Breakfast had a wide assortment of hot and cold foods and our family gathered in that same dining area for cards and conversation which was perfect since we hadn't seen each other in a year. Our guest room was very clean, spacious, and included a microwave and refrigerator which we used. The cleaning staff refreshed our towels in between our two day stay. The front desk recommended places to dine and we chose the Pasta House which was very good and again the staff was so nice. Farmington really wins the prize for having such nice people. Upon entering the room, I noticed a foul stench, and roaches crawling up the walls and out from under the furniture. I then went and asked for a refund, not a minute after paying for the room and the owner/manager refused to give any refund. To make it even more interesting, after staying because I couldn't get my refund... the manager confronted family I had in the area who were dropping my daughter off and told them they had to immediately leave and instructed me to stay in my room and that I could not come out. In addition he had the nerve to tell me I had to keep my curtains shut and remain in the room at all times. Last tim I checked, when you get a room at a hotel you are not confined to your room. They have a pool that rivals the muddy, infectious one that you see in National Lampoons Vacation when they rent those shacks on their trip. The owner of this establishment is of middle eastern descent and clearly doesn't realize this is not a dictatorship and the citizens of this country are free to come and go as they please. So I repeat: DO NOT STAY IN THIS MOTEL!!!!

Ash did a wonderful job... 3 different types of eggs, 2 types of sausage, grits, biscuits and gravy and a push-button pancake maker! (Which my husband loved!) Their merch wall was a great touch... hats, signature pillows, very classy things. Then the Lobby... so comfortable with fireplace, leather sofas, game/eating tables, popcorn machine, and games galore!! The facilities have been renovated, and have the feel of a tastefully decorated home. The outdoor pool (with salt water!) and fire pits are wonderful gathering spots, especially for families with kids. No complaints but have some improvement recommendations; TV is pitifully small; the lighting in the bathroom isn't conducive to putting on make up; (much too dim); the light inside the door is a CFL and isn't bright enough to see what's in your luggage on the luggage rack. Room could use more USB outlets (there is a "hidden" one in the clock.) A cleaning staff member was not wearing a mask but when brought up to the mgr, was corrected immediately.

The couch was a pull out. The suite was able to sleep 6, but we only had 3 people. Regarding the pool..... it was great! The first day we went it was pretty cold so we didn't stay long. The second time we went was better! We played basket ball, putt putt, air hockey, ping pong, and billiards. The best part was that we reserved the private movie theater room on the rainiest day! We had such a great time and watched 2 movies back that day! The staff was thorough, helpful and kind! It was overall a great stay!

I had a wonderful stay at The Southern Hotel on my road trip between Nashville and St. Louis. The…read morebuilding is beautiful with an interesting history and there are so many common rooms to explore (the music room, the saloon -- complete with the classic swinging doors, a game room with an antique billiard table, a garden with a swing, a porch with comfy rocking chairs, and of course the dining room), plus artifacts in the hallways to explore. The innkeepers greeted me with a tour AND a warm chocolate chip cookie and were helpful throughout my stay. Two seating times were offered for breakfast, 8 and 9am, and an hour prior to the seating they set out coffee and fresh butterscotch bread which was delicious, I enjoyed starting my day drinking my coffee and nibbling on my sweet treat on the porch rocking chairs with a book. I'm a vegetarian and even so the innkeepers gave me two options for breakfast the night prior, a drunken caramel French toast and a cheesy potato casserole (a very hard decision, but I went with the French toast which was so tasty.) The main was served with the best blueberry muffin I've ever had, strawberries with yogurt topping, and an orange slice -- indulgent but not excessively so. I stayed in Lulabelle's room which is on the third floor. It was lovely and so charming. I slept well on the gorgeous antique bed and felt cool in the warm summer. I enjoyed a bath in the clawfoot tub along with the herb bath salts left for me. Note that the third floor has slightly steeper stairs than the second floor. I appreciated that each guest was given a set of keys to their room, the outside door, and the garden, which made me feel safe and secure as a single traveler. The hotel is a short walk to the main street of Sainte Genevieve, which is very cute and has a variety of restaurants, shops, and museums to enjoy. The innkeepers were very helpful and had lots of information to share about the town. I was able to get dinner on a Sunday evening. I just wish I had more time! Hope to stay again soon, thank you!
