Can I just say that the family that owns this dojo is absolutely wonderful? Sensei Shahin & Sensei Alec are so patient, reassuring, nurturing and kind to their students. And they also naturally command respect and discipline without having to be mean nor strict. I also watched how they taught some other classes out of curiosity and came to the same conclusion, that we're in the right place. My 6 year old son just started Karate and he loved it immediately because of the Jahanvash family. They've been nothing, but welcoming. In fact, he listens to them better than he listens to me and his dad, LOL. They have a great program for new sign ups, 2 free private classes for the child to earn their white belt. Which was awesome because my son got to know Sensei Shahin one on one, and at the beginning of the first private lesson, my son was apprehensive and asked to go home. Sensei Shahin proceeded to ask him random questions about his likes and dislikes, having nothing to do with Karate to get him to warm up. And after 5 mins, my son became a chatter box. You can feel the care that Sensei Shahin & Sensei Alec have for the kids. It's not just a transaction to them, but a relationship and a mentorship. My son actually complained today that he didn't have class (we signed him up for 2x per week), that's how much he's fallen in love with it. I have known Shihan Jahan-Vash for over 19 years. All 3 of my son's and myself have studied here. My oldest son got to 2nd class Brown before joining the Army after High School, he is now a Police officer in New Mexico. My middle son got his 1st degree Black belt before joining the Navy. My youngest son just graduated High school and has had his black Belt 2 1/2 years. He is working towards his 2nd degree test in December. A friend of ours referred it to us and after visiting there and meeting the staff we knew this was the choice for our kids.
