I cannot recommend this facility. My husband could've died there. He is clean and sober so I give them 2 stars. But as far as his physical health went, they did not provide the care he needed. He had walking pneumonia for several days when he was finally so sick that he asked them to take him to hospital. He was on IV of antibiotics for 2 and 1/2 days. There were situations that someone there should've noticed and had him seen by their 'doctor'. And, he is diabetic which was way out of control and they didn't do enough to help him get his blood sugar under control. His #s were over 300. He could've gone into diabetic coma. The case manager told me one day near end of his stay ( yes, the diabetes issue was not resolved until 3 days before his release, 60 day treatment) Anyway, the manager said they can't pick up prescriptions written by outside doctors unless approved by their 'doctor'. My husbands doctor has been treating him for diabetes 3 years now. But RIM 'doctor' knew better? While I'm hearing this unsettling news from case manager that they won't pick up his insulin, my daughter was texting me at same time that her Dad got his insulin!!!! What the heck? Do they communicate? So make sure you are very aware of the physical health of your loved one and any dietary needs and meds. I could go on about those 2 subjects as well. Not good. I did like sharing with other families supporting one another. And like I said my husband got clean there but really do your research and ask questions about healthcare, medications and diets. I've heard nothing but good things about Recovery in Motion, it may be a newer program here in Tucson, but the staff that work there have years of experience. I do not work there, have never worked there, but it bothers me when people make snap decisions and type in ideas, not facts. It can hurt not only the program, but also the participants. My experience at RIM was good considering the back story as to why I was there. Although there were things I didn't agree with in regards to the treatment here, it was my first (and hopefully last) experience with treatment and do not know how other treatment facilities are ran. I was treated fairly my entire stay in treatment, and never once felt that my recovery did not come first in management eyes. All-in-all, I believe my stay at RIM was instrumental in my recovery and a good start to a better and meaningful life. read more

Just left there on March 16th, 2021. I was using heroin, meth and pretty much every other drug so one of my first questions was about their detox. Michael completely stretched the truth about their detox program. The detox is NOT an actual detox. Unless you don't mind barely eating, being forced to wake up at 5am every single day, and a clumsy staff that knows NOTHING about medical detox except that most of them have been through some sort of detox. Michael is absolutely a car salesman and failed to mention that the detox is really just a building where you can watch Netflix. Their on-call doctor is useless. If you're the kind of person who needs to be CONSTANTLY busy in the first days of detox you will love it. I, however, was coming off of IV heroin and meth use and just really needed to eat and sleep. Two things you definitely do not get to do much of in their "detox" The actual program once you're done with detox is just as busy. Expected to be awake by 530am everyday, two AA/NA meetings a day, constant cleaning, no time to cook healthy meals, inconsistent staff and rules. I would skip this one if you're looking for a physically comfortable recovery. Being warm, well-fed, and getting enough sleep are huge for me as I've been on the streets. Being at Recovery in Motion was almost as hectic as being on the streets except I ate less and felt even more out of control because they hardly ever let you use the phone. In fact they require you to get a sponsor in the first 7 days or you will NOT be allowed to use the phones. At all. Plus the staff all seem terrified of their boss Joe. It's bizarre. Skip this one for sure. Even ARC was better than this program and that's saying a lot. read more

The staff were awesome, the facility made you feel comfortable while you were adjusting to your new life, the food was endless, and the recovery was hands down the best treatment around. Do not send your loved ones here! Food program here is ridiculous. You cook your own food, which is not the problem. They are supposed to provide the food. They haphazardly provide very little, extremely low grade food. Im sure they bill the insurance companies as if they had a food service provided. Amounts to insurance fraud. Poorly managed place that need new leadership. No follow up and excuses. The rest of the staff trys to provide a reasonable experience, but leadership prevents any improvement. read more

