If you don't want to read the whole review I'll summarize by saying don't book here, it's a rundown…read moreproperty with poor food and no good river access. The bumpy, crumbling, neglected driveway into the property was the first clue. Our cabin was so musty it gave us head aches and runny noses. There was a dehumidifier running (which we emptied three times a day as no one from the property ever came to check on it) and four box fans running when we entered the unit. It had a European style ventless A/C which could not keep up with the heat and left one bedroom unusable at night for sleeping. The furniture looked as if it was from the 60's and the front porch furniture even older. The cabin was sort of clean, the bathroom faucets still had toothpaste spots from previous guests. The porch was just plain dirty with holes in the screens. On a positive note, the beds and linens were more than acceptable and the staff who worked there could not have been nicer. Food is included in your room rent and it was awful. First night dinner..some shredded slaw with a limey dressing of some sort and a plate of oily noodles topped with cube steak cooked with chunks of green peppers and onions..the cook's take on Philly Cheesesteak noodles ??? A small piece of bought carrot cake. No bread, no butter, never a choice, food is served plated. There was a coffee pot in the room which we used the first morning (as well as some complimentary Folgers) only to find not one single mug to drink it. And there were no glasses either which we had not noticed as we had bottled water. We found that when we went to pour some wine! Lunch was a "bag lunch" which would have been fine. In other places we've stayed bag lunch to the river is great, sandwich, chips, piece of fruit and a cookie and that's what we expected. Instead this is what we got, this "sandwich", no mayo, no mustard, and off brand bag of chips, no fruit, no cookie, not even a napkin. The second day was a repeat of the first but this time the sandwich was a blob of cold pulled pork on a bun and the chips, nothing else. It was like the pork you buy at Sam's Club but you would serve it heated! The charge for this wonderful food was $55 per day!! And the beautiful Black River could not be seen from the property. You had to walk down the long hill, cross the two lane gravel road, make your way through the brush to find a treacherous set of steps to reach the river. In short we left early. It is impossible to understand the 5 star reviews unless written by someone with interest in the property, especially the one written by "Sabrina". If you are looking for a place to stay go to the Black River Lodge, the property is cared for, lots of activities, three family style meals a day, and a well maintained set of steps that take you right to the river. Interestingly, these properties are owned by the same people, but Wilderness Lodge has certainly been neglected.

Great food and amenities! The black river is crystal clear and always cool and refreshingread more

The bedrooms would an adequately sized! The master had a whirlpool tub but that whirlpool tub was not very big. We actually did not use it. The toilet area in the master was rather small. But let me tell you about the bed..... it was so incredibly comfortable! The other bedroom had a smaller be and a bigger bathroom with an actual shower/bath combo. We all showered in there. The couch was a pull out. The suite was able to sleep 6, but we only had 3 people. Regarding the pool..... it was great! The first day we went it was pretty cold so we didn't stay long. The second time we went was better! We played basket ball, putt putt, air hockey, ping pong, and billiards. The best part was that we reserved the private movie theater room on the rainiest day! We had such a great time and watched 2 movies back that day! The staff was thorough, helpful and kind! It was overall a great stay!

They have so many activities to keep adults and kids occupied! Each day's activities are posted on a board in the lodge. The adults loved the tournaments-shuffleboard, ladder-ball, etc. 4 year old daughter had a blast with the train rides, crafts, and mostly the pool. There are evening festivities in the lodge such as a carnival, talent show, etc. lots of fun with the other guests. Great river floats in raft/canoe/inner tubes twice a day-fantastic! The pool was recently redone with a slide-very nice area. Lots of independent activities available from ping pong to Archery to mini-golf, plus play grounds. Meals are included and are good-burgers, chicken n dumplings, fried chicken, spaghetti to name a few of the dishes. Owned by several generations of same family. Owners and staff so nice and helpful! The cabins are clean and have ac-but they are old. I'm a priss and brought my own towels, pillows and bedding and made do. It was ok-didn't spend a lot of time in cabins anyway but be aware they are rustic. Overall a great family get away at a very reasonable price! B

We were there when the new pools were put in and were supposed to be heated. We had rented many condos for events and birthday parties. Here are the facts several of the locations need updated especially the condos which I hear now are all under construction. We tolerated the bad because it was private and the fireworks display every year was awesome! Then my parents died.... That is where the nightmare began. My brother and I were listed to inherit the deed upon their death the primary amount for the ownership had been paid off for many years. There were just outrageous fees they wanted to charge my brother and I to take over what was already deeded to us in the paper work. The amount they wanted was almost the same cost of a membership. We fought and was able to just cancel the contract without paying for anything but all the money my parents paid into this scam was lost. I have also read a bunch of the responses from the business manager and most of them are snide sarcastic remarks tenement to used car sales. Most saying we cannot please everyone and discounting most of the reviews on here. So again read what the BBB has to say and head the warning. The below is what the Better Business Bureau States about LVL Lost Valley Lake Resort This business is NOT BBB Accredited. Find BBB Accredited Businesses in Resort. Current Alerts For This Business Pattern of Complaint: Better Business Bureau is advising consumers to use caution when considering doing business with Lost Valley Lake Resort. BBB has received a pattern of consumer complaints alleging changes to contracts without owner approval, increases in maintenance fees, promise made for improvements of the facility are not honored, failure to issue refunds, consumers/owners are unable to cancel their ownership and overall poor customer service. The company responded stating, "We do believe there is a misconception that Lost Valley Lake is similar to a timeshare. Lost Valley Lake is not a timeshare, but an Undivided Interest (UDI) deed. Annual membership dues were increased for maintenance reasons for the property. We are attentive to the needs of the elderly who own at Lost Valley Lake and grant exceptions for extreme hardships. An owner's death is not the same process as a timeshare, there are estate matters which must be attended to by the Executor and or children. All owners have access to the property 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. There is a cost to transfer a deed which has increased to $1500. The transfer process is similar to a closing on a home. The Board of Directors provides oversight of operations at Lost Valley Lake."

The views amazing, the cabin beautiful and brand new and although camping is fun, the dedicated bus pickup and drop off and a cool cabin to shower and chill in after a hot float is top notch relaxation. We'll continue to go every year. The staff is great, efficient, and its well oiled machine that delivers every year. If you're going to camp, camp by the bathroom, it's totally worth being by the bathroom but it's not so close it smells or anything.
