Unbelievably they charged me for not attending the class, when the class was already paid. I do not think this was fair. They just lost a client. I do not think they could care less because I called and asked about the situation and the lady that answered the phone told me she was going to called me back and I NEVER received a call back. I would not recommend a place where they do not care about you (the client), they just think about themselves. They are their number one and only priority.

I was wearing yoga pants and a t-shirt. There was little guidance or monitoring from the instructor, as she stayed in the kitchen area (an old home), which was quite far from some of the reformers. In introductory classes, the instructor should demonstrate breathing techniques and how the form should look. I emailed them, and they called me back to address my issues. The instructor said she did not mean to come across as rude when she asked about my clothing; she thought I was wearing scrubs. She also acknowledged that she should be more evenly focused on the class. In my first class, we started on jump boards, and I did not see enough instruction overall. I appreciate the call, but I do not want to hurt my body by going to a Pilates class that felt unsupervised. The music was great, and I appreciated the aesthetics. If you like more boot camp classes, it feels like that inside.

I am way overdue for reviewing Hotworx-Pearland…read more This is my regular/daily workout since Cyclebar Pearland closed. Infrared Heat Benefits At first I was resistant to the hot sauna aspect of the workout since you already get hot during a workout and I'm already a sweaty lady but now I absolutely love the infrared heat! It really does flush out toxins, is great for your skin, reduces/eliminates soreness that can come with a workout, also relieves pain and stress. I always come out of my workouts feeling great! It's perfect after a long days work, to kick off your day or for a midday pick me up. Workout Sessions I love the variety of workouts which makes for great cross training. The workouts are a variety of HIIT/cardio and isometric/floor exercises. Since they're hot (it's recommended the workouts be in the 120 degree range for optimal effectiveness), the HIIT workout sessions (cycle, blast/elliptical-ish bike, rowing) are only 15 minutes long and they are a little more challenging than a longer workout since they're shorter. The iso's (yoga, stretch, Pilates, core, bands, Barre, buns) are 45 min . I typically do a 45min - 1.5 hr workout combo of the different sessions or a quick 30 min if I'm low on time or energy. The saunas There are about 7 different hot sauna rooms that play on demand virtually instructed videos that run every 15 minutes (HIIT workouts) and every 45 minutes (Isometric workouts). Supplies You're given a mat and towel with your membership, that are specifically designed for the hot sauna and it is the only mat that will work with the saunas' heat. Cost Hotworx is very reasonably priced at $59/mo for one studio location or $79/mo to workout at all Hotworx location, which is nice bc they have locations EVERYWHERE so it is a great way to keep up with your workout if you go out of town. You also get a month free, if you get to 25,000 calories burned within a 3 month period which is tracked through their app.Its very easy to rack up 25,000 if you're going regularly. Booking thru the app You reserve your workouts through the app, which is nice bc you can see if anyone else has also booked a sauna during a particular time. Although, you're welcome to use a sauna without booking if a spot is available. Each sauna holds 3 people. Staff The staff is great and super friendly. I love that they always run to open the front door for everyone. It's especially helpful when I'm struggling, trying to hold my mat, water, towel etc. Side note, you have to use the Hotworx app to buzz yourself in at the entrance. So if you don't have a membership, you can't get into Hotworx outside of regular business hours. Cancelling The only negative about Hotworx is it's one of those places where you have to provide a 30-day written notice to cancel. Luckily for me I don't have any plans to cancel anytime soon.

