One of many Red Jug locations. Fun Pub that has certain nights where there's free food. You can also buy a jug here for ~$40 which lasts you a year. There's an entire system with white and black straps. Just ask and the bartender will explain it to you. This is a great bar for people that don't like annoying freshmen. They are strict on IDs so it's 21 and over only. Additionally, their apparel are a real hit on the college campuses around Oneonta. Go in and do a t-shirt challenge 10 beers of your choice or 4 vodka lemonades and you'll get a shirt and beer glass. (You can also just buy the shirts/hats, but it's a better deal to do the challenge) $5 off on Saturdays to do a t-shirt challenge. On birthdays, the Jugs gives you devil horns, a free mixed drink, and a free shot! Great place to be. You can also pay for songs and there's a pool table. My favorites from here is the blue raspberry vodka lemonade and their Long Island iced tea is the best out of all the bars on main street! Sunday nights are super laid back. I've been coming in this place consistently and you would think this bar tenders would make it a point to try and get to know my drink. I think good customer service is part of that especially for those that come in on a regular basis. This business does not provide great service at all. I would not recommend this business for any sort of locals. As someone who works locally, this is disappointing as I see workers who come into my place of business and expect the same treatment. read more

Typical college town bar. Lots of college kids but sometimes see locals there too. They check IDs at the entrance and seem pretty strict about it. Service is okay. If you do the T-shirt challenge with the lemonade drinks you also get to keep a glass, but with the beer you only get the T-shirt. Don't bother using the juke box.. I tried it and wasted a $1. Stayed at the bar for over an hour and never heard my song play. You can get the app and it might work, but you have to purchase a certain about of credits and I just wanted to play 1 song. Me and a few friends went out last night to celebrate my 21st birthday in Oneonta. Going to school here you'll always hear about how the jug is the best bar around and a coming of age sort of thing when you're 21. The experience I had was not the same. Went to the jug for around an hour and a half and it was nearly impossible to order something from the bar. Decided to go find a bar that was a little more friendly and welcoming, but there were none that were open. We decided at 1:15 we would cut our losses and go back to the jug for the last hour it was open. As soon as I opened the door, I was screamed at to "get the f out". Don't know what happened to human decency in Oneonta but someone should definitely bring it back read more

It is what it is. Their beer prices vary dramatically depending on the day of the week and the time of day. They do have a great beer selection for the area. The space is relatively narrow and during peak times it can get claustrophobic. read more

Out of all the bars in town, this is the only one I've been able to hang out for more than an hour and enjoy myself. It's cleaner than the other bars in town and it has much better lighting too. Week nights are chill and laid back, and although the weekends get busy the staff is really on top of making sure everyone is taken care of and has a good time. The bartenders know what the specials are and always have a recommendation for what else to try on tap if they don't have your usual. Also, the fruit is way fresher than anywhere else in town. If you don't know what to try, go for one of their flavored lemonades! They're a sure-fire win. read more

Packed wall to wall with people, very hard to move. It's definitely more of an Oneonta / Hartwick undergrad bar than a place for adults to enjoy. It took me about 20 minutes to get a drink each time I was able to force my way up to the bar and we all had to yell to hear one another. If I were 21 I would probably rate this higher and it seems like a popular spot for the younger crowd but definitely not for me! read more

This place is always packed with college students, which depending on how you feel can be awesome. A lot of the bartenders are students, so they're pretty chill and fun to talk to. It is definitely a good stop on your birthday, a free drink and cup and some horns to let everyone know who's gonna be the drunk idiot tonight. Music is off a juke box, so there is plenty of variety. Management and the bar staff were too busy hanging out with people at the bar and drinking to bother helping me. The previous bartender - a 23 year old woman from Milford was extremely helpful until the manager took over the shift. I went from having a great time to wanting to leave as soon as I finished my beer. Bear in mind that this is coming from an understanding a Food and Beverage Director of a substantial local business. The Red Jug Pub is one of my favorite bars in Oneonta. First of all, it is super clean! The atmosphere is fantastic and I really felt at home when I was sitting at the bar with my family. Second, do they only hire gorgeous bartenders? They are always super friendly and extremely helpful. Looking for something sweet to drink? Try one of their Vodka Lemonades. Super refreshing! If you're more of a beer drinker, they have like..24 different beers on tap! Along with a great selection, they also have AMAZING deals. When we were there, it was happy hour so pints were $2 or $2.50..you just can't beat it! Really looking forward to our next trip to Oneonta so we can come back to the RJP! :) read more
