It's probably been ten years since I last ate at a Red Lobster, and when we pulled into this one--sporting a nearly empty parking lot--my expectations were already somewhere between low and why are we doing this? My assumption is the locals know something we didn't. I'll start with the positives, because there are a few. Our waitress was great, and the food we actually received was good. There were four of us. Two ordered steaks with baked potatoes, salad, and fries. My wife got the coconut shrimp, and I went with the jambalaya. What showed up tasted fine. What didn't show up told a very different story about how the kitchen is being run. One steak arrived with their baked potato but no fries and the other arrived as just a steak on a plate without a baked potato because they "ran out." The reason the first one didn't have fries was because they had "just dropped them in the fryer." I'm still not entirely sure how either of those things happens in a restaurant, but here we are. This might've been easier to shrug off if we hadn't waited nearly an hour in an almost completely empty restaurant. But after that wait, being told we'd need another 20 minutes for the missing sides was where patience officially left the building. No discount. No comp. Just vibes. The presumed manager never checked on us. Not once. She did make a brief appearance at the very end, dropping off the fries as we were literally walking out, saying "Here you go," and disappearing again. At the same time, another table held our waitress hostage for a solid five minutes, venting about how far downhill this place has gone. The manager was nearby made zero effort to step in or support her. So, over $100 later, we left with missing sides, slow service, and the distinct feeling that no one in charge was actually in charge. Safe to say it'll be another ten years before I step foot in a Red Lobster again. And if they're all being run like this one, they might not even make it that long. read more

The family and I used to live red lobster. Now not so much. Our server was pleasant and attentive but the food left much to be desired. We started with stuffed mushrooms. They used to be crab stuffed mushrooms now they are "seafood" stuffed and if you want crab you have to pay $5.00 more? Then came our New England clam chowder. Again it used to be a cup or bowl now it was a teacup half full. Ridiculous! My husband got the shrimp skewers which were ice cold, they forgot his scampi and had to go back for that. I had the crab carbonara which was literally swimming in greasy butter, and could barely see any of the sauce that was supposed to be on it. We took our daughter here for her birthday dinner. The tables were filthy, the gal who seated us copped an attitude when we asked for the table to be cleaned. The restaurant itself was very dirty; cobwebs on the hanging lights. Dirty dishes waiting to be bussed on several tables around ours. (And they weren't busy at all.) My steak was grisly fat and tough. The crab legs were good, but definitely not what we have come to expect from Red Lobster. No butter for dipping the crabmeat, no proper utensils for getting the meat out. After 3 different "We are out of that" attempts to order a beer with dinner, my husband just settled for water. A horrible experience for a pricey meal. We will choose a different establishment for future family dinners. read more

Have been seeing the commercials about how Red Lobster has changed. Thought I would give it a try. In the commercials they say they got the cheddar biscuits right the first time. Well, that's all they got right. Saw online about Happy Hour with $5 drinks and $2 off appetizers. When got there asked about Happy Hour, was told it was only on appetizers. Ordered an appetizer and a Long Island Iced Tea. $27! The drink was $12.95 and I swear there was Zero alcohol. A Long Island Iced Tea has several liquors, I get the Inflated price, but it should actually have some alcohol in it. I could and did drink it like a regular iced tea. There was No Discount for the appetizer, even having asked about the Happy Hour...Nothing. ordered the popcorn shrimp. Even there the quantity was good, the quality was Horrible. I attempted to eat the shrimp .... not happening. If I had gone to the grocery store and purchased frozen Gordon Popcorn shrimp I would probably be getting a better meal. I know its not the servers fault the meal wasn't great, and I would have tipped him 20%. Again it was $27 and change. I gave him $40 and the correct change. I got back $13. So he only got a $3 tip. Servers need to realize if someone is paying cash and if the want a tip....maybe that $10 ought to be a $5 and 5 $1s. Summary....the commercials are lying about how they have changed. Maybe the others around the nation have changed for the better, but not the one in Statesville. read more

