I had to ditch a bike early in the season due to rust once and they put together an affordable and adapted 'Frankenstein' bike for me to last the season. No frills great service. I brought in my winter bike, which was rough around the edges, but it was, after all, my winter beast bike. Mr. Tattoo said the chain was loose and may interfere with shifting, and I said that it wasn't a big deal. I didn't need it in high performance condition. "I'll just fix the things that are broken for now (front brakes, front derailleur)". Then the white-haired dude saw that my fork was rusting out, I thought yeah, we should replace that. Then white-haired dude said in the most dour way possible, "No, we're not gonna work on your bike. It's for the trash." Far from it! Everything else was functioning, the frame was in decent shape, it had winter tires valued at $130 each. If you're in the neighbourhood, I recommend La Bicycletterie J.R. on Rachel instead.

We wandered into Bicycletterie JR without any reservations or anything, and within 15 minutes we were on the road. They gave us instructions for the bikes and hooked us up with locks and helmets and we were off! They were super flexible about when we returned the bikes so we didn't have to get locked into a particular time to return. The bikes were in great shape and we had a lovely afternoon. HINT: If you ride down Rue La Genesse to the Prairies River and turn north you're in a protected bike lane the whole way and then you get to bike paths and lanes that go through nature reserves, parks, and cute little neighborhoods. We did 25 miles (40km) without ever being off a bike lane or path.

I held off on a negative review for nearly a year, giving the benefit of the doubt. I purchased a Schindelhauer bike from them and the online payment system calculated purchase and shipping (great price). This was a mistake with the payment system and I called the next day and we figured out shipping. The bike arrived damaged unfortunately. I took dozens of photos and tried to submit to ups directly. Unfortunately a damage claim has to be submitted by the shipper. This involved UPS and a shipping company they use called freightcom. Velo lifestyles blamed freightcom, so I reached out to freightcom.... They blamed velo... you see where this is going. Keep in mind this is nearly a year into this! I had an unusable bike until the manufacturer actually sent me a fender to mount. I originally had tried to bend the damage away from the tire to make the bike usable. I give credit to Schindelhauer for providing the part... it really wasn't their issue. Velo put it off so long I emailed Germany and got it myself! They now claim that they no longer ship to the United States due to shipping issues. I would avoid purchasing from this company due to a shady handling of the shipping claim. They seem nice on the phone and might be a good option if you pick up in person. I can speak to my experience with them. I would avoid any business that won't support their customers or stand behind a sale.

All I know, the cafe has a bike hanging on the wall. The place took me by surprise; it is a boutique of bikes and its accessories. Plus they repair the bikes too. While you shop around for a bike, have a cup of coffee. The clerk/server was really sweet; she gave us tour of the shop and our lattes. It was bit bitter for my taste, but I was enjoying too much the place itself. We got to meet the owner, who showed his special bicycle that he used it to across Canada! Very impressive! Velorang is the new kid on the block and is hot hot hot; located conveniently right on Sherbs at Girouard next to Parc Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, the sanctum sanctorum of The Deeg. Velorang is easily appointed to fix any bike job you've got. No matter if it's an easy brake adjustment, quick tune-up, detailed tune-up, or even a major fix, the folks at Velorang know exactly what's up, they know the score, and can get your bike back to you in no time. Seriously, I took my bike in there for a tune-up at around 1PM one day a little while back, and the mechanic told me it would take a day or two. They called me back at 4:30PM the same day and told me my bike was ready to be picked up. Now, before I took that bike in, there were all sorts of problems; the gears wouldn't shift properly, the chain was all jacked up, and the brakes were loose, to enumerate a few. This bike came back perfectly brand new, spick-and-span-new as the day Marie-Crystal-de-la-Montagne was born. I thank and applaud the folks at Velorang for their professionalism and skilled workmanship.
