David is not taking our new clients got called transferred to some other guy who asked me what I was paying for my services before and if it's an alignment, I said that still doesn't answer my question of what advisory services you offer and he said I guess I don't think this is gonna be a good fit and I said no because you're rude so I wouldn't recommend calling them unless you want someone to be rude to you read more

I started using the David Oase C.P.A. accounting firm, recently renamed to Red Alder Accountants, nearly three years ago after my previous C.P.A. retired after giving me nearly 30 years of service. I am very pleased with the level of professionalism I receive on a constant basis from David, Vanessa Olivarria, and the entire team, which is very competent, detail-oriented, quick, reliable, and attentive. They always completed my tax returns with utmost accuracy and a quick turn-around. I'm happy I found Red Alder and I will continue to use them for years to come. I highly recommend them. read more

I had a similar experience to another reviewer (Richard A.). David's team filed my taxes incorrectly based on my specific situation. When I returned to ask for a correction, David was apathetic about the issue. He never apologized for the mistake, and although he agreed to fix it, he did absolutely nothing to resolve the problem. I found their service to be unreliable and unprofessional. In the end, I had to find another firm to fix their mistake. read more

Chad and Vanessa from David Oase CPA are phenomenal to work with. From accounting advice for small businesses to tax support, they are generous, knowledgeable and responsive. I trust their advice wholeheartedly. Plus their rates are reasonable. 10/10 recommend! read more

We were referred to David Oase, CPA by Guardian Tax Law for some tax forms I needed prepared rather last minute. Chad was efficient, professional, and very knowledgeable. He was easy to communicate with and very reasonably priced for the work requested. After the work was completed, I felt like Chad and David Oase, CPA were a firm I could trust and rely on; and I look forward to working with them in the future. I highly recommend David Oase, CPA (and Chad!) for your business accounting needs! read more

Unresponsive and Unprofessional Service Led to Missed Deadline. I had previously worked with Angelica Chavez at David Oase CPA and had a great experience, which is why it's so disappointing to report such a change in her level of service. I want to preface this by saying I was hesitant to leave a negative review, since I can't speak for the other associates at David Oase CPA, but I felt it was important to warn people about my experience working with Angelica specifically. Angelica had helped me to file an extension for my taxes. As the due date approached, I reached out to her through multiple emails, asking to set up an appointment to file my taxes. No response. I even tried calling the office and leaving voice messages. Still, nothing. Feeling the pressure of the approaching deadline, I decided to proceed with TurboTax to handle my filing. Interestingly, TurboTax offered an option to send my tax information directly to my CPA. Thinking this might finally get Angelica's attention, I chose that route. It worked--but not in the way I had hoped. Angelica did respond, immediately, but only to inform me that sending tax info via TurboTax was "improper." There was no acknowledgement of my previous attempts to contact her, and she didn't address my request to schedule an appointment. I replied, once again asking to set up a meeting. You guessed it--no response. In the end, I missed my deadline, which will no doubt result in additional fees. It's frustrating to deal with this level of unresponsiveness and lack of professionalism, especially when it comes to something as critical as taxes. I'm disappointed and will be looking for another CPA firm that values client communication and respects deadlines. read more

David makes taxes feel a little less stressful! He ensures that all of your questions are answered and offers plenty of useful information. I just moved to Tucson and during the previous year had many life changes. I usually do my own taxes but this year it felt too overwhelming. David got me in quick and handled everything with such ease. I highly recommend! read more

Worked with Chad for the first time this year. He was incredibly responsive, thorough, and I believe worked hard to genuinely find ways to save us money... even going so far as to correct my own mistakes in previous year's returns. On top of all that, the bill for his services came in under what I was used to paying from my previous accountant. Can't say I'm ever looking forward to tax season, but he made things feel so much more manageable. read more

They canceled on me two weeks before the federal deadline, saying my case was too complicated. This was after they had had my info for weeks. Unprofessional and flaky read more

I needed a local CPA to help file my personal taxes. I performed some investments including crypto transactions and they agreed to help file my AZ and federal taxes. I had a good feeling. This is my first year I decided to try a CPA to navigate me through tax nightmare. I was stung along for weeks. Then about 4 weeks before the tax deadline. I get a call saying that they won't file taxes because of my crypto. My suggestion if you have crypto investments, go elsewhere. Don't waste your time. Crypto has existed for more than 10 years. This is a CPA business. It is the job as a CPA to learn how to navigate taxes... read more

I brought my taxes to David & Chad and it was a mistake. They made a mistake and never apologized for their mistakes. I found them to be unreliable, evasive on answering questions and again unable to admit they failed. David - in my opinion - has NO people skills. He has other people preparing that he supposed to check, but apparently he doesn't bother. He evaded my questions on how the mistakes came about. Again, not a people person. My advice is check & double check all of their work!!!!!!!! read more

I worked with Chad to prepare my taxes for 2020. He tried to refer me to a friend of his who is a financial advisor, but could not tell me if this friend was a fiduciary financial advisor so I'm not sure how he's able to vouch for the quality of the services he pushes on his clients. He then, without my permission or knowledge, gave my phone number to his friend who spammed my phone repeatedly for months trying to sell his financial advising services. I found this inappropriate and decided to go elsewhere for this tax year. However, Chad, without asking or communicating with me, decided to file an extension on my behalf even though I have given him no indication that I planned to continue his services or remain his client. This lack of communication (I had no idea he filed on my behalf) created a huge hassle for me with trying to figure out why my extension was being rejected, finding out my tax payment was also rejected with the extension and figuring out if I now owe a late penalty. read more

They explain things so I really understand. Ask for Wally!

Tried to do my taxes myself this year after the person I was getting it done from stopped doing taxes. When I was doing it I somehow managed to owe $3500 plus to the IRS. Took it to these guys and spoke with Wally and he took me from owing money to getting a refund in excess of $5k. Wally was straight to the point and I dug his sense of humor. Definitely worth the price I paid and then some. Will definitely be getting my taxes done from him and this place going forward. read more
