I saw Dr. Matheson today for knee pain ( arthritis in my knees). I quite liked her, she smiled, did an examination and explained everything as she went. she chose a medication that was expensive but seemed to do the trick for me. how long it will last I don't know and am not sure I could afford too many treatments. she was very pleasant and has made a phone appointment with me for six weeks. I am very happy I got in to see her. my knees feel better. she did not recommend surgery at this time. apparently you cannot book in the future when you are doing pretty well today . thank you Dr. Mathis for giving me so much of your time today I felt good about seeing you . I have now had two separate injuries that I ended up at rebalance for. The time it was for my shoulder, I waited almost to years to see Dr Zorzor to get surgery on it. Then finally I get to see him, he walks in the room says hes not going to do surgery on it, I say so you are telling me I won't be able to work? Im right handed and my shoulder was keeping me from being able to do much. He said i didn't say that and left the room. ( I did get surgery but needed to go to the mainland) Then recently I saw Dr DuPreez who put a bunch of incorrect information on his report, stating I said the opposite of what i told him. If you are young, thin, healthy and got injured before covid they won't give a S^%&. I injured myself in multiple places, have cartilage injury in my ankle, and I seen someone for the bursitis in my shoulder. They just got paid by the government to read notes from the MRI or XRAY because they dont even do it themselves. Its been 4 years of pain and limited mobility. I asked to look into it futher and it was like pulling teeth. "Well i'm not sure what else I could offer you?" I said back "Oh really, you tried nothing and already out of ideas?" All the guidelines I have read stated that surgical intervention is necessary for quality of life if there are symptoms and physio has not made a different ( I had to find one myself because none was really set up for me) and other non surgical treatments fail. The physio was probably not successful because if the doc collaborated with me then maybe it would have been successful and I paid for it out of pocket. I wasnt even given non surgical treatement offers at all, no cortison injections, no physio specialist, no orthodics... nothing. I got a private doctor and guess what...I have a check in after 3 months, then shots, then surgery if that all fails. They didnt even offer the minimum. I said on the phone, looks like canada public care is for old people and triage. so you gonna wait til im 50 to get a hip replacement next. Quality of life is not a priority. This not a place of healing. This is a business. The surgeon did not even look at my knee or leg. I guess he got all the information he needed from the blurry shadow on the MRI. Gave me a brochure for full knee replacement surgery and said he would do his best work. I waited 6 months and drove an hour to victoria for a 5 minute sales pitch. I am in my 40s and it has been a few months since my visit and with a bit of gentle work (yoga, hip-opening, strengthening the leg) I barely notice the tear in my ACL. Terrifying to think if I was more naive I might have lost my entire knee. read more

I waited almost a year to see this doctor. I had read all her reviews so had no expectations. I found her on the cold side and she made me feel like the back/neck pain I have been experiencing was minimal and comes with age. She told me just to take Tylenol and maybe a muscle relaxant which I have been for the past year. They haven't helped with the pain. Trust me, I am 53 and most of my friends do not suffer from the chronic back pain I have had. I left feeling deflated and had a good cry. read more

I waited 2 years to get into this clinic under a doctors referral, the doctor just kept on talking and would not allow me to express how bad the pain is and how debilitating it is. I can barely walk two blocks. She suggested a pain clinic in the hospital to teach me how to deal with my pain, BUT not until my mental health improves, but my pain is a huge part of my mental health. Total waste of time, now in more pain after exam and mental health.... well I'm so low I just don't know what to do next. Thanks for nothing! I was so excited to finally be getting in to see a physiotherapist after waiting so long and was quickly made aware that this was not going to be help I was so hopeful for. I saw Dr. Galimova and I have never in my life encountered such a rude, unprofessional, uncaring medical professional in my life. She cut me off as I was trying to answer her questions, she discounted many diagnosis I'd been given by other professionals (one being a specialist I had just seen a few days earlier) and on top of that she kept saying she was in a rush and didn't have time to explain anything to me. I literally