Growing up, Red Lobster used to be my absolute favorite restaurant. Over time though, each visit seems to be worse than the last. I'll go a few months without going back and decide to give it another shot. Then I go and am reminded as to why I went so long without coming back. We arrived Thursday night just before 6pm. There were only a few tables that were occupied that I could see. We were told it would be a brief 5 minute wait, no big deal. Our waiter took surprisingly long to come greet us and take our drink order, which was a warning as to what's to come. We both got waters while we decided on an appetizer. Just the water took forever to get to the table. When it did we ordered the lobster and artichoke dip as well as a cocktail which we never received. The appetizer was good though, normally the cheese drowns everything else out but you could taste the lobster this time. I ordered a live main lobster stuffed with French fries and my wife got the lobster stiffed flounder. When we got our entrees we had been at the table for over an hour already. My lobster was quite pathetic if you act me, and the stuffing was the same consistency of refried beans. Weird. The lobster itself tasted fine aside from being slightly over cooked. Fries were soggy because the butter for the lobster spilled everywhere and covered the fries. My wife's dish was almost comical. The lobster stuffing was about 4 or 5 tiny pieces of lobster on top of the fish. Had a decent flavor though. When were finished with that we asked for a small box. Our waiter came back with the box and then just handed us a check. We were done and didn't want to order anything else, but if we actually had wanted dessert or coffee or something still we probably would have just decided to go somewhere else at that point. When I brought it to his attention that we never received my wife's drink he just said he'd take it off and walked away. I do like their fish and chips, but find their coleslaw and tarter sauce not to my liking both have an aftertaste in my opinion. On this visit our server did not return to check on us as usually happens. I had to stop another server and ask them to let our server know we needed them. I do not like bothering other servers. I visited this red lobster location for a to go order. I got the salmon bowl. The salmon was over cooked which caused the salmon to be dry. For a bowl they only gave like 2 tablespoons of rice. The rice was undercooked. The bowl was missing the edamame that was supposed to come in it. Overall I was very disappointed. The food was not worth the money spent. read more

Popped in here for dinner. Statesville doesn't have a huge variety of seafood restaurants so I was thrilled that Red Lobster is an option. There wasn't a wait & my date and I were seated immediately. Maddie was our server. She provided world class customer service. To my surprise, Red Lobster doesn't have Merlot on their menu. I opted for Pinot Noir but sadly they were out of stock. Maddie, suggested Josh wine but we decided on a bottle of Pinot Grigio instead. The food came out quickly and was delish. Maddie, was personable and came to check on us regularly! I have a wonderful experience every time come to this location. The food is always fresh and tasty. Red Lobster has really stepped up their game on the side salads. Seafood is fresh and delicious. Service is always good and knowledgeable of the specials. Come for the Cheddar Bay Biscuits and stay for the great seafood. Love the coastal seascapes of the New England light houses. Great Place for Lunch. Good Food and a Nice Atmosphere Been awhile since I've been here and I must say, I'm impressed with how they have revamped the menu with new items and selections. Met a friend for lunch here recently and I was surprised. She had the Crab Alfredo while I had the Fish and Chips (one of my favorite) The fish with a bit of malt vinegar was excellent. Nice and flaky and good texture and taste. My friend enjoyed her crab as well. As far as the food goes, lunch was a sucess as was the rest of the dining experience. Service was excellent and attentive and our food came within a reasonable time. Restaurant is spacious and ambiance is very confortable. I have not had the opportunity to visit this restaurant so glad I did . The wife and I were in the mood for sea food and they delivered . I had the salmon with coleslaw and rice the wife had lobster tail with salmon. I have had the salmon in other places but the way they cooked it here was so good not to salty and went well with the rice and slaw . It's kinda pricey but It's understandable for the delicious food and great staff . A good place for a night out with that special one will definitely be coming back . read more

