Extremely shady and greedy. DO NOT RENT from this scammy group. They gave us less than 3 hours to sign the deposit and gave the lease 4 days after, only when we rushed them to and didn't respond to us afterwards. They didn't care to mention when they'll send the lease. Vikki told us after the deposit that there's a very LOUD FLIGHT PATH. Also a chance of lead paint, lead and Asbestos as it's built in 1950s among other things. They'll make different listings on Zillow under different names and numbers to appear so it's not been on the market longer. They were still showing the property but wants to charge us for the time until they gave us the lease. During the 4 days they didn't send us the lease, they didn't take the listing off market but still want to charge us, and lied when confronted. FYI, if you are considering renting from Mentone street, don't. Be aware this is a shady group that does not care about you. read more

I'm going to go against the crowd here and say I've had a wonderful time renting from RPG. I've been in the same house for 3 years with some changes to roommates each year, and I'm only leaving because I'm getting married! The place itself is wonderful; Vikki has been prompt, polite, and extremely helpful with all our needs; the rate increases have been very reasonable with each new lease; and the crews they hire to do the occasional repair have been very fast and capable. I'd like to remind readers that it's much easier to drum up motivation to write a review when you're pissed off than when everything is fine. So while I don't doubt that the other reviewers had bad experiences, I'm sure there are many, many more good experiences that have not been recorded here. read more

We have been renting from Real Properties Group for over 3 years and this is BY FAR the best rental company I have dealt with in San Diego!! Vikki is a wonderful property manager. She always keeps the apartment property clean and well taken care of. She is very quick to respond to any concerns or problems with the unit. She always gave plenty of notice to tenants about any repairs or walk-throughs. We are sad to be moving out of our place, but given the great track record we have had dealing with Vikki and her team, I don't suspect there will be any problems with the move out process or getting our deposit back. read more

The apt. complex I live in is your basic satisfactory 2 bedroom. Things usually get fixed in a timely fashion and the grounds are relatively well taken care of. However, it would be nice if the people employed there knew what they were responsible for and about renter's rights at all. When our entire house flooded and my roommate and I could not live there for a week they actually yelled at me when I politely inquired about the fact it was not necessary to pay rent when the unit is uninhabitable. Oh, then they gave us three sand bags and it flooded again. Duh. We obviously ended up not having to pay for the days we couldn't live there and they have been rude ever since-especially 'Deborah.' read more

Worst landlord ever. Don't respond to emails or voicemail at all. Me having no heat last winter was deemed a low priority. I have 3 of the noisiest neighbors on the planet and they do nothing. Despite various agreements that I signed with them (noise, garbage, etc) they don't enforce. I'd highly advise against moving in to a property that they "manage" (word used loosely). read more

I'm actually in agreeance with the latest reviews too. By far they have been the most on-the-ball and responsive property managers I've had yet. And I've been lucky enough to have pretty nice ones but I feel like Vikki and her team have always gone above and beyond when ever I've had a concern. Every time they've sent a tech over they've all been very nice and thorough. I've been at my unit in Hillcrest for over 2 years now and it's been wonderful. Ok, so this company has had some poor reviews, but I've got to say my experience was great. I moved from out of state, and found their advertised apt near the beach online. I did something I have never done in my life-- rented the place sight unseen! Sometimes photos can be deceiving, but I was pleased to see that the pictures of the apt were accurate when I finally got here. So having paid all the deposits and first month rent, I headed over to see the place....nervous what I'd find. It was IMMACULATE. I'm a pretty picky person for cleanliness, and it was as clean as if I'd done it myself. Absolutely spotless. There were a few minor repairs needed (hole in the window screen, leaky shower head). I notified Debra and the very next morning, Daniel and his crew arrived, and completed all the repairs. He even ran over to the local hardware store to purchase a new shower head in less than 15 minutes flat. Vikki was very helpful and responsive via email and phone during the set up process, as was Debra. I've been in the apt for just 2 wks, but so far, I am very happy with it. read more

Extremely rude and unprofessional. Firstly, they drew up our lease wrong. My roommate had to return it to get it done right. (They even did it in our favor as our rent was $1550/mo and on the lease it read $895/mo) Despite this nice gesture, the moment our lease was signed and the deposit was submitted they treated us like trash. Our sink in the bathroom was broken and I would've had to fix it myself had they not realized that that was not possible. My roommate submitted a rent check from the wrong account and was promptly yelled at by Debra. My neighbors have also said they have had similar interactions with this company. I called and told her to submit everything to us in writing simply so we wouldn't have to deal with their impudence. A few other past tenants in our unit were charged $400 just for cleaning an empty two bedroom apartment with no carpet (just cleaning, not damages!!!) We'll be hiring a cleaning service and taking pictures before we move out to avoid this injustice. Otherwise its off to small claims court we go. Do I have to give them a star?? Avoid this company at all costs!! P.S. please check the four filtered reviews at the bottom of the page (just under the last review) and note the similarities. They are truthful reviews. The apartment itself was okay but the service was awful. Vicki the receptionist is very rude, unprofessional, and uncooperative. Do not waste your time cleaning the apartment after you have moved out because they will charge you outrageous fees for the cleaning and painting service. Repairs are absolutely ridiculous as well. They need to educate their employees on renters rights and to read the lease agreements. Make sure not to let them walk all over you because they will try. We have had a couple incidents where they try to charge us outrageous costs for repairs and Vicki did not back down until we showed her that the lease included wear and tear. I would try to avoid this company if possible. read more

I was a tenant in an apartment that this company owned. They were not only rude and unprofessional, but the secretary, Vikki, personally attacked my roommates and I on several occasions over lights going out, the broken dishwasher, and other things that were under general wear and tear in the lease agreement. My roommate and I had broken a few items in the house and had inquired about the cost to repair the items and then paid for them in a timely fashion. Vikki then accused my roommate and I of blaming the broken items on Real Properties Group, which I can say NEVER HAPPENED. Not only was Vikki rude when we repaired the broken items and covered the cost, she continued to insist that she was "sick of my house's excuses." She nor the manager Deborah were ever friendly or professional with any of us on the phone. I would NOT recommend this property management group to anyone unless you feel like being insulted by your landlord and your landlord's secretary. read more

My husband and I are relocating to the San Diego area, and found a rental property of interest managed by Real Properties Group. An email to the company requesting information yielded little other than a return email asking us to call the company for the information. Okay....we called during regular business hours, were greeted by an answering machine and left a message. A few hours later, after no response, we called again and left another message on a different extension, just in case the first call was missed. Still no response. We attempted twice more to make contact with someone (no messages left.) This morning, in a stellar example of quality customer service (NOT) we received a return call from a company rep who was clearly perturbed about having to field any inquiries, and demanded to know what exactly we were interested in finding out about the rental. Hmmm. Honestly, at this point, what we want to know about ANY property this company manages is NOTHING. If you like being both ignored AND abused by a business, this one might work for you! read more