My workout routine has been in a rut for a long time, so I thought trying something new would…read moreeither be the motivation I needed or make me run back to what I was doing! I saw an ad online for a free workout. I shared my info and received a text and email to complete registration for the free workout. Nothing major- just my name, contact info and the type of workout I wanted to do for my session. I decided to do a full body workout which was called the Hot Iso. What's unique about these workouts is that they all occur in an infrared sauna. Each pod has space for three people. As a first timer, however, I was given the space to myself. A few things to keep in mind-no shoes in the saunas, you are to wipe your mat down upon finishing the workout, you can control the temp and volume of the workout which is lead by a virtual trainer and the workouts are only 30 minutes! The sauna and the workouts are suppose to provide optimum benefits with less time working out. That is a win. I also liked that the workout provides 3 ways the modify each exercise led by the instructor. However, I could see during peak times when you may have to share space that maybe there's someone who desires a less than hot sauna or maybe needs the volume louder during the workout. Could be problematic...but as my guide shared, non peak times will give you the most space and choices to workout. You may also decide you want to try out several different workouts during your visit. That's fine. Just as long as you sign up for the class. People can sign up for classes up until the last minute before the class starts, so just be aware. You may be wondering how this place compares to a typical gym. They actually have a free weight area that also have virtual trainers to lead random exercises with you. A stretch area is also included in the small space. Two restroooms are apart of the gym. One with a shower in fact, but you'd have to use the restroom as the dressing room because this space only has cubbies and small lockers for possessions. That maybe a deal breaker for someone who would come workout before work and runs the risk of several people needing to shower after working out. Most likely, most do not and probably live close to this location, thus running home to get a shower and dress for work. What is great is the 24 hour access to the gym Guests of members can only come inside when staff are present. This particular aspect reminds me when I use to be a member of Snap Fitness. My swipe card allowed me access anytime of tthe day but certain violations would cause penalties or cancelation of membership. I'm sure this place is monitored closely but the distance for me was too great for me to become a member. However, for anyone right in the neighborhood looking to try something new, HOTWORXS is worth a try!

Here is the honest review of Hotworx…read more The workout concept itself is actually great. The sauna-based workouts can be effective and enjoyable if that's all you're looking for. However, if you're considering the Manvel, Texas location, you should know that the strength training and weightlifting options are extremely limited. The space is very small and there is very little equipment available. If lifting weights or doing strength training is part of your routine, this location will likely be frustrating. I even requested additional equipment that would improve the space and never received any follow-up. The biggest issue, though, is the membership and cancellation process, which appears to be franchise-wide. First, they require you to cancel in person -- in 2026. That is incredibly unreasonable when most services allow cancellation online or over the phone. Second, if you freeze your membership, there is no notification when it's about to be unfrozen. They simply start charging your card again. And to make matters worse, canceling your membership can cost more than the monthly membership itself. So while the sauna workout concept is solid, the policies and lack of equipment at the Manvel location make the experience frustrating. Because the hassle might just not be worth it. It wasn't for us, and I'm seriously regretting it.

She really explained each workout thoroughly and helped me with my form/balance on some of the exercises. I really liked that everyone was very inviting and the space is kept clean and organized. This class was for all levels and you can change the weights on the reformer if you would like to have more of a challenge during your workout. Since it was my first time, I kept the recommended weight and I feel like some workouts were more difficult to do than others. I think this class was a good workout to do to stay active! I get the hype of pilates now and might try it again sometime! The only con of this place is unfortunately the parking but that's with most places in Houston. The parking lot is shared with multiple businesses that reserve their spots only for their shop. There is parking that is not reserved for anything but the spots are very tight. There is also parking on the side of Defy but it is a little tricky in finding out how to get to the spot. I was able to find a spot in the parking lot but my friend had to park on the side. When I checked in, the ladies at the front were able to give me directions for my friend so that she can find how to get to the parking so just ask beforehand! Overall, my friend and I really enjoyed our experience and will definitely add pilates into our workout rotation! Thank you so much Hannah and Defy for a great experience (:

I have been going to PB for almost 3 years and I'm obsessed. PB provides up to 5 different classes for you to strengthen your body using different techniques and equipment based the goal each class has. For example, empower is a high intensity workout with some cardio infused into it while classic includes the basic techniques of a workout without any cardio. PB is seriously one of the best things I could have done for myself and I feel like if you have tried the gym, hot yoga, OTF, etc and it didn't work for you...then try it here! The instructors are incredible, the ladies you meet along the way become family, and let's not forget about the results you get from working out! If I had one recommendation is to go consistently to see results. When I first started I went 3x a week and slowly progressed into 5 days after 6 months. I have gained muscle in areas I didn't know was possible, toned up, dropped weight, gained confidence, and never felt this good before. Now PB isn't the end all be all, I still have to be conscious of the food I eat but this definitely helps me achieve my goal of what I want to look/feel like! Hope to see you there!