This is probably the worst place on the planet that you could send a loved one. It's a miserable little dump first of all. Secondly, there's no medical attention. Zero at the housing units. They kept asking me if I was still supposed to be on a blood pressure med. I took it for like 20 days....turns out I was supposed to be on it 3 days. The medical assistant who can't even hand you the meds, you have to take them out of the bottle, messed mine up and shorted a pill. Then there wasn't a benzo taper for 5 days...very dangerous. This place is truly garbage. The schedule is downright miserable. There's zero time to cook all your own food and eat. You have to clean their apartments daily, and for a few hours every Sunday. Don't believe the thorough medical detox marketing they cram down your throat. Don't believe all the "oooh we do this fun stuff on the weekend....even shopping, wow!" first of all if you go shopping with them to target, they keep you in a group and yell at everyone, stay in this section, (way too loudly) then we'll move on to, say, hygiene. You completely feel like a group of special needs people, not that there's something wrong with that, but if you're not, it's pretty damn embarrassing. You wake up...I don't know they keep changing it from the reports I get, but somewhere around 5:20, and your dragged all over Tuscon all day long. You don't get the phone for the first 8 days your there. If you do anything wrong, like at all, they take your phone so you can't even communicate to people at home and let them know what a miserable place this is. Staff hits on clients, there are drugs in there...for sure. When I was there, and people I've privately talked to since. I'll forever stay on top of this "business" and see if they ever change. they want your money, that's it. Their PHP program (pre-hospitalization-program) (supposed to be their highest level .... you watch netflix, comedians and take walks. I'm guessing their staff doesn't have anything to teach, so they just pretend like lets just have fun this time...but not when it's every time...you think you'd get some education. If you need to just get off the street for a bit and be miserable as hell...go there. I'd not go there again if they paid me double their ridiculous fee for that place. Triple even. Maybe quadruple since I'm clean and healthy now. but that's because I could go through their version of hell, while not in my own version. They break HIPAA laws. l personally witnessed many clients being gossiped about to other clients, including myself. When I left early, the person that let me stay with them...their mother also said, oh you're the guy from near dc...Michael was telling me a story about the guy he picked up that came from DC area, and gave all these details to her... He's a used car salesman....don't listen to his bs. Find a proper spot. There's a ton of terrible gossip that literally make people leave. So many people left, that by the day I left, with another client, and my good friend left days before...they only had 6 people in that place. It's also in the worst neighborhood...sirens ALL NIGHT EVERY NIGHT, and helicopters. It's like an hour from Mexico, the streets are flooded with drugs. There's a ton of meth there and black tar heroin. people get it at meetings when they meet their local friends, or just hop the wall at night and grab some. And other than the mountain you can see over the concrete wall surrounding the place....It's hideous. Staff makes fun of you...I literally can go on forever. I write these reviews, like I've written one on Facebook and Google, because that JUST how bad this place actually was and people need to know the truth. And I was extremely serious about getting clean, and I did...after I left that horrifying place. I've been one other place, and the comparison could only be good vs evil or heaven vs hell...both times I was heavily detoxing, so don't think I'm just a complainer. Both times I was dead serious about it. This place is just the worst. I cannot imagine how a bunch of so called adults can't create a better schedule. It just wears your down. If you miss your important medication by like 1 minute, you don't get it. Ridiculous. The other place I went to had three actual nurses at all times, not just a medical assistant like RIM...and she wasn't even at the housing unit...only at the office during the day. But the other place had 3 real nurses all the time, and you could go to the nurse if you were feeling bad and actually get medical attention. I cant say enough about working at RIM. I have worked in many treatment centers over the years, and this is the first one that really does care about the clients and proves it by going above and beyond for those who are willing to follow the rules and work hard. Sadly, some addicts leave treatment and then place negative reviews, but the majority thrive here because of our supportive yet challenging program. The work is tough, the support is sincere, the cost is affordable. As a staff member I am treated with respect, more so than any place I've worked. The owner works as hard as anyone else to make sure everyone is getting the most they can out of the program. My peers are dedicated professionals that give 100% to their job which they take very seriously. We all want to see clients succeed. Just wanted to share my experience. read more

I give RIM 3 stars instead of 5 because while my addicted son was in their care they made a couple major mistakes! Ones they chalked up as a "learning experience" well learning at our expense was no fun! They broke the confidentiality rule! They broke the Hippa Law! And told my son after 2 months of recovery upon leaving that they wouldn't trust our family with their dog! Meanwhile the program worked really well for our son and us as a family too. We dove right in head first and worked this program to its fullest potential. To have been their experiment so to speak was not professional. They do have a great counselor that runs the program. The personal Counselors are great! The life coaches are great too! However the family counselor can be very lazy! With an eating disorder! All in all, I'm glad he went here. We have a sober son back that is determined to stay that way. My only wish is that they iron out all the kinks they need to iron and quit practicing on the families! Update: since my son left RIM. We lost him 2 months later. He went in a Meth Addict and as soon as he got out he hooked up with all the people that was in treatment with him. They became buddies and were not a good support system for each other! A few that I know for sure relapsed right away as my son did. However, he decided to try Heroine for the first time since that was the thing to do in Tucson and he immediately got hooked up by his RIM buddies. He died of an overdose July 5th 2016. Our hearts are broken and they got our 17,000 dollars. read more

