ask for a taster cup and try before you buy! And of course you load it up with fun toppings, so it ends up in a yummy state. Right now they are featuring a Nutella-like flavor, and it is DEE-LISH! read more

This is our kids favorite place to go for ice cream/yogurt. And I'm sure they don't care too much about the yogurt, it's the toppings they get excited for! They love being able to pick toppings to customize their yogurts. I enjoy the tanginess of the yogurt here and there is a wide variety of toppings to please all ages. Some opportunities for improvement: there are not enough seats inside at all. We usually take ours down by the fountain to eat. Also the service is spotty. Sometimes you get a nice person but usually they seem new/overwhelmed. A tip: there are now 20% off red mango coupons on the back of Mariano's receipts. I used to have to go out of my way to get Red Mango. I used to have to go to Oakbrook to get my froyo fix and that location isn't even self-serve. I'm glad that this place opened up 5 minutes away from me. All that's left is to add a Jamba Juice somewhere in Downtown La Grange and I'll be a happy camper. Anyway, I like that it's self-serve. You really have free range to mix whatever flavors you want into your cup. There are many options in terms of toppings. You could go the healthy route and top everything with fresh fruits or go my preferred route and add every bit of chocolate you can. You pay by weight, so you have to watch yourself or you'll be surprised at your bill once you put it on the scale. Red Mango in general is fairly pricey for what it is. The place is constantly crawling with kids & teenagers. It seems to be the "it" spot for the youths these days (I talk like I'm a middle-aged woman even though I'm probably lumped in with these kids I speak of as a 20-year-old). It's just kind of sad looking directly across the street to Coldstone and see that it's practically empty while I'm standing awkwardly in the middle of the shop because there is no where for me to sit down. That's another thing, the shop is fairly tiny and there isn't much in the ways of a sitting area. But last I was there it was night time and it was fairly chilly outside. So that might not be a problem in the Summer time. read more

I am very new to the frozen yogurt scene, but after one trip I am HOOKED! The bowls you get to fill are a bit obscene. I was a little horrified to see small children walking out with the medium bowls filled. That being said, my friend & I shared the medium bowl. This is my only complaint (besides lines out the door, but that speaks to how delicious this product is!) This location is self-serve & I think that it can be a positive and a negative. The line probably moves much slower because of this, but I like that I am able to control how much I put in my bowl because they do charge by weight! They have so many healthy options. Starting with the yogurt itself which is generally healthy. Then you can pile on anything from fruit, including the most delicious pineapple and kiwi I have ever had, to mini bits of candy. The medium cup which satisfied my friend & I was just over $6. Not on the cheap side, but if you share (which I highly recommend) or keep the portions small (again, recommended) then this treat is totally worth it. We were crossing through the city looking for something to drink when we find it through yelp. It's your average froyo joint with juice and smoothie station . I got banana and berries smoothie and he got green juice both tasted fresh and great though I wouldn't have mind a little ginger in green juice. It was a good experience. This is a self serve frozen yogurt shop that has mini sample cups and a variety of flavors that will not let you rest. They have toppings such as blueberries and mango slices to top off the yogurt. This is wayyyyyy better (and healthier) than Cold Stone. The frozen yogurt selection was incredible and the toppings were fresh and delicious. You serve yourself so I hear it is easy to spend $8 to fill up the small bowl because it is $.49 an ounce. I only spent $3.50 on my first visit and it was more than worth it and the wait in line on a busy Tuesday night. I am glad it is 20 mins from my house so I don't spend all my money in one place. On October 3rd, I went to Red Mango with my friends to get some Açaí bowls. When we got there we were unaware the shop would be closing in 30 minutes. After walking into the shop there was a young blondish woman behind the counter, I went right up to her and ordered the açaí bowls, she had a very rude attitude with me and stated "you realize we close in 30 minutes, I wish you would have called ahead to order these." This comment is UNACCEPTABLE! I stated that I was sorry and that I wasn't aware they took over the phone orders. I think it was very unprofessional that she stated this and I will think twice before I come back here. I absolutely love the açaí bowls but I would dread to get the horrible customer service that I got on that day. read more