almost started crying at one point because she was being so straight up mean. I can't understand why someone like her would ever go into a profession that is meant to focus on caring for people as she clearly has zero intention on actually helping anyone. In the end she offered me zero help or explanation aside from the fact that if I've had pain for a long time it will likely only get worse and that I should have an x-ray of my spine every 2 years to watch for my scoliosis worsening. She also said if I wanted to come back for free (cause it's covered by my medical) IMS I could but she didn't know if it would help at all. I have considered IMS and will look more into it but I'd rather go somewhere else and pay out of pocket than ever go back to that place. I have seen every kind of professional you can think of seeking help for my pain and while I may not have found any solid cure yet I at least was made to feel cared for and offered help. Dr. Galimova should not be practicing in my opinion and I will be following up with MSP as well as the College of Physicians and Surgeons and my own GP to alert them as I don't think a penny of our government funded medical coverage should ever be given to this woman. As to the clinic itself, it's a gong show in there. No personal interactions at all and really it's just chaos. I'd rather deal with a hospital emergency room on Halloween night than Rebalance :/ Note: I just looked Dr. Galimova up on the RateMDs website ... if you are thinking of seeing her I suggest you look up the reviews prior to doing so. I came in to see Dr.Mathes in January- she seemed transfixed on the fact that I had filled out the questionnaire and was bipolar but not on meds. She basically asked me questions regarding my mental health only and then gave me an odd exam where she was sitting on my legs and my knee at one point with her bodyweight which was uncomfortable and cringey. We scheduled an MRI which she wrote the wrong knee down for imaging. I am on PWD and do not have a phone so to sit at the welfare office to get a travel voucher(day pass) to get to this appt is hard enough but now without having a phone i have to call victoria general hospital on my own. so i get 50 cents and go to the bay centre to use the payphones to correct a mistake that shouldn't of happened in thew first place. So finally my appt is scheduled for mri follow up on April 23rd- again to get the travel voucher thru welfare I have to basically camp out at the office to get a day pass- i did this step and was all set to leave for the am and i get an email saying IMPORTANT CHANGES TO YOUR APPT- NO APOLOGY AT ALL, JUST AN EMAIL SAYING WE HAVE GIVEN YOU NO CHOICE IN THE MATTER BUT HAVE RESCHEDULED YOU FOR APRL 25TH AT 230PM. i am beside myself at this point over the unprofessionalism of this dr again, not only do i have 2 appt's with our place and a home visit from community support workers- i was trying to accomplish tasks. the set back this had on me was profound, i called to express my annoyance and ofc with this zoo of an office u get voicemail- i tell them how completely unprofessional this is and that i NOW HAVE TO CAMP OUT AGAIN FOR 6 HRS AT THE WELFARE OFFICE FOR A NEW DAY PASS.ofc no apologies. I show up to this appt today, and i wasn't in a great mood, this dr had messed my week up so badly and basically hadn't even given me an exam. I get there and deal with this hot mess of a receptionist or office mgr who said dr mathes had a family emergency and thats why they emailed with less than 4 hrs to my appt. the mgr then explained because i didn't have a phone they had to email, I asked WHAT HE DIFFERENCE WOULD OF BEEN IF I HAD A PHONE? SHE SAID THEY WOULD OF CALLED INSTEAD OF EMAILED, LOL EITHER WAY LESS THAN 4 HRS NOTICE. dealing with myopic self absorbed ppl like this is not my strong suit, she told me to mention it to the dr when i went in, i said i would. I got called in Dr.mathes slunk into the room and immediately said i swore at her staff? I said I am pretty sure I did not swear at your staff ever! Dr.Mathes then claimed to hear me on an answering machine. I didn't know that an answering machine was staff? Such delicate sensibilities that you rearrange everyone's day to suit yourself. I said I wasn't expecting to get anywhere anyway with her and got up to leave-DIRECTLY OUTSIDE THE UNCLOSED DOOR WAS TGHE OFFICE RECEPTIONIST AND A LARGE MALE STAFF MEMBER WHO LOOKED READY TO TACKLE ME. I GUESS DON'T BE BIPOLAR AND UNMEDICATED AND TELL THIS DR, IT SEEMS TO CARRY A STIGMATISM WHERE SHE THINKS BIPOLAR PPL ARE VIOLENT. I would highly recommend using a doctor who actually gives you an exam without her butt- If anyone else knows how i access my MRI records now or ask if I need surgery or what? Or how I can get the mri and go find a professional dr pls let me know. Its not lost on me that DR,MATHES BASICALLY HAD A 5 DAY WEEKEND, FUNNY HOW THAT WORKED OUT! read more
