The place is tucked away in the industrial area of town - so it's not something you would come across unless you searched for it - but it's worth the visit! It seems they have more space available in the building and I have suggested they create a 'Mini Meow Wolf' for Southern NM ;) If not, I hope George R R Martin somehow runs across it one day and funds the art collective here lol.

When we visited, they had their Day of the Dead exhibit and display. I can say, hands down, this was such an incredible display. It was informative while honoring the sacred tradition of an ofrenda, and was interactive for all. Each of the pieces of the altar and their significance were explained. The papel picado was used for people to write notes to their deceased loved ones. Next to the ofrenda was the photographic exhibit in the Shannon Room. Beautiful pictures depicting the love and care that goes into Day of the Dead. Definitely a place to stop if you are on Main Street.

When we came in, there was an exhibit on World War II, including timelines of the war, - how Germany started the war by invading Poland, how Japan invaded Manchuria, how the US began its nuclear testing program, the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, the U.S. declaration of war on Japan, the role of sites in New Mexico (including Los Alamos and Alamogordo) for developing and testing the first atomic bomb (the Trinity Test), and other events that led to dropping US atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki to lead to the surrender of Japan. The inside is beautiful, I *loved* the history of the testing sites and the families that owned the ranches. The rooms about Billy the Kid and the cattle rustlers was not my favorite, just personal interest isn't there, but it was well done. They also had lots of interactive things around to keep kids going through the "boring" stuff. I really enjoyed the photography exhibit down the hallway, beautiful artwork. There is an interior and exterior kids play area. The milk barn was one of our favorites, many fun videos and interesting facts. Roping demos on weekends. *Very* sweet and friendly donkey that likes his head scratched. The saddle exhibit was interesting too. I was hoping for some more info on crop farming, based on the name of the building; I loved the info about the chili and pecan tree varieties developed specifically for the environment. I wanted more! Even the gift shop is fun - many tasty items for sale. The wine tasting was my favorite and if I had more time would have enjoyed trying the vinegars and oils. The pistachio candies are excellent. You can easily spend 3-4 hours here, I'm very impressed that this is available in Las Cruces.

Almost everything in the store is handmade. From home décor, accessories, jewelry, pieces of art all distinguish the New Mexican culture and heritage in very, very unique ways. The craftmanship, artistry and uniqueness of their items overwhelms. We are always happy to stop in. Kudos to the staff for their fine customer service and astounding curation of magnificent products.

Caryn took two heirloom family quilts that had never been completed, and finished them. Her work…read morewas exceptional. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of her work. She is extremely knowledgeable about all areas related to quilting. For example, she recognized that the fabric in question was vintage 1930s, and warned us that it was not colorfast. She then recommended products that would help protect against color bleed during washing. Without this information we might well have damaged the quilt simply by trying to clean it. Her knowledge and capabilities are unmatched in my experience.
