I love being charged $75 for a lock out fee . I had no notice that two men would be entering my home, with me and my two children alone. Yes , I will definitely be letting TWO strange men into my home while I'm alone with no notice from real star that this would be happening, as a 5'2 female . Not to mention I'm a college student and when they arrived I was literally walking to my vehicle to attend class, there is no way I would put my children in danger like that with a babysitter and me not home. NOTIFY YOUR TENATS SO WE FEEL SAFE . This is our home. Very unprofessional. $75 for protecting my kids safety. If you would please do a curtesy call, email anything really . There's weirdos everywhere these days pretending to be someone they're not , to come into your home and rob you, etc. I've never lived anywhere that people just show up unannounced. I would be more than happy to work with REAL STAR in the future but respect really goes both ways. Very disappointed in this behavior. Making me pay a fee for using my judgement as a mom to keep my family safe is disturbing and says alot about the integrity of this company. Especially in this economy. This company is trash. We were in business with them for several years until this past February they allowed the tenants to destroy our home and they did not honor the contract we had with them regarding the care of our property. They removed our stove from the property and did NOT clean the property when the new tenant moved in just this week. The new tenant said the place was so dirty that they couldn't possibly move their things into the home until it is cleaned. They allowed squatters to enter the home but the Killeen police said they don't have any reports of squatters in that home. When we try to communicate with them to establish what needs to be done on the property there is never really a completeness to any thing we ask of them. How did they advertise my property on the website stating it was cleaned and ready for move in and yet the new tenant says it was filthy? We have not done a walk through with this company or the new tenant at all to see the conditions of my property, However, I did visit the property a week prior to this tenant moving in and it was dirty then but I thought they were working on it but in actuality, they did absolutely nothing at all to get my property cleaned for our new tenants. They are straight up crooks and have been taking our money and charging us for things that they aren't doing. They should be closed for good and never be allowed to rip the public off like they have done us. Just horrible! read more

I read a few reviews saying that they're all peaches and cream up front and then screw you once you move in, so I guess I dodged a bullet by getting screwed up front. Imagine going through the entire application process with no issues, paying for the deposit, getting a move-in date all set up, and then being told on the day of move in that they are no longer interested in renting to you because you are a veteran who recently underwent a hardship and is getting assistance for the move in from the VA. That is literally what just happened to us today. At least they refunded the deposit so that we can use that to get into a hotel room now that they've left us homeless. I will be spending the rest of the day stopping the internet, power, water, gas, and everything else that we got set up. I also have to call the movers and tell them to store our items. read more

Initially I wasn't going to bother to leave a review for them; however, having discovered all the issues after I had the falling out with Real Star for managing my rental property, I feel compelled to write this detailed review. The home was only 3.5 years old at the time, was basically perfect, and I sought the advice of the rental company on property maintenance and they convinced me to let it be tenant managed for the lawn, a mistake I take on the chin, one I'll never make again, more on it later. I should have been suspicious up front when the person they sent there to change the locks said their "locksmith" couldn't rekey the lock. BS, it was a $500 Baldwin lockset, any real locksmith would have been able to rekey that lock with the greatest of ease. I later found out this lock was some garbage Kwikset system that allows anyone to rekey it without a locksmith, and they screwed up how my door closes. Overall the house was in perfect condition with plenty of upgrades, I wanted someone responsible to move in and enjoy renting the home. Now, for an entire year, things were ok (so they made it seem), the tenants were late a few times, but towards the end I advised them I didn't want to renew their lease, which went unacknowledged, but they don't renew anyways. I get the usual bills for cleaning and such, but it was the garage door opener which sparked it all. The garage door opener I had installed was over $400, integrated lights, communication to open and close from an app, with an outdoor keypad and a 4-yr full replacement warranty (2 years old). Once I contacted Isaac I flat out told him at the start of the call "Last time I checked I owned the property, a garage door opener is not considered essential to living in the home, and the entire unit was under a full replacement warranty". Isaac questioned the replacement warranty and I advised him it was absolutely under full warranty. Now, I was going to cancel out of the contract anyways, knowing there may be some fees, but in Isaac's preempted this by saying he would eat the cost, but wouldn't want to continue with the contract. Great!. Fast forward and I visit the property, I'll outline all the issues below: 1. Entire yard is covered in weeds (front and back) 2. All the stone beds were devoured in weeds 3. All shrubs and landscaping were dead 4. The sprinkler system timer is no longer working (no idea when it stopped working) 5. Multiple sprinkler heads are busted (10 to be exact) 6. My sprinkler backflow had burst in multiple locations, no winter proofing done. 7. My A/C intake grill for the main filter, BENT, with a cheap filter installed, despite me saying I would supply them 8. I inspected the evaporator coil for tar, from cigarettes, and wouldn't you know, lots of it. (needed to be cleaned externally) 9. The tenants had clearly used a BBQ under the back porch, including the disgusting grease and other things which lined the walls and the concrete 10. The new garage door opener was one of the cheapest units money can buy, no remotes, no outdoor keypad, they didn't even install a light in it! 11. The garage door opener was installed improperly as I noticed it was binding my garage door. 12. We stopped counting at 100 cigarette butts in the front rock flowerbed, despite that fact we said absolutely NO SMOKING on or in the premises. (Even if you did it outside, at least put the refuse in something other than my landscaping!) Total cost to fix everything: $7,000 I get it though, Isaac is looking for those "investors", for whom I loathe because it is just another fancy word for a "slum lord", something I am not, and I have other properties I rent out. If you're in the market for a property management company, and you actually care about the home you own, your best bet is to continue to find someone else. You can use Keller Williams to help lease it, they have some interesting options for you, but if you're a *cough* investor *cough*, sure go ahead, you don't care anyways. read more

