A staple to Richlands. I've tried so many things on the menu and I've never been disappointed. Bourbon chicken is SO GOOD and I feel like it's a hidden gem. You'd never expect to see a Philly steak and cheese egg roll on the menu, order it. It's so surprisingly good. BBQ spare ribs are phenomenal. Wontons and Dumplings are made in house. I can't help but review this place in comparison to my memories of it. My friend and I used to go here every weekend when we were in high school. We would each get a large order of General Tso's chicken and take half of it home. I always intended to eat it later, but then my mom discovered it and I just wound up getting two orders. That stuff was amazing. Over 10 years later, it's not fair to expect that the place is the same, and it isn't. The new dining room is a lot bigger, for one, and they're a lot busier. And I'm vegetarian now, but luckily, good old Red Flower didn't let me down. Their "diet special" menu section appears mostly vegetarian, so I had the bean curd and broccoli, which was good but could have used more sauce. I guess the "diet" part is that you just get a drizzle of sauce on it, but the tofu (bean curd) was nice and crispy, and I always enjoy broccoli. We also had the sweet cheese wontons, which I didn't like so much. They were just too sweet, and I prefer a savory cream cheese wonton. And the bags of wonton strips tasted like bagged wonton strips; they were stale and inedible. I'd stay away from those. My husband got the General Tso's chicken, because I told him he should. He didn't like it as much. It didn't look like the same dish I used to get, and when I tried a little bit of the sauce, it didn't taste the same either. Oh well. There are a lot of other things on the menu, but that's a bit disappointing. Red Flower is very good for the area, and it's one of the extremely few places there that will feed me a substantive meatless meal. It doesn't hold up to comparison with other Chinese restaurants I've tried outside the area, but then again, there isn't a lot of other Chinese food around. Am I a little biased in favor of this place? Absolutely, but if you're in Richlands looking for a decent (not fast food) meal at a decent price, I would definitely recommend it. read more

Tried for the first time last week. The wonton soup was excellent, with wontons filling the quart container to the top. Fried dumplings were plump and delicious. Roast pork fried rice had plenty of pork and onions but could have used a few more vegetables. Very pleased with these choices. Also had P17 Hot and Spicy Chicken & Shrimp. It was a large portion with plenty of chicken and shrimp. Despite ordering it extra spicy, and the dish having "spicy" in its name, it was really quite bland and definitely not spicy. I won't order it again and was quite disappointed with this choice. My other issue is that their online menus have old pricing and the final total was considerably more than the online pricing. I am only giving this disgusting pigsty one star because I can't give it anything lower. The food is absolutely nasty and the place is filthy. I don't see how they possibly pass the health inspections. I've eaten there five times because I love Chinese food and it is the only Chinese restaurant near where I live and work. There are uncountable Chinese restaurants in this country and I'm sure everyone has their favorite. Red Flower is mine, and I have sampled endless numbers of these places. So, this is in my hometown, I grew up with it, and maybe I'm biased. Maybe I have eaten there so many times that when we call and place our order they know our phone number by heart, and often remind us of any items in our standard order that we've forgotten to mention. When I moved to New York City after college, they would mournfully ask my mother why I hadn't been around lately. Truth be told, I was heartbroken too. And now, maybe some of those "real" food review website folks will even cringe that I would dare offer a Chinese take-out joint a 4 star rating while simultaneously tearing down much finer establishments. But, my opinion is that 1.) I review a place relative to my own expectations of it and 2.) if you don't like that you can kiss my General Tso, if you get my drift. Speaking of General Tso's Chicken, theirs is perfect. The sauce is perfectly perfect, the crispiness is crispily perfect and you have no doubt at any time that you are indeed eating good pieces of chicken. They also are masters at cooking the vegetables in their dishes, which may seem like a small point, but it really makes a big difference. I long for the day when I cook a piece of broccoli as well as they do. There are even a few special treats on their menu like "Coconut Shrimp" which is fried shrimp in a sweet coconut white sauce and "Sweet Cheese Wontons" which are a sort of dessert fried wonton. Chances are, you won't end up in the tiny town of Richlands anytime soon, but if you do and you just have that inner need for Chinese food, Red Flower is the reigning champion. read more

My friend and I recently walked into the Red Flower restaurant, and we were appalled at how filthy the place was. Everything was dirty. There were boxes piled in disarray along one wall, the floor was sticky and covered in built-up grime, the service area had old drink spills that had soured and smelled horribly and there were flies literally everywhere. I went to the bathroom, and I would not even use it. Needless to say, we walked out without having anything to eat. We will never go back. This is my favorite place for Chinese food. The egg rolls and crab Rangoon are great. I love their chicken mai fun. The egg drop soup is good. I've been eating at Red Flower since I was 14. As far as strip mall chinese goes, it's really as good as any I've eaten at in larger cities. I'm a huge fan of the steamed dumplings. There are several buffet restaurants around, but Red Flower isso much better. read more