The food was great. All you can eat shrimp. Our waitress was horrible but oh well. We had to grab her as she walked by( she would never make eye contact) The one thing that bothers me is that the waitstaff and managers walk in everyday and ignore the facts that the areas around the tables are dirty. The wall beside our booth was nasty. Old spills and splashes of old meals. The menu book on the table was crusty and sticky. Clearly nobody goes the extra mile to ensure that everything is clean. For my mom's birthday she wanted to go to Red Lobster, so we made the trek up 1-77 north (to Statesville) to partake in some "seafood lover" goodness! This particular location sits in a bustling area off 1-40, in a vast shopping area with various shops & other restaurants. First impression upon walking in: it was quite chilly! Yes, it was in the upper 70s outside, but it felt like 60 degrees inside. We were seated upon walking in. For the 7 of us, we sat comfortably in a large round table - which is a plus for the restaurant. Nothing is worse than being crunched in a booth or table with that many people. Kadesha was our waitress & she is awesome! She greeted us as soon as we sat down and took our drink orders. Quickly, she brought them out & took our food order. In no time, she was back with our salads. The salads were fresh. Now, the food time took a bit, for some reason. However, the unlimited cheddar bay biscuits tied us over. Those things are SO good! Once our food came out, we were pleased with everything. Presentation was top notch, as well as the temperature of the food. I had the pick two shrimp, with the popcorn shrimp & scampi. The shrimp were good size & tasted delicious. My baked potato was fine. The overall restaurant was clean & the other servers were friendly & efficient with their tables. Was taken here on Mother's Day. Usually adore this place however Mother's Day it was terrible. Service was absolutely horrible and our server was very pushy(literally was grabbing my menu and slamming pages around to show the specials???) not to mention he sprayed himself down in cologne next to us (ew) how romantic right? We were seated in the booth with a view into the kitchen and were sat staring at this girl who was rolling silverware who kept mubling her hatred for the place (awkward much)..... All we saw was waiters yelling and becoming flustered, one even saying "this place makes me want to kill myself"...manager yelling about who called for a pina colada....and yelling about why waiters were leaving things places....and why things weren't being ran to the table......... Heyyy you're at Red Lobster and it's all-you-can-eat shrimp month! Probably the best deal on their menu. And this location is so customer service oriented, friendly and genuinely helpful I loved it. With the all you can eat shrimp they always had my next plate ready. Although I have to say I got a few items I didn't order, they didn't seem well organized. Hard to be when you have one person taking orders and about 2 or 3 others serving food. And I couldn't complain when I got piles of shrimp - my plate almost never ran empty. And if you want to take some home they have no problem dropping it into a box for you to carry-out. Which is commendable considering most places aren't always so generous with the all you can eat deals. The shrimp special aside, per the name, their lobster is excellent stuff. Usually once a year they have a roundtable of lobster options including lobster mac 'n cheese and a sweet seafood goulash/soup with hefty chunks of lobster, scallops, shrimp and morsels of mussels. I may not frequent chain joints like I once did but I will never shun Red Lobster! read more

This was my third visit to this location and once again, I was not impressed. We visited on a Thursday for late lunch, only a couple of other tables were seated. Waitresses seemed to have perfected disappearing acts, as once we received our food, they went missing. The manager brought us refills. The biscuits were good, but the shrimp and fish were bland. Had to wait way too long to get out bill and people were having to wait for someone to come to the hostess stand to be seated. Hot and portions very good size. The salad greens were crisp. Natalie is a wonderful server nice, efficient and gets the dirty dishes cleared. I would literally give no stars if I could, I got the Salmon New Orleans and when I say it came sitting in grease. I mean it literally came out with a literal puddle of greasy oily orange gunk underneath it, so much oil you could see it separating from whatever else was in it. The shrimp was edible but the salmon was the most undercooked I've ever seen. It literally was cold and the skin on the bottom stuck to the grease pile on the plate. The baked potato had so much butter in it that even after I scraped it out I still couldn't eat it. Not to mention that due to this undercooked fish I was awake at 4am for two hours having a coming to Jesus meeting with the toilet, from both ends. 25 years ago was the last time I was in a Red Lobster in Daytona Beach and it was disgusting. I received a gift card, took my son and we got lobster, it was GREAT, delicious. We had the feast or something, rice was buttery and sweet potato side was more like dessert. Our waitress was on point, attentive and quick. We had a sweet hostess that was so polite. The last time I came here I had scallops which were as big as quarters. Today they were smaller than a dime, as small as my thumbnail, smh. Hardly any flavor. The waitress took so long getting me a replacement steak she called the manager over. He comped my meal but I never got my steak! I would have rather had my steak and paid for my meal!
