Round of applause for Real Food Farm for winning Best of Baltimore 2014: Urban Farming! WOO HOO!!! Need I say more? :-)
Real Food Farm is Civic Works' innovative urban farm growing fresh produce on six acres of land in Clifton Park in northeast Baltimore. They are busy growing food, educating youth, partnering with community organizations, and bringing more real food to Northeast Baltimore.
I was invited to check out the Mission Thrive program for HS students. I was in shock how much land they have and how much food they are growing! I forgot to take pictures! Sorry. ya'll! You find their Mobile Farmer's Market at the Waverly Market on Saturdays. Also, I am looking forward to finally having a place to send my compost (free!). In Philadelphia, my corner had a urban farm but you had to pay in order to drop off you compost. Although this is not on my corner, it is better than nothing. I was having a hard time keeping up with compost at the house.
Also, they hold cool seminars at different locations on things like Canning and Seed Saving. Please check out their website! read more
