The space is open and welcoming. They have a variety of expensive and affordable, big and small. There is a lot of art- hanging and out on shelves. They also have pottery and a ton of pretty handmade jewelry. You can find some snacks and soaps here as well as the occasional card and or print. They also have some nice leather bags. Great for some street browsing. Would be easy to leave with something unique and special.

The North Carolina Glass Center has opened a second location. This one is in Black Mountain. It was…read morenear where I stopped for brunch so I had to check it out as I love glass work. The Glass Center is inviting and you will be greeted when you arrive. I was able to browse the art work and watch a piece being made. I learned about the NC Glass Center's mission of shared glass studio where all glass artists can access it by renting time. The Glass Center offers classes too so everyone can try creating with glass. The gallery is open if you'd rather have a ready made piece of art. I plan on returning for a class once I decide what to make.

The Black Mountain Center for the Arts is located in Downtown Black Mountain. It is in the former…read moreCity Hall Building. Stairs are the only option to get to the second-floor gallery as the elevator got damaged by Hurricane Helene. Parking is on the street and in public lots. I found out about the Art in Bloom exhibit that was happening and made sure to fit it into my plans. The artwork and flower displays were upstairs. I was there the last day and they still looked amazing. I was thrilled I got to see the creativity. The staff was very friendly and welcoming here, and even provided me with a tour of the facility. The Center has performing arts so I joined the mailing list so I could find out about upcoming theatre performances and concerts. Classes and workshops are offered too. This is a great asset to the community.

Okay, this was one of the new exhibitors at the Naperville Art Fair. OMG, there are no words…read more This man uses REAL leaves to make decorative pieces, coasters, and trivets. Each piece is an original work of art. The leaves range in size from 4-5 inches all the way up to 11 inches and larger. He will make a piece from a leaf that you provide if you are not satisfied with the ones he uses. They are grape leaves, banana leaves, maple, all sorts of leaves and the colors are absolutely fabulous. You have to check out the website for the full effect. For someone with a math and science brain, I find this work is most unusual and yes, a few pieces did come home with me. She made it a really bad experience. Potters are usually great people so I was disappointed by my experiences with her. I recommend other studios for potters.