They are not a good company. My husband lost his job due to the corona virus and they are unwilling to work with us. I will tell all of our military friends, family and active duty to never rent from these people. We have mold in our house which is effecting our breathing and who ever put our floors. They have threatened to kick us out. Who does that. I cannot wait to be done with this company. It makes me sick that they would treat anyone this way especially my husband who is a veteran. This is the worst unfair property manager that I have ever rented from. Issac is very unfair to the elderly and disabled senior citizen. He tried to evict me after I had already moved out of the property. I did not cause any damages to the property one of my roommates did. He tried to charge me for those damages and I was already living in another city. I forgot to bless the house ey so I had to ail it to him this is a very poor management company. The ability to pay rent and submit work orders online were also handy. I was renting a home that Real Star had taken management of after the house was sold to another investor and they didn't even bother to do a initial check of the property at all I didn't see anyone until I moved out. After moving I was charged by Real Star for damages that were present when I moved in several years before such as the garage door constantly going off track. I still haven't received ANY of the deposit that they owe me and its looking like I will have to take them to court to get any money from this sorry excuse for a "management" company. They are very Shady realtor all they care is to rent put a happy face to greet you and be extremely nice. But once your in a two year lease the nightmare begins. I still have a master bathroom shower I can't use. My lease is almost done, two years hello that should say how poorly they are . I have send emails and numerous calls. People at the end they want your Rent Money and they will keep being unprofessional and very Shady . 4.6 ratings is not what this company deserves. They need a way better maintenance Management, Office Manager as well. Or maybe don't do any business with them. We've had REAL Star managing multiple properties for us over the last year and a half. It was very challenging finding a property manager to manage our properties because there weren't really great reviews in the Temple/Belton area and we didn't know who we could trust. We didn't want tenants having issues with non responsiveness and we didn't want mismanaged properties. We feel that REAL Star has been fair to both our tenants and us as property owners. We literally don't have a single complaint. They ALWAYS respond promptly and do so with a pleasant demeanor. To expedite repairs for our tenants we have designated a set dollar amount for repairs. If any repairs arose that are below that amount they take care of the issue promptly and email us to notify us (no approval needed). If it's above the designated dollar amount they notify us regarding the needed repair for approval. We receive monthly statements regarding all activity pertaining to our properties. This property management company is worth every single penny. I can't recommend them enough. read more

Called the phone # twice, and two people gave me different information on the same rental home. One told me how a water softener was included while the other person told me it does NOT have a water softener and that none of their rental homes do not have a water softener. Also, one person told me the rental home price was higher than listed on zillow, and when I asked her about the lower price on zillow.... she wasn't sure and later told me I was correct. Called a third time for a different home inquiry, and the representative rudely told me something along the lines of "I think I already talked to you on the phone earlier and told you all our rental homes are pretty much the same. Just go on the website." I went on the website multiple times to search, and their website doesn't give the information I needed. I do not recommend. And will never rent from this company. I WARNED YOU. I got the vibe that they would do anything within their power to keep the security deposit. They were amazing when it came to moving in getting into the property and everything at the beginning. Through out our stay there they were okay. When we had maintenance issue some times they were there instantly other times took days. Over New Years our kitchen sink got backed up and clogged took the. 3 days to come. When they came to clean it they digged up our front sidewalk and left it like that for months. While we were renting they did not tell us our house got sold to another company . So when it came time to move out we had no clue where we would get our deposit from They didn't even tell us who to contact until we started bugging. Also when it came to move out they gave us this huge check list to do which is fine. They wanted pest and carpets cleaned. Which was okay. I was told from one of their employees that we would get reimbursed for it. Well it has been a month and now they are saying we are not getting anything back. That they did not mean we would get it back. I would recommend if you are going to rent from them know exactly what you are getting into before doing it. read more

