First thing's first: OTF's overall exercise program design is great. The workouts are varied,…read morethey're challenging, and they have pushed me beyond what I thought I could do. I have found this to be consistent across all OTF locations because we are, typically, all doing the same thing on any given day.
More important for this review: the Orange location of OTF is the best gym I have been to by far. Ever. It is, firstly, very large compared to the other handful of OTFs I've tried--which, when it's time for traveling squats or burpees, makes a huge difference. It is also always clean and cool, which is much appreciated.
The coaches I've worked with at the Orange OTF are all, as a rule, friendly, helpful, and clear. They'll cheer you on, bring you heavier weights when you're goosing it and, if you request, push you during workouts. They remember your name and what you're up to. And they make classes fun, cultivating a community of encouragement and friendly competition with yourself. The other locations I've been to had nice enough coaches, but the Orange location stands apart in how much they strive to maintain an engaging and engaged class culture.
The same is absolutely true of the front staff, who are all excellent at their jobs. Kate does such fantastic work keeping the social media up-to-date with important dates and upcoming challenges, and she is always a welcoming and friendly face. And the rest of the front desk squad--Logan, Sal, Lindsay, Bella--are all likewise ready to greet you when you arrive, walk you through your first time, or make jokes about how we don't want to do the 1,000m row benchmark.
If you're looking for workouts where you will be challenged and have fun, any OTF gym can meet that need.
But, if you want to also be a part of a community of folks who will cheer you on, encourage you, and also make eye contact and commiserate when there's still yet another damn 500m row to go, the Orange location is the place to be :)
