The measurements for the orthotics were done on the representative's phone in 3D and uploaded to the manufacturer right away. The back office staff at Tillges worked with my insurance to get orthotics and diabetic shoes covered for me and called to set up an appointment back at the Specialty Center again in two weeks. The staff said, "We will call you if we need to cancel the appointment because of a delay." I showed up to the agreed upon appointment and the appointment had been canceled without informing me of the cancellation. I arranged a second appointment a week later to pick up both shoes and orthotics one week later to allow the necessary time. I called the main office the day before to confirm the appointment and shoes/orthotics will be there for me but the representative only had the orthotics but not shoes! So a third appointment is scheduled for me to pick up the shoes. The customer care for Tillges has much to be desired. I recommend that everyone stay well clear of Tillges for their needs. This company has been the worst service I have experienced in many years of medical appointments.

Then I had also bought the maintainer to fit into my tennis shoes (I play very competitive tennis) and once the maintainers were broke in, I now feel faster on the court, and can excellerate faster and also feel like I can stop and change direction faster also. Now, I had always worn the soles of my shoes in uneven places meaning that I had a foot issue - now since working out on the treadmill - I feel that my walking stride is somewhat more corrected - meaning the arches have helped realign my foot bones. I feel a much straighter walk now. I didn't go to the Good Feet Store because I was having severe foot problems (If you do have severe foot problems - don't wait) I went to the store because I was curious and just wanted to see what custom arch supports were all about.... and I trusted Andy and walked out with the excerciser supports, and the maintainer supports, and I feel much better physically now. Sure they are kind of expensive however, they will do you wonders - and they also last up to 10 years so actually not that expensive. The custom fitting was superb - I recommend highly!

I came to this conclusion because 1) their web site is a single page in the St. Croix Ortho web site, and 2) their office is in the same building as the St. Croix Ortho clinic in Stillwater. So it's not surprise that when my doc said I needed to get a post-op knee brace before my surgery that he recommended The Brace Place. It was only a few days (maybe a week) before my surgery, so I didn't have time to shop around and had no idea where to start. I feel like he should have disclosed the face that they owned it. With that said, however, I'm pretty happy with the shop. There is one main guy that runs the place and he usually has an assistant in the office with him. I've been there three or four different times and each time there is a different assistant. But all of them knew their stuff. They were able to answer my questions, were very friendly, and never talked down to me. The main guy is a bit grumpy when you talk to him over the phone, but when you get him talking about what he really knows (braces), he gets friendlier. I wanted to go in to get an adjustment on a brace and didn't want to make an official appointment because I knew it would only take a few minutes. When I called, he complained how busy he was, but he would see if he could help. It was around the Holidays, so he didn't have help and when I got there, I had to wait 15 minutes before he showed up. But he was very helpful once I saw him and got the brace adjusted. It turned out I was putting it on wrong, but he wasn't condescending or impatient about it. Overall, I would recommend The Brace Place for any of your medical bracing needs. You can get basic braces for limbs and joints off the Internet for cheaper, but if you need a "professional" one for surgery or active sports, I wouldn't shy away from recommending them.

I saw John F. again today, and I have had more positive gains in three visits with John than with…read moreany other prosthetist. Last week John gave me a soft outer sleeve on my left "leg" to replace a very tight top on my former outer sleeve, and that "fix" made donning and doffing my left prosthetic leg SO MUCH easier !!! Today I got the same type of soft outer sleeve on my right prosthesis. Then John just listened to my complaints and radical hypotheses about how hard it is for me to get into and out of our car. My right knee has been replaced, and bends to almost 130 degrees. However, my left leg has about 30 degrees of range of motion and makes it hard to get into and out of our car. Hypothesis #1 - What if he gave me size 13 -vs - size 15 feet? That would take about an inch from the front of my shoes and this make it easier for me to get into and out of the car. Hypothesis #2 - What he took an inch off the pylon in my prosthetic legs - that also would make it easier for me to get into and out of the car. Then John took my left leg and said he would return shortly. He returned five minutes later and said, "That leg is 1-1/8 inch shorter than before." John then disappeared with my right leg, returning with a grin from ear to ear. I have had multiple small sections removed from my prostheses over the eleven years I have had them, so I am no longer six feet and 1-1/2 inches tall. It does not matter to me any more. Convenience is what matters at 78-3/4 years of age. Thanks, John, for being able to see that the "box" is just a construct used to describe a problem space. I appreciate our 90 minutes together today, and am very happy to be able to leave a great review for a creative, problem-solving prosthetist.

Warning: lengthy review ahead. Excellent experiences deserve recognition!…read more First impression: Tammy at the front dest was very kind and professional. Due to covid measures in place, they are doing very well with maintaining cleanliness. Tammy wiped the mock pen and signature pad off for me to ensure it was sanitary. I informed her I only used the pen to sign and she immediately wiped off the pad and pen in preparation for the next guest. They escort you into a room immediately to avoid congestion in the common area, all the seats in the waiting room have been removed to promote this. Provider/fitting: John F was the CPO that was assigned to check out my feet. My first visit involved sizing up my foot, getting measurements, having me walk to see how my feet touch the ground, then placing them in this soft foam to get an impression of my feet. This is to help get the real shape of my foot to make the inserts. He pulled out a catalog and went over shoe choices with me. He was very knowledgeable on which shoes would best match me. He would point to a pair as a possibility then debate on whether or not it would be a good fit. It didn't take long and we both agreed on a pair of NB (New Balance) that were also visually pleasing. I was informed it would take a few weeks to receive. Pick up: Less than a month later I received a call to come in and pick up my treasured items! I received an appointment relatively quickly and it was about a month from the initial appointment to pick up. Once again proper COVID measures were in place, Tammy remembered me from the first visit and escorted me into the room right away. John F and Georgann (I hope I spelled that correctly) came into the room with a shoe box in hand. He explained the inserts, what to do to break in my shoes to not overwhelm my feet, then helped me put them on. (I really liked the blue tool used on the heel to assist the foot into the shoe.) I walked the catwalk to test them out and was satisfied with the feel. I asked Georgann if she'd like to see my feet to get an idea of why I was there, and John explained parts of my feet to her while patiently answering my questions on what they look for. I was impressed at how professional he was explaining my feet without making me feel insecure or bad about them. On my way out I sanitized my hands and Tammy hit the button so the door opens automatically therefore avoiding contact with the door. Overall impression: I highly recommend coming here if you're in need of prosthetics or orthotics. Long review? Yes. I want others to know what a great experience I had and how painless the process is for those that are hesitant to make an appointment. Location: This is located right next to Mercy Hospital off of Coon Rapids Blvd NW on the corner near the main road. The parking lot has plenty of parking and the front row is for patients of that building only. Once inside the building head straight back and it will be the door at the end of the hallway.
