I have been in here a few times and used to love it. I was shopping here on Friday, May 16 around 12:40 PM with a friend when I was approached by Shannon, the owner and woman who sits at the counter. She told me she was going to call the cops. Yes--seriously. She was accusing me of shoplifting.
Naturally, I was confused. I was literally holding a $3-4 buckle hair clip in my hand that I was planning to buy. But she demanded I empty my pockets, and I did. All I had on me was my phone, wallet, keys, and some cash. At that point, an apology would've been the decent thing to do on her end. But nope, she doubled down and claimed to have recordings of me saying I'd stolen from Target before (??).
First of all, that conversation never happened. Second, I've never stolen anything in my life. I suggest she rewatches that footage carefully because if that's what she thinks she heard, she either needs subtitles or a hearing test.
I honestly believe I was stereotyped from the moment I walked in. I'm 20, but I guess my camo hoodie made me look like a troublemaking teenager. Spoiler alert: I'm a college student who just wanted to thrift on my day off. I walked straight to the jewelry section (because I've been here before and knew where to go). At one point, I pointed at something and told my friend, "We should get something like that for the apartment." I think that's what she misheard and ran with.
Anyway, I was so upset I left the parking lot in tears. I've never been accused of stealing before--it was shocking and honestly humiliating. When I asked her to show me the footage, all she said was: "I'd like you to leave." No clarification, no evidence. Just attitude.
I was planning on buying a hair clip. That's it. But instead, I got accused, embarrassed, and kicked out. And from what I've read in other reviews on various platforms, this isn't the first time someone's called out her rude behavior.
I'd love to hear an explanation from her. Unless, of course, she's going to lie again. I've already reached out to her but I wouldn't be surprised if she ignores me. That is why I'm writing here too. read more