Let me preface this by saying, I've been to other Red Mangos and they were great, but this particular one stands out for its atrocious customer service. Try the Oakbrook Terrace one instead, folks. So here's the situation: being a recent transplant from the San Francisco Bay, aka cradle of the froyo fad, I had a serious craving yesterday afternoon. Froyo's still pretty new in this area, though, and there weren't little pinkberries and red mangos and tutti fruttis all over the place. So I had to drive all the way from Oak Park to La Grange to get some. When I got to Red Mango, parking was terrible and it was pouring outside. POURING. You know, the sort of rain where it looks like someone turned on a fire hose? Yeah, that. I walked three blocks in torrential rain to get to the storefront, and promptly tried to walk in the door. It was 2:40pm. There were other customers inside. The store manager met me at the door and refused to let me in. Reason? Their "grand opening" was just that morning and they reopened at 3pm. Are you joking? It's twenty minutes, lady. I don't even care if you refuse to serve me until 3 sharp; just let me in out of the goddamn rain. And it wasn't like there was a line outside; it was me and maybe 1-2 other people. I understand keeping hours, but have a heart. And get off your damn high horse. Selling froyo doesn't make you some sort of guru of hip. Needless to say, I left, and I'm not coming back. read more

Last week, I went to red mango. Before I went I checked the time it opened, which was at 8. I rode my bike there at around 8:15. When I got there I looked inside and it was empty and closed. As I walk back to my bike I see the employee of red mango. At the time it was about 8:30. I walk across the street to Starbucks and get a coffee and finally they are open at 8:45. I order a tropical smoothie bowl with granola. After having the employee take her time making the smoothie bowl, I walk out. I taste the smoothie bowl and it was the most artificial thing I've ever tasted. It was a waste of my money and I could have just gone to Owl&Lark down the street. This was a bad experience and I won't be back. read more

I don't get what the big obsession is with this place? I guess its kind of fun picking out the flavors and toppings, but its expensive and the yogurt was kind of sour tasting in my experience. Of course, any place in La Grange that is kid friendly is also going to have hoards of screaming teenagers there too, so it's not some place to sit and enjoy your creation. Two competitor sites are opening up in the same area and I would try them first before coming back to Red Mango. Sorry!! read more

There aren't many choices for froyo in the burbs... but this will do. The yogurt is a bit sweet for my taste. The topings are fresh and plentiful. My only complaint is that the staff is unpleasant. Ever heard of smiling? I know they're moody teenagers and probably feel like they are too cool for the job, but come on. I see u smiling at your coworkers. You can smile at the customers too. It was my first time going to red mango and I never want to go back due to the bad service!! I am so glad that they have their employee names and pictures posted on the board :) because the person who gave me horrible services was Julianne. She was rude and did not do her job. That is what we are paying her for, for her to do her job and cut strawberries. She said that she will not be able to give me my acai bowl with strawberries because she did not cut them, yet they were right in front of her! Honey it takes 10 seconds to cut strawberries! If she is getting paid and yet she does not do her job then she does not deserve to have a job. She also stated as I left that my husband and I were bean dip. Completely rude. read more

I love red mango. our yogurt is what it is, yogurt. yogurt will be a bit tart and sour but sweet at the same time. it is not ice cream and people seem to forget that. no artificial flavors and colors. pure sugar, no corn syrup. the size cup doesnt matter. its all weighed by how much you put in. more yogurt and toppings means more expensive. plain and simple. last but not least, dark chocolate...my favorite. dark chocolate is not as sweet as the regular chocolate. bitter. it will be that way. my advice would be to test the yogurt before you fill your cup. dont like the yogurt, try a smoothie. try a mango banana spoonable smoothie. mango, banana, granola and bananas on top. try it with honey. read more

This Red Mango is my wife and my favorite stop in downtown LaGrange, where there are so many fun places to eat -- including several other frozen desert shops within 300 feet. What sets Red Mango apart is the quality of the soft-serv: It's real yogurt, with interesting flavors and toppings. Always friendly service at the checkout counter. And it's nice to sit out front on a warm day. I do wish the indoor dining area was a bit larger, but otherwise this place is perfect. read more

Here is my 100% honest review- I love the froyo itself. The flavors are delicious and it's very light and healthy tasting, doesn't taste too sweet or too much like ice cream, like OTHER froyo shops! The only problems are that it doesn't have as much toppings as I'd like, like other shops do and sometimes at this particular location the gummy candy is quite hard and old tasting like it's never changed out or something. Another thing is it barely ever has my favorite yogurt flavor which I find kinda weird, MANGO, since the name is Red MANGO...it hasn't been available for like 6 months now even though I've requested it... Other than those things it's great and delicious. A bit too pricey though, but that depends on how much you get. That's about it! read more
