The woman who helped me, Kerry, a ceramicist, was helpful and pleasant. The gallery is cozy and features 30 artists. The works were all affordable. My favorite artists represented by the gallery are the painter, Judy Bess; the photographer, Steven W. Martin; and, of course, Ms. MacQuarrie. The Mesilla Valley Fine Arts Gallery is a bit of an oasis amidst a square full of kitschy t-shirt shops.

That's coming from an artist who lives in Austin, TX. I'm not sure what the locals consider reasonable; but in my opinion, many of the pieces for sale are under priced. I actually heard about it because a local ceramics artist was selling her tequila cups there and I had to have one. But what I found was a place that I could spend hours in just admiring everything. And it really feels like they are bringing a unique artist community together under one roof. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly and although they only have weekend hours they all can set you up with appointments. This is not a place you are likely to just stumble upon but it's definitely worth go out of your way to visit it.

The place is filled with works from local artists and the owner always keeps it fresh by changing the art gallery out every other week. The place is tucked away in the industrial area of town - so it's not something you would come across unless you searched for it - but it's worth the visit! It seems they have more space available in the building and I have suggested they create a 'Mini Meow Wolf' for Southern NM ;) If not, I hope George R R Martin somehow runs across it one day and funds the art collective here lol.

BUT, the kind person running the store gave me a store-use container of matte medium. There wasn't much left in the jar but it helped me with my project, & I appreciated her gesture very much.