I checked into RIM in April 2017. April Fool's Day, how ironic. I have thought long about what I want to say given some of the things I've read that don't do any justice to this facility of healing. I am addicted to alcohol. The process at RIM helped give me my life back. The reality is that any addiction is an ugly disease that puts all family, friends and loved ones through the worst and there is no easy way out. If there was, many of us would not choose to go through trying to get sober or clean by choosing to enter a facility and would do it on our own. That is just not how it works. There are many reasons that we become addicted. Through RIM, I learned skills and was exposed to people in our community genuinely interested in my successful recovery. I recently spent the holidays with my grandsons and lived the holidays rather than just surviving them. I have the staff and friends I made at RIM to thank for that change in my life. I found a sponsor that has worked with me beyond the time I spent at RIM and I think that most people looking for this help have to consider that it is a process and we don't always achieve perfection. Drama and politics or who you associate with outside of RIM is the choice of the individual and the statistics are overwhelmingly not in the favor of an addict but I will be forever grateful that RIM was there for me when I needed them. It troubles me to read the reviews of loved ones who have not seen the results they seek, but the reality is that success lies in the individual's willingness to accept and embrace the help offered by a staff that truly gets what is at stake. I appreciate each and everyone of them that helped me in my recovery. My only criticism is that they need a local, full time doctor available on staff when offering detox services. Do not overlook this facility when considering your options but be realistic about your expectations. If you think that you have a loved one facing something outrageous at RIM, consider codependence counseling for yourself because you may be part of the problem. I asked myself what the price of my life is worth and frankly, I'd pay it ten times over for the support that I have received inside and outside through their contacts at RIM. Did I hate structure, who wouldn't when you are used to a life of answering to know one but now I answer to for your choices and actions. You think your loved one is going through hell, there is a lot to be said for structure and boundaries. I truly appreciate what I have now and only hope I am as thankful next year. I would go back again if I need it in a heartbeat cause I know they are people that I can count on for long beyond my stay with them. read more

Very disappointed in this program. As a parent who paid out of pocket for my daughter's treatment and a professional in the field, I have to say the program is not up to par. They provide inconsistent information and are attentive when they're charging your credit card. But when the addiction begins to struggle they're quick to get rid of them. Very ineffective and definitely NOT a dual diagnosis facility. They dropped off my 23 y/o daughter at a homeless shelter for running late to groups and breaking rules, but the program sets them up for failure from the start. Every addict breaks rules and struggles at the beginning! That's why they need treatment. After dropping her off at a shelter, which they didn't even check to see if they had bed space, my daughter became homeless due to there not being space at the shelter. Unfortunately she got caught up with the wrong people in the area and overdosed. Thank god I was able to get her out of the situation and into another treatment program. But not only did I waste my money I almost lost my kid. This program needs a major overhaul, and they definitely don't treat mental illness. read more

