I'm glad for this as that is how I signed up for a free 2-hour introductory class to coding. The class covered HTML and CSS and was designed to just a quick intro to see if you would be interested in taking a full class. Still I was surprised how much I learned in just a free intro course. Our instructor Allie covered a ton of theory so we understood the big picture and how the different developer languages (HTML, CSS and Javascript) played different roles. Much of the class was her guiding us through actually creating a mock webpage by immediately applying the coding principles and info she taught. I highly recommend bringing your computer for the hands-on portion. Also, Allie listed additional resources for us to explore on our own time, and we were promised the slide deck after. Being totally new to coding, I was able to take what I learned from the intro class and actually fix an issue THE NEXT DAY on the website that I manage for work! I rely on website templates but don't understand the HTML and CSS behind it so I was able to override the template that doesn't even allow me to change font attributes on hyperlinked text. Once you sign up for a class they send you promo emails with discounts, so I will probably look into taking a more full class. TIP: this is located right in the heart of Little Tokyo so there is plenty of sushi, ramen and snack options available before or after going to class here.

I have mixed feelings about GA…read more Pros: 1. This is one of the few places left where you can get actual, in-person instruction. If you're one who can't stick to learning on your own online, face-to-face instruction is the way to go. 2. I also like that they offer a wide variety of topics from web development and digital marketing to project management, sales pitching, and communication skills. 3. The instructors I've had so far have been knowledgeable and nice. 4. They have many free talks in the evenings, sometimes even with free nibbles. I attended one on the art of sales pitching. I think it was called something like "How to Sell Anything to Anyone." The speaker was excellent, and he gave really good tips. 5. The DTLA location has convenient parking ($5 evenings and wknds) at Joe's Garage a few doors down. I also like that you can enjoy the many Little Tokyo restaurants before or after class :) Cons: 1. Cost. If you want to take their multi-day courses, expect to pay $$$. That's what you gotta expect for in-person classes from a private school. I'd love to take more classes, but I can't be spending more thousands of dollars. Yes, they have a payment plan, but you still gotta pay them back. 2. If you're looking to start a new career, don't expect to be "career ready" after you've spent all that money. The classes don't go into much depth. They're more of an overview, just enough to get you started. Then comes the hard part - studying on your own by following all the blogs and video content out there. THAT takes discipline, and nobody can help you there. I wish knowledge could just be implanted in my brain without my having to exert effort. Just being honest. 3. They never answer the phone. The only way to get a response is via email. If you're on your way to an evening or weekend class and need to reach someone, you won't get a response if it's outside normal business hours. Conclusion: If you're disciplined and highly motivated, save your money and take advantage of the overwhelming number of free resources online. But if you're a lazy a-hole like me and you're willing to spend some serious money, take a GA course to at least get you started and pointed in the right direction.

This was a jam packed week full of all the necessary knowledge/tools needed to launch a successful interior design business. The coursework included a variety of guest speakers from the field of design as well as applicable field trips that proved invaluable in creating networking opportunities. Since graduation, I have received a variety of support through additional coaching via Zoom which has given me the confidence to continue pursuing my passion with fervor. Wanda, Tammy, and Kim have been my greatest cheerleaders and I am so thankful for their commitment to creating a top notch program for people interested in starting a career in home staging and design!

The days were thoughtfully planned out, and we touched on everything one would need to gain the confidence to start and/or evolve their business. The word that comes to mind is "clarity." I gained clarity at who I am at my core and how that expands into all facets of my business. I gained clarity on both my immediate and long term goals and how to prioritize them. And I gained clarity on what was holding me back. I arrived alone but left with 3 close friends and two mentors that I can't thank enough for helping me realize and shape a dream I had one day in 2020. 4/5/22 No matter where you are in your career and/or life, you deserve to do this for YOU. I had a bit of an inferior complex going in because I have zero training or experience in Interior Design, and this course is designed literally for every one at every level. The team has designed such an approachable program that touches on all aspects of the process. Wanda - our fabulous instructor - brings real world examples into every lesson that helps contextualize beyond the classroom. In addition, the "white box challenge" was such a fun practice run of what it's like to design in the real world. If you're on the fence about joining, just do it! You'll never regret doing this for you, even if it's just to serve a need to design your own house. I can unequivocally say that the Academy of Home Staging & Design changed my life, and it prepared me for a life where my job doesn't feel like a job at all. Oh - and I made talented, lifelong friends in the process!

By the state I only need a certain amount of hours but because they "can" they extort money out of people to get more. Set up an appointment for enrollment was advised to bring a list of documents which I did, and the logistical process of the intake was done and didn't have any alarming parts of the process. STAFF: -Not friendly, at all. You'd think that as a business the team would have much more or any energy at all to welcome any and every potential student so as to transfer that excitement into engagement for their students and school environment. I was met with a front desk associate who appeared either tired, in a bad mood, or both-- very monotone voice and ZMS academy has no dress code enforced for students or staff so it was very casual all around and not foster integrity in appearance and professionalism by way of presentation of team. - The woman coordinating the enrollment paperwork and otherwise seemed nice but was literally speaking the least possible, and again not conveying excitement or driving engagement between me and the school-- not personable and awkward as I got through the process. NO PARKING LOT: -this school in on a BUSY street and has no parking lot, having to deal with morning and afternoon traffic in exponential inconvenience per a school not having a parking lot I knew would just be a nightmare. School appearance otherwise wasn't inspiring, they're statistics if graduate passing rate and otherwise were also all really low.