Avoid renting from this company at all costs. Their name should be changed to Real Star miss-management. They hire on site managers (like the ones at their Gorge View Royal - Christie Point location) who have zero people skills. Their managers have repeatedly been verbally aggressive and my girlfriend felt incredibly frightened with how the manager spoke to her behind closed doors. We will film all encounters moving forward. Not only has the staff been dishonest about entering our residence to do maintenance (the video footage and time stamps on our security camera shows this to be false).... but when asking for a parking spot they failed to charge us for months after we asked for them to include parking. We assumed that they were including the charge, but then learned that they had failed to charge us for several months and then wanted us to pay a lump some without warning or opportunity to pay a monthly payment fee to catch up (for their failure to handle their books and payments in an adequate fashion). We explained that we are a low income family and that we don't use credit and that that amount of money is a lot for us when unexpected but I was told to pay or vacate the spot in 48 hours. This is not the first bit of poor people skills and miss management I've seen by this company and their current hires, but it is the most recent. read more

I rented with these guys. I read the reviews about them and have read on the yellow page reviews too, some of those reviews were harsh! This is my experience though... We came in from out of town and had a very short window to look at homes and make a decision. They gave us keys to empty houses and we ran and took a look. We made our mind up, filled out an application and left again for out of state. We did the rest of the lease by mail. When it came time for us to get moved in, the staff- Kelsey and Ray were fairly flexible with us. They tend to have hard and fast rules ( I think life needs us to be flexible, so rules frustrate me), but I get that they are trying to be fair to everyone, if you let one person do something, then you kind of have to allow that for all. But, there are exceptions! Once we got into our home, I found out ( I am sure it was in the lease but who the heck has time to read that big thing) that service calls were $35 per visit. You have 3 days to determine what needs to be taken care of and report it so you won't get charged. Anyway, I did talk to Isaac, who assured me that those fees would not be charged to us if it was something we had not done, or if the call was a valid call. They have this in place for those people that want to abuse the services. Isaac asked me to please give him a chance to show me and that he would be fair. He was as good as his word. When we had a problem, they sent their repair man (very nice man too) to take care of whatever it was, if it was beyond his scope of ability, they hired professionals (such as serious plumbing problems). It was all maintained quickly! You can't ask for better than that. As far as moving out and getting our deposit back, they were fair on that too. So, from this "professional" renter, I would go back to them in a minute if they had something I liked. We moved because we didn't want to sign up another year on the house we were in, we needed something bigger and they didn't have another property that would work. So, my opinions of them is that if you are a good tenant, take care of your "home", pay your rent and do what is right, they will be good to you. read more

Having done business with this property management staff for only a month or so, I can tell you that the general staff is appalling in terms of answering questions, coming to any simple conclusions, and employing basic customer service skills. Having done business with them through my company, who will remain nameless at this juncture, they are always eager to assist due to business relations and/or concerns. As a tenant, having experienced a major plumbing issue after only a month or so of renting one of their properties, it is evident that this property management team couldn't manage a lemonade stand without calling in for backup. The lady I talked to concerning my plumbing issues was beyond worthless in terms of customer service, as she couldn't even field the most basic of questions and/or prompts. This experience is most definitely making me question my decision to do business with Real Star Property Management. May indeed start looking for far superior management property contacts, as it is pathetic that my wife and I should be forced to constantly contact the staff in order to get the ball rolling. From the sweet girls answering the phone to the Leasing Agents and Managers, they have truly made our experience a fantastic one. They are professional, honest and genuine. If there was a no star option they would get it! If you are a property owner do NOT use them to manage your property! They do not care who they put in it, how the tenants treat your property, or how it affects others who live nearby. I am in a new subdivision in Temple. All brand new homes and it used to be nice but Real Star rented to some complete garbage and these tenants have literally tormented a whole neighborhood. They race dirt bikes up and down the roads ( there are only 3 streets) , have had parties with people calling neighbors n*****rs, the police have had to be called out numerous times to their house, one night I had to call because it sounded like the man was killing the woman. She was screaming "stop and get off of me" so loud I'm surprised she has a voice left and don't even get me started about their yard. Absolutely disgusting! Garbage everywhere, no lawn care etc.. I called Real Star and they said they would take care of it months ago and guess what?? Still dealing with the same exact things. read more