My experience at RIM saved my life. When I arrived I was so sick, so desperate, and so ready to give up. I didn't know what to expect because this was my first experience at an inpatient treatment center. When Lindsey picked me up from the airport she immediately calmed my nerves. She's so relatable and was such an inspiration to me. My first week was absolute hell and without Patrick I don't know how I would have endured the detox. He was patient, kind, understanding, and funny! Val and Craig helped me see that there was a future for me beyond my addiction. Christy became like a second mom to me and I felt so safe and secure with her. I love that every employee at RIM is in recovery because that's what made me feel that a future outside addiction was actually tangible. I miss RIM every day and I will never forget the relationships I built, the tools I acquired, and the coping mechanisms I gained that have now replaced my drinking and drug use. I was recently a client at RIM and I feel its my obligation to warn others about this place. I was encouraged to stay for a 90 day program but I left a few days shy of the 90 day mark. There are several problems with RIM and I listed a few. To start I had my HIPAA writes violated several times both as a client and after leaving the treatment center. Personal information of mine or about my treatment plan was discussed with individuals that had no connection to RIM. There were also times were something would be said during a group therapy session and RIM went and told a third party who was not an employee nor had I signed a ROI for. Clients have to use the house phone in front of housing staff and a handful of those staff members would then go talk about your personal information with other clients. These are just a few of the ways my privacy rights were violated. This facility will tell you whatever they have to, to get you in the door. For example we were told I would have a safe medical detox with medical care/supervision on site. This is such a far stretch from the truth that its an unsafe lie. There is a doctor at the clinic every Tuesday but clients spend most of their time at the housing location which there is no medical personnel at. The housing staff consists of CPR certified babysitters who have no medical education. During the duration of my stay I witnessed several occasions were clients had real medical issues arise and it was unsafe. It is also unsafe how they kick clients during off hours like 1am without their cell phones, medication or money. They do not give clients a ride to a safe location or even call their family members to come get them. They have clients pack a bag but refuse to give them their cell phones, medication or money and literally leave them outside the housing location on the street. This is incredibly unsafe for several reasons. One reason is that most clients are not from Arizona so they have no support here but they also do not know their way around or know what areas are dangerous. Also, most people are started on medication shortly after getting to RIM. I'm not talking about subs to help with detoxing but serious anti-psychotics that are incredibly dangerous to just stop taking. It should be illegal to start a patient on these kinds of meds and then kick them out without any of their important belongings (or a means to call for help) and at the same time abruptly cut them off medication which can make them suicidal. Any healthcare facility that does this as part of its policy is obviously a FOR profit organization that does not genuinely care about the well being of its clients. One last thing I would like to add is that there has been employees sleeping with clients. Every addict and their family needs help and if you are reading this I hope you find a treatment center that can help you. These are some of the problems I witnessed with RIM and I would advise anyone looking into this place to look somewhere else. Good luck and I hope this helps. read more

first of all, if i didn't have to give it one star, i would rate it a 0!! after an expensive intervention, my son opted to go to recovery in motion in tucson, az...very costly also without insurance and no breaks if you pay cash! so, i read this on their website and believe it would be a good choice because my son is an addict, but also has a dual diagnosis...he has severe psychosis and major, recurrent depression! this is what they "proclaim" on their website: offering quality care at affordable prices, recovery in motion provides a structured, caring, community-centered environment to facilitate lasting recovery. located in tucson, arizona, recovery in motion treatment center offers a full-service, dual diagnosis program in a real life setting, optimizing our client's stay in the most holistic and relevant of ways. many people who suffer from an addictive disorder have other mitigating factors that can impede a person's progress in treatment. our clinically driven, dual diagnosis program offers our clients the optimum opportunity for recovery by assessing potential mental health issues that may be present while assisting them with concrete skills to thrive in life. our goal is that each client be prepared for a more fulfilling, sustainable life in recovery at an affordable price. not true! my son left after 28 days and slept by dumpsters, no food and no hygiene. what happened to the dual diagnosis program?? they said my son was "defiant" and wouldn't participate...did you not remember me telling you he was diagnosed with psychosis? he doesn't talk!!! you don't let someone that's sick roam the streets and say it's because he doesn't want to be there and wants to do drugs! your "therapists, counselors, etc." should have been working with the psychosis illness as well. very upset and disappointed...this cost me more money than i have and now i'm in debt for nothing! read more

I recently completed treatment at RIM and cannot say enough great things about the place. This has honesty been one of the best experiences in my life both for me but my family as well. The staff are warm and welcoming from the start. The lady that picked me up at the airport was so nice, and comforting. She answered my questions and assured me that while I might be feeling scared, I was in the right place. I've seen some reviews where people are bashing the medical staff, but that's so wrong. The medical staff worked hard to get my detox meds quickly. They explained the process from the start. I knew I would have to start kicking opiates before I could be given the subs, but once that started, they made sure I got my meds quickly. The doctor helped me with my anxiety and I finally felt stabilized. My therapist and life coach were amazing. They helped me really see what was going on inside myself. My life coach helped me make a really solid discharge plan and when I completed felt like I really had a chance this time. The family liaison went above to help me communicate with my family. The family workshop was a turning point in my treatment, both myself and my family are so happy we can finally talk about things. All of the staff at RIM, from the director down to the night shift support staff worked to make sure my needs were met and that I had all the tools needed to recover. I would absolutely recommend this program to anyone who is looking for a place to really get clean and sober. read more