Real star managed our propertie for the last year. Before we handed them the keys we replaced blinds, the doorbell, locks, hired cleaners, touched up paint, mowed, ect. After the renters moved out we would assume we would receive the house back in the same condition minus normal wear and tear. We were told it took 10 days max to get our keys back was 10 days. They took 15 days no big deal but, upon taking back posession of the property the door bell was removed with wires exposed on the outside of the house, the window was cracked, the garage door sensors were ripped out with wires exposed, the toilet leaked, the touch up paint was the wrong color, the cleaner service they hired was horrible. They offered to fix most of these things (not the toilet, touch up paint, or cleaning) but not without us calling back more than 10 or 15 times to ask them when they would fix these things. I would not reccomend them to manage your property. read more

Not happy with the service we have received having Real Star manage our property. We dropped $14,000 to renovate our property through them when we moved overseas(military) First- once the contractors started working on the house we had left quite a few very expensive and valuable items in the garage. They were supposed to move these items to a storage for us. These items were there one day, and when they gained access to the house the items suddenly disappeared. A pool table, Kirby VACCUM, bissel steam cleaner, military plaques my husband had made, just to name a few. We couldn't fight it being over seas and had no visual proof of the contractors stealing so we had to let it go. Second- They hold our rent from tenants to fix things that the tenants break, blinds, toilet seats etc and we almost NEVER receive an itemized list when repairs are done. We are only "told" what had to be fixed and how much is being withheld. Anytime we question it's "uh uh uh" coming up with BS excuses to where our money "may be" going. Tenants are out in one year and we will be looking for new property management! read more

This company is hard on tenants. Great for the property owners and I guess that's all that really matters. They see you as tenants renting property not people trying to live in a home. You will be subjected to home walkthroughs as well as lose other privacy, but it's in your lease so what can you do? They will nickel and dime you in every way possible. Also, you pay a pet fee, not a pet deposit even though they will say pet deposit while talking to you, but it's not. You pay a large Non-refundable pet fee when you move in and then a monthly one until you move out. The fee does not cover anything so be aware of that, they won't tell you that. Repairs were slow and took basically babysitting them until things were taken care of. Just be aware you are a walking dollar sign to them, not a human. Real Star Property Management has been a God-send! We have been using them for 2 1/2 years and have absolutely no complaints. We live in Hawaii and never have to worry about our home! They had our house listed within a day of meeting with them and rented out the next day. They were excellent in ensuring the tenants were trustworthy. They have been very proficient in contacting us when and if anything need to be fixed. The administrative portion is timely: the rent is always in our account at the same time every month and they send detailed statements along with it so we know what is going on. The staff is great! They are very professional and friendly! My husband and I highly recommend Real Star Property! They are GREAT! read more

Great for property owners but not so great as a tenant. They provide a portal login to view transactions, create work orders, or start "conversations". They've already posted an erroneous balance or a late fee and we've lived at the property less than a month! Not small amounts but RIDICULOUS amounts. Take into consideration we are NOT behind on rent/deposit/pet deposit. A remaining balance error of $725 and a "late fee" of $425. There was an agreement to do two separate payments for the pet deposit. You also are charged pet rent and if you pay online its $1.95. Also, if you need maintenance, the initial person they send is an English is their second language individual. It took several calls to figure out why the hot water heater wasn't working and the maintenance manager finally decided to call a real plumber. I recently moved to temple, tx, because I really got a good job in Austin, tx. When I came across this property everything in office was pleasant and professional. I signed this long lease, had to pay 250 security deposit, 395 rent, and 45 water all up front before moving in. I felt like, wow great deal. Until I moved in on 6/20/15. A/C was completely filthy, all ceiling fans filthy, bathroom sink filthy. I didn't expect it to be perfect, but you could visibly see this dirt. The guy at the property told me it didn't meet their cleaning standards, and it was up to the owner to clean their own property, but yet and still you rented it to me, took my money, and you had over a week to get it cleaned. When I picked my key up Saturday you tell me the owner won't be able to clean it until Monday, so you expect me to live in a filthy apt for 2 days. I actually ran into the owner when I was moving in, she wipe the stove and refrigerator off with just water and a paper tower, no cleaning solution. When I showed her the filthy bathroom sink, that had dried up tooth paste in the sink, she turn the fossil on and rub some water on it with her hand. Three light bulbs were out, so she went and gave me them to put in, wow, really. I guess the thing is why be a homeowner, and rent properties out it you don't even care how the property looks to the next resident. All I can say is maybe the owner need to take some of that money they pocketing and at least clean the apt for the New resident coming in. I did give y'all $690.00 the lest you can do is clean the apt. First weekend in Texas, moving from Alabama I feel really welcome, ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